The environment surrounding Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday is described by reviewers as generally peaceful and offering natural beauty. One guest fondly recalled waking up next to the river, highlighting the scenic views and the presence of horses roaming in a nearby field. The location also provides direct access for launching kayaks, suggesting opportunities for water-based recreation. While the upper tent sites are noted to be on uneven, rocky terrain, the lower levels by the water are described as flat and more suitable for larger tents and families. The presence of deer, squirrels, rabbits, and even roosters adds to the natural ambiance, providing a true outdoor experience. However, potential visitors should be aware of a nearby gorge behind some of the upper campsites, requiring caution.
Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday prides itself on its friendly and attentive staff. Multiple reviews commend the front desk personnel and the general staff for being lovely, helpful, and proactive in checking up on guests daily. This emphasis on customer service contributes significantly to a positive camping experience. The campground offers a range of services and amenities aimed at making your stay comfortable and convenient. While a comprehensive list isn't available online, based on the KOA brand reputation and customer feedback, you can likely expect:
- Well-maintained restrooms and potentially shower facilities. However, one reviewer noted the need for a separate washing machine for pet-related items due to finding pet hair in all the machines.
- Potable water access and potentially electric hookups at some or all campsites.
- Designated areas for waste disposal.
- Recreational facilities or activities, although specifics are not detailed in the provided information. KOA campgrounds often feature amenities like playgrounds, swimming pools (seasonal), or game rooms.
- Potentially, a camp store for basic necessities and souvenirs.
- Wi-Fi access, although its availability and coverage may vary.
The features of Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday are diverse, catering to different accommodation preferences:
- Tent Sites: As mentioned by a reviewer, the upper tent sites are gravelly and uneven, best suited for smaller tents or RVs. The lower tent sites by the river offer a flatter, more grassy terrain ideal for larger tents and families. It's worth noting that the lower level may have more dirt and less grass. Access to bathrooms from the upper tent sites is described as a walk, and a suggestion was made for an additional bathroom on the lower level for increased convenience.
- Cabin Rentals: One positive review highlighted a stay in a 2-bedroom cabin with a private deck, describing it as fantastic with ample space and convenient proximity to restrooms. The private deck was a notable feature for relaxation.
- RV Sites: The uneven terrain of the upper sites is noted as being suitable for small RVs. Information regarding full hookups or specific RV site amenities is not available in the provided text.
- River Access: The campground offers access to a river, providing opportunities for kayaking and enjoying the waterfront. However, fishing requires a Pennsylvania fishing license, and the river is described as shallow in some areas with mostly small fish and carp. Beavers and river otters have also been observed.
While specific promotional information is absent, the positive reviews and the reputation of KOA campgrounds suggest inherent value in choosing Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday for your "camping near me" adventure. Consider the potential benefits:

Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday Reviews
Wow do I love this place!!! This is my second time here and I have had nothing but awesome experiences both times. First time we camped down by the river in a tent, which was gorgeous to wake up next to every morning. You can see horses roaming the field just across the way, and it’s a great place to launch a kayak from as well. The second time we stayed in a 2bd cabin with private deck and it was fantastic! The private deck was soooo nice to have (minus a few bees during the hotter parts of the day). The cabin had the perfect amount of space and wasn’t located too far from the restrooms. The staff here are lovely, the amenities are everything you could need and more, and the overall vibe here is very peaceful and chill. Highly recommend!!! We will be back.
Apr 19, 2025 · Kristi AnnWe had a nice time, it was cold, and experiencing in a 3 season tent was interesting. My opinion on the KOA : The front desk ladies were nice, all the Staff is friendly and checks up daily. The location is clean, and very quiet, on the off seasons. My concerns they want to check into:Please have a separate washing machine for people pets products.(-all the washing machine had pet hair and other pet stuff in all the washers. It was gross. I washed my clothes at a family washing machine down the road.Second: the tent sites are on uneven footing on top of the hill, not recommended for large tents. Perfect for small Rvs, and small 2 people tents. It’s rock ground(gravel) mixed with grass. And watch your footing you will hit rocks. I tripped at least 2 times. And it’s a walk to the bathrooms. Nice view of the stars and you have to be careful because a little walk behind the campsite it drops into a gorge (train tracks) deep fall. You have visited from deer and squirrels and rabbits. Hope you like roosters they will wake you up early morning. But on the lower levels, by the water it was peaceful. Very much dirt barely grass. But flat nice for large tents and families. Only down fall. I would put a bathroom down on the lower levels near the water. It will bring more visitors and you have room to put one there, because it is a long drive to the one bathroom . The end of the driveway down the hill needs to be fixed it has a sharp edge on the bottom right side near the forest edge, you do have river otters and beavers, lot of carp, but small amounts of small fish. Very shallow in some areas and you do have to have a Pa fishing licenses. Farm across the river. Very nice and pleasant. I would stay here again but on warmer days.
Nov 17, 2024 · Joanna AustinI would give this negative stars if it were possible. Narrow roads and tight curves getting in. Woman at desk was nice enough in person, but there was clearly a reason for that. We were given a site way too small for our rig and came dangerously close to bottoming out a couple of times. Sites are not level. The guy that took us up to our site threw our fire pit off our site when we got there. Picnic table was on a steep hillside and had nowhere level to sit. We ended up setting our chairs on a level spot that was only five feet from our RV but was apparently on another site since they decided to charge my card for the full amount of another night. I was not informed of it until I saw the extra charge on my account and called about it. They refused to refund it even though they said it was ok that my chairs ( all two of them that could've easily been moved) were there. They refused to let me speak to the owner and after multiple tries leaving messages I got no return call. I even had to call from a different number to get them to answer a second time. We will NEVER stay there again, and will be very reluctant to stay at another KOA at all. There were several other reasons I could include in this review, but you've been warned. DON'T STAY HERE! I have no idea how they've managed to get any good reviews at all. We've never had any problems with KOA or any other campground until this place.
Oct 27, 2024 · Christina MannA small and beautiful campground. We were there off-season, so not much going on eventwise but very peaceful. Nice walking! Staff was nice and helpful. We would go back.
Oct 30, 2024 · LKNice clean campground. The staff were great, pool was super clean. We have a 43' camper, the site could have been more level but was plenty big enough. The only issue we had was getting to the park, small back road with limbs hanging low. I would recommend this campground but be cautious getting there.
