Roamers Retreat Campground Introduce
For our local users in US seeking "camping near me" and exploring options in the Kinzers, PA area of the United States, we present Roamers Retreat Campground, located at 5005 Lincoln Hwy, Kinzers, PA 17535, USA. The available reviews present a mixed picture of this campground. One reviewer who stayed for approximately two months while relocating to the area had a positive experience, highlighting the accommodating office staff, spacious pull-through sites with reliable utilities (electricity, water, internet), and the friendliness of other long-term campers. However, another reviewer had a significantly negative experience during their month-long stay, citing a lack of expected amenities, poor property conditions, alleged owner absence, ineffective maintenance, and issues related to vandalism, theft, and being spied on, which they claim were not adequately addressed by the management and ultimately led to their eviction.
The environment surrounding Roamers Retreat Campground in Kinzers, Pennsylvania, is located along Lincoln Highway, which is a well-traveled route. Kinzers is situated in Lancaster County, known for its picturesque Amish farmlands and rolling hills. The positive review mentions "plenty of room" on the pull-through site, suggesting that the individual campsites might offer ample space. The reviewer also noted no interruptions to electricity, water, or internet, indicating that the basic utilities at their site were reliable. However, the negative review paints a starkly different picture of the property, describing it as "horrible" with "literally nothing to do." This suggests a potential discrepancy in the upkeep or the specific areas of the campground experienced by the two reviewers. The negative review explicitly states the absence of bathrooms, showers, and a playground, which are typically expected amenities at a campground. This lack of amenities could significantly impact the overall camping experience, especially for short-term visitors or families with children. The mention of maintenance staff only splitting wood and digging holes, without addressing other issues, further contributes to a negative perception of the property's upkeep.
The services offered at Roamers Retreat Campground appear to be a point of significant contention based on the provided reviews. The positive review highlights accommodating office staff who were "quick to respond" to inquiries without requiring in-person visits. They also mention reliable electricity, water, and internet at their pull-through site. The friendliness of other long-term campers, who offered advice and answered questions about the area, suggests a sense of community among some residents. In stark contrast, the negative review claims that upon arrival, they were informed of the absence of bathrooms, showers, and a playground, with only a laundry room available. They also reported that complaints about vandalism, theft, and being spied on were not adequately addressed by the office, with the only offered solution being a move to another site without further assistance. The reviewer also mentioned that only three out of six laundry machines were working, indicating a potential issue with the upkeep of this limited amenity. The conflicting reports make it difficult to ascertain the true extent and quality of the services provided. Potential visitors should inquire specifically about the availability and condition of essential amenities like restrooms, showers, and recreational facilities before making a reservation.
The features of Roamers Retreat Campground, as perceived by the two reviewers, are vastly different. The positive account emphasizes spacious pull-through sites suitable for a 38-foot RV, reliable utility connections, and a friendly community among long-term residents. The responsive office staff is also highlighted as a positive feature. However, the negative account describes a property with "literally nothing to do," lacking basic amenities like bathrooms, showers, and a playground. The alleged lack of owner presence and ineffective maintenance are also significant negative features. Furthermore, the reported incidents of vandalism, theft, and being spied on, and the perceived lack of action by the management, raise serious concerns about the safety and security of the campground. The fact that the negative reviewer claims they were ultimately evicted for a barking dog (despite their dog being old and rarely barking) after involving the law to address the unresolved issues paints a concerning picture of the management's handling of complaints and adherence to fair practices. Potential visitors should carefully consider these conflicting accounts and perhaps seek additional reviews or information from other sources to get a more comprehensive understanding of the campground's features and potential drawbacks.
Currently, there is no information available regarding any specific promotional offers or pricing for Roamers Retreat Campground based on the provided reviews. The positive reviewer mentioned staying for about two months while relocating, which suggests that long-term rates or discounts might be available. However, the negative reviewer did not mention any pricing details. To inquire about the current rates for both short-term and long-term stays, any potential discounts for extended stays, or any other special offers that might be available, it is essential to contact Roamers Retreat Campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Given the conflicting reports about the campground's overall quality and management, it would be prudent to also inquire about their policies regarding security, guest complaints, and the availability and condition of all advertised amenities before making a booking.
In conclusion, for our local users in US exploring "camping near me" in the Kinzers, PA area, Roamers Retreat Campground presents a complex picture based on the limited reviews. While one reviewer experienced a positive long-term stay with spacious sites, reliable utilities, and friendly neighbors, another reported significant issues including a lack of basic amenities, poor property conditions, alleged safety concerns, and unsatisfactory management response. These starkly contrasting experiences suggest that the quality of stay at Roamers Retreat Campground might vary. Potential visitors should carefully weigh these accounts and are strongly advised to contact the campground directly at (717) 442-4287 or +1 717-442-4287 to inquire about the current amenities, policies regarding safety and guest issues, and pricing before making a decision. It would also be beneficial to seek out additional, more recent reviews from other sources to gain a broader perspective on the current state of Roamers Retreat Campground.

Roamers Retreat Campground Reviews
Roamers Retreat is a wonderful place to stay. My family and I recently moved to the region, and we stayed here for about two months while getting on our feet and finding a more permanent place to live. The office staff were accommodating and quick to respond any time we contacted them without going up to the office. Our pull through site had plenty of room for our 38 footer, and we had no interruptions to electricity, water, or internet at any point during our stay. The other long term campers are all very nice and were quick to offer any advice or answer any questions we had about the area. 10/10 would stay again.
Oct 23, 2024 · William MarshallIf I could give zero stars I would DO NOT GO TO THIS CAMPGROUND!!! I visited this campground for about a month, when we first moved in we were told there are no bathrooms or showers no playground there’s nothing but a laundry room, cause that’s why everyone goes to a campground to do there laundry. the property is horrible there is literally nothing to do here the owners are non existent and the maintenance doesn’t do anything but split wood and dig holes for some reason and that’s jus the start. the first site we were at we got vandalized, had multiple packages stolen and were spied on by some weirdo next to us we made a complaint to the office about all theses things and nothing was done all they said was we could move to another site but they weren’t going to help, so we got the law involved and you would think that would make them fix are issue, but no they just kicked us out for a barking dog BTW MY DOG IS OLD AND RARELY BARKS. do not go here just go to another campsite near by that is cheaper and actually has things to do other than your laundry ps. only 3/6 machines work (this place is just sad)
Mar 17, 2025 · Stephen KiefferWe live here full-time and I can't say enough good things about this Campground. The staff are super friendly and will accommodate you any way they can. The maintenance man is super nice, he goes out of his way to make sure your taken care of and is talkative. It's a very nice situated Campground, situated in a convenient location, close to everything. The Amish come through Friday's and Saturdays selling baked goods for cheap! They are also renovating the campground, improving things, adding more sites and renovating. The laundry rooms are convenient to use as you can pay right through an app. Its very family oriented here and they don't put up with alot of BS, loud parties, obnoxiousness, etc so rest assured you'll have a very relaxed time! The office/game area is very clean and beautiful!
Oct 24, 2019 · Brittney YuskoMy family have been staying with Roamers for over 6 years now. We loved the small, quiet and friendly campground so much, we became Seasonal Campers about 4 years ago. The campground is under going major upgrades, which takes time. Any problems that arose, were taken care of immediately over the years and we look forward to many more years with them. The location is great and when the Amish neighbors stop by with fresh veggies and baked goods to sell....it's a good day!!!
Jan 13, 2016 · Rick FoxOur family does not know what those other campers are talking about. We love this campground. It's clean, it's so quiet, and we love the staff, old, and new, they are are terrific. They are there for you whenever you need them. We can't wait to come back to Roamers Retreat Campground every single year for the Rough and Tumble activities in August. We have always been given accurate information regarding campsite prices.
