The environment of the Lancaster / New Holland KOA Journey is a significant draw, particularly the scenic views. One reviewer noted, "The views are outstanding and ideal for a campground located in Amish country." The campground offers different types of sites to cater to various preferences. The "Executive Row" or "Countryside View" sites are tiered into the hillside, providing beautiful vistas of the surrounding farmlands. For those seeking a more secluded experience, there are also numerous sites tucked away in wooded areas at the back of the property. This variety allows campers to choose the setting that best suits their desired camping style.
In terms of services and features, the Lancaster / New Holland KOA Journey prioritizes cleanliness and helpfulness. Guests consistently praise the staff, with one stating, "The staff and workers were friendly and very helpful." The cleanliness of the facilities is also highlighted, as another reviewer mentioned, "The bathrooms were immaculate." While there isn't a large array of recreational amenities like a pool, the focus seems to be on providing a comfortable and well-maintained base for exploring the local area and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
One reviewer mentioned that the campground is conveniently located about 15 minutes from the towns of Intercourse and Bird in Hand, both known for their charming shops and Amish culture. This proximity allows campers to easily explore the local attractions and immerse themselves in the unique character of the region. The closure of the Amish bakery across the street due to the owners' retirement was noted as a disappointment by one guest, indicating that the local offerings contribute to the overall camping experience.
The reviews also provide some constructive feedback. One recurring point is the "low and inconsistent" water pressure, which was noticed on multiple visits. While this didn't significantly detract from the overall enjoyment for the reviewer, it's something potential visitors might want to be aware of. Another minor negative mentioned was the size of the fenced dog area at the front of the campground, which was described as "very small" compared to the available space, although a larger dog run is located at the back of the campground, which is a positive for pet owners.
For those searching for "camping near me" that offers a blend of peacefulness and scenic beauty, the Lancaster / New Holland KOA Journey is an excellent choice. Its location in Amish country provides a unique backdrop and easy access to local cultural experiences. The well-maintained facilities and friendly service ensure a comfortable stay, whether you're in an RV, a tent, or a cabin (though cabins weren't specifically mentioned in these reviews, KOA campgrounds often offer them). The availability of different site types, from those with panoramic views to secluded wooded spots, caters to a variety of preferences.
While specific promotional information isn't included in the provided reviews, the positive testimonials themselves act as a strong recommendation. Lancaster / New Holland KOA Journey Reviews
My wife and I have stayed here twice now and love it. Very well kept and peaceful. No pool and only a small playground area, but those things don't bother us at all. For first timers I'd recommend either the Executive Row or Countryside View sites, which are tiered into the hillside overlooking the farmlands. There are many other sites hidden in wooded areas to the back of the property which gives a totally different experience depending on what you prefer. We have done Countryside View on both visits and may give the wooded sites a try next time. The campground is about 15 minutes from the towns of Intercourse and Bird in Hand which both have many shops to check out. The Amish bakery that was across the street from the campground unfortunately closed recently due to the owners retiring, which is a bummer. The negatives are minor. Water pressure seems low and inconsistent, an issue we noticed a year prior on first visit and still existed this time. Pressure was low even after many others left at the end of a weekend. It didn't bother us, was just something we noticed. Other thing would be that the fenced dog area in the front of the campground is very small even though there is a lot of space to expand. The dog run area in back of campground is notably larger. Overall we really enjoy staying here and will be back many more times in the future.
Apr 27, 2025 · Steven FarrellThis campground is well cared for, clean and quiet. The views are outstanding and ideal for a campground located in Amish country. The staff and workers were friendly and very helpful. The bathrooms were immaculate. We will certainly be staying here again!
Apr 25, 2025 · LKWe use as our last stop on our way home a lot. Very nice and clean. The views are great. Only reasons I don't give it five stars is the laundry is small for the size of the park. Still out go-to place in Lancaster County.
Jan 16, 2025 · chuck coleVery very nice campground. It is kept clean and orderly. Dog areas for dogs to run is great so they dont scare children. Nice too for people with allergies to avoid having asthma attacks. Beautiful view and close to shopping but still out in the countryside with beautiful sunsets. I highly recommend.
Nov 16, 2024 · John JoyHad a great camp stay at the KOA. Loved our visit to Lancaster. Super-clean bathrooms. Quiet campground while we were there....aside form the Cicadas. I couldn't believe how loud they are this year. Friendly staff, great fresh fruit market up the road. Great time to visit during peach season for the Red Haven Peaches. That being said, if you are a peach-lover, give the donut peaches a try. They taste like candy!
