Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday Introduce
For local users searching within the "camping near me" category for a campground that offers a strategic location with easy access to Philadelphia and surrounding areas, the Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday, situated at 117 Timberlane Rd, Clarksboro, NJ 08020, USA, presents a noteworthy option. With contact numbers (856) 423-6677 and +1 856-423-6677, this KOA campground has received feedback highlighting its convenient location, family-friendly amenities, and helpful staff, while also pointing out some considerations regarding site size and policies.
One of the primary advantages of this KOA Holiday location is its accessibility. A reviewer described it as a "Solid location. Right off the highway yet quiet." This is a significant benefit for travelers who appreciate the ease of reaching the campground from major roadways without being subjected to excessive traffic noise. The balance of convenience and tranquility makes it an appealing stopover or destination for those exploring the region.
For those interested in visiting Philadelphia, the campground offers a relatively straightforward route to the city. The same reviewer noted that "Getting into Philly was easy, 30 minute drive to the Patco train and then 20 minutes to downtown." This provides a viable option for experiencing the cultural and historical attractions of Philadelphia without the hassle of driving and parking a recreational vehicle directly in the city. The proximity to public transportation enhances the campground's appeal for tourists wanting to explore the urban center.
Families with young children will likely appreciate the amenities geared towards them. One reviewer who stayed at a "backin site right by the jumping pillow" found the location "great for our younger kids." The presence of a jumping pillow is a significant draw for children, providing a fun and active recreational opportunity right within the campground. This family-friendly feature makes it a potential choice for those traveling with energetic youngsters.
Another reviewer, who has stayed at the campground "several times" while taking their son to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), highlights its convenience for those needing access to medical facilities in the city. This indicates that the location is not only suitable for leisure travelers but also for those visiting Philadelphia for specific purposes, such as medical appointments.
However, this recurring visitor also pointed out a potential drawback regarding the size of some campsites. They mentioned that "The front sides are pretty narrow, so you're not putting out a whole bunch of chairs and stuff. My slide overhung my neighbors picnic table." This suggests that while the campground is generally nice, some of the sites, particularly those in the front, might be less spacious, potentially limiting the setup area for larger RVs or those wanting more outdoor living space. Campers with larger rigs or those planning to spend significant time outside their RV should inquire about site dimensions when booking.
Despite the spatial limitations of some sites, the staff at Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday received positive feedback. The reviewer who mentioned the narrow sites also noted that "The staff is nice and they do what they can to accommodate." This positive interaction with the staff can significantly improve the overall camping experience, especially when addressing any concerns or needs that arise during the stay.
A specific policy regarding late checkout was also mentioned as a potential frustration. The reviewer noted that "late checkout can only go until 12 or the system 'automatically' charges another night." They experienced a situation where a slightly later checkout was needed due to a medical appointment but were constrained by this policy. While the reviewer acknowledged that many places have checkout policies, the inflexibility in certain circumstances was seen as a drawback. Campers anticipating a need for a later departure should be aware of this policy.
Despite these considerations, the overall sentiment of the recurring visitor was positive, stating, "However, other than this, it is a nice place to stop. It's close to the city and there's plenty of food etc in the area." This reinforces the campground's convenient location, not only for accessing Philadelphia but also for finding local amenities such as restaurants and supplies in the Clarksboro area.
The mention of a daughter enjoying the "jump pad, too!" further emphasizes the family-friendly nature of the campground and the appeal of its recreational amenities.
As a KOA Holiday campground, Philadelphia South / Clarksboro likely offers a range of amenities and services typical of the KOA brand. These might include well-maintained restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, a camp store, Wi-Fi access, and potentially other recreational facilities in addition to the jumping pillow. KOA campgrounds often have designated areas for RVs and tents, and they may offer various types of campsites with different hookup options. Given the positive mention of the jumping pillow, it's plausible that other family-oriented amenities, such as a playground or a swimming pool (though not explicitly mentioned), might also be available.
Promotional information is not directly provided in the reviews. However, KOA often has its own loyalty program (KOA Rewards) that offers discounts and benefits to members. Local users who are KOA members or frequent KOA campgrounds might want to inquire about using their membership at this location. Additionally, it's always worth checking the official KOA website or contacting the campground directly to inquire about any seasonal specials, discounts for longer stays, or other promotional offers that might be available.
In conclusion, for local users searching the "camping near me" category, the Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday offers a conveniently located campground with easy highway access and a straightforward route to Philadelphia. It appears to be family-friendly, with amenities like a jumping pillow. While some campsites might be narrow, and there are specific policies regarding late checkout, the staff is generally regarded as nice and accommodating. Its proximity to the city and local conveniences makes it a practical choice for both tourists and those visiting Philadelphia for other reasons. Potential campers should consider their specific needs regarding site size and checkout times when making a reservation and might benefit from inquiring about all available amenities and any ongoing promotions.

Apr 20, 2025 · Matt ReeseWe have stayed here several times taking my son to CHOP. The front sides are pretty narrow, so you're not putting out a whole bunch of chairs and stuff. My slide overhung my neighbors picnic table. The staff is nice and they do what they can to accommodate. It is a little frustrating that late checkout can only go until 12 or the system "automatically" charges another night. I had to park my whole rig at a mall parking lot and unhook my tow in order to take my son to his appointment, and I only needed until 1 or 2. I mean, it's not like a hotel where housekeeping needs to come in! A lot of places charge another night if you're still there at "check-in" time. However, other than this, it is a nice place to stop. It's close to the city and there's plenty of food etc in the area. My daughter loves the jump pad, too!
Mar 18, 2025 · Rick LibbeyOne of nicest dog parks of any KOA. The park is in a great location and is very close to the Philadelphia Sports Complexes. Sites could use some TLC, such as additional gravel to level the sites. I see they are working on infrastructure and hopefully will see some improvements on my next trip.
May 01, 2025 · K KWe were in town to visit friends and family for 2 days. I was decent...enough. Pros: Staff was incredibly friendly, we were in spot 103 and it was spacious. Cons: The campground could've been cleaner...our fire pit had beer cans and cigarette butts in it left behind from previous campers (we have a photo). Not sure how many people here were long term or full-timers.
Dec 18, 2024 · Brandy PeeplesStayed here for one night at a tent location as we were sleeping in our SUV and leaving early the next morning to get on the road. We arrived late for our stay and all our details were left at the office mail box in an envelope for check-in. Campsite was extremely quite and washroom facility were kept extremely clean. Very easy to locate off the highway.
