Ridley Campgrounds Introduce
For local outdoor enthusiasts in the Philadelphia metropolitan area searching for "camping near me," Ridley Campgrounds, located at 940-1142 Sycamore Mills Rd, Media, PA 19063, USA, presents a noteworthy option. While direct, comprehensive information from the campground's official website might be limited, insights from user reviews offer a valuable perspective on what this campsite has to offer.
According to feedback from campers, Ridley Campgrounds is frequently utilized by Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops, which contributes to its reputation for cleanliness. This suggests a well-maintained environment where care for the grounds is emphasized. The presence of park rangers, who reportedly visit the campground approximately twice a day, indicates a focus on safety and security for all visitors, which can be a significant reassurance for families and individuals alike.
In terms of services and amenities, the campground is equipped with running water available near the restrooms. This basic yet essential amenity adds a level of convenience for campers. The positive review highlights Ridley Campgrounds as a potentially excellent state park for those new to camping and hiking, implying that the facilities are accessible and the environment is welcoming for beginners.
One of the key features mentioned is the campground's capacity. It is described as being large enough to accommodate up to four Boy Scout troops simultaneously, while still providing ample space for campfires and cooking tents. This suggests that Ridley Campgrounds can cater to larger groups and offers designated areas for communal activities, enhancing the social aspect of camping. For those searching within the "camping near me" category who are planning group outings, this capacity could be a significant advantage.
For nature lovers and outdoor adventurers, Ridley Campgrounds boasts a prime location near hiking trails. This proximity allows campers easy access to explore the natural beauty of the surrounding area on foot, aligning perfectly with the desire of many who go camping to also engage in hiking. Additionally, the campground is situated right next to a creek that is noted as a great fishing spot, providing another recreational activity for campers to enjoy. The combination of hiking and fishing opportunities makes Ridley Campgrounds an attractive destination for those seeking a well-rounded outdoor experience close to home.
However, it is important to note that one review mentioned a disappointment due to the campground being unexpectedly closed despite online information suggesting it was open. This highlights the importance of verifying the operational status and booking procedures directly with the campground before planning a trip. While this particular reviewer still found a way to enjoy their time outdoors, it serves as a reminder for all potential visitors to seek the most current information to avoid similar situations.
Despite the negative experience of the unexpected closure, the reviewer still gave a high rating, partly due to the positive aspects of the location, such as the early morning birdwatching and scenic views experienced while camping nearby. This underscores the natural appeal of the area surrounding Ridley Campgrounds. The reviewer's future plans to return with an RV and tent further suggest that the inherent qualities of the location are compelling.
Considering the "camping near me" platform, Ridley Campgrounds offers a local option with several appealing features: a clean and safe environment, essential amenities like running water, ample space for groups, and immediate access to hiking trails and a fishing creek. Ridley Campgrounds Reviews
It is a great campsite. Mostly used by Boy Scouts and cub scouts who make sure it’s clean. Park rangers visit often, about twice a day to make sure everyone safe. The campground is equipped with running water by the restrooms, and it is (in my opinion) the best state park to start camping/hiking in. The campground is large enough to house 4 Boy Scout troops, and still have room for campfires and cooking tents. The campground is also located close to hiking trails, which is perfect as everyone who goes camping should participate in hiking. As well as being close to hiking, it is located right next to a great fishing spot in a creek not far from camp.

Jun 29, 2023 · Abu Mannocchithis is a great spot, although I don't know if they allow you to sleep overnight individually, it says group camping whatever that means. It's super big, you could fit hundreds of tents here but there's no amenities except bathroom. It's just a big field
Mar 22, 2020 · BoRidley was great even in all the rain. If you can't stand rain and mud. There was a lot of firewood, clean bathrooms. Arrive early, the grounds close at sunset!
