When planning a camping trip, finding the right location with the desired environment, services, and features is essential. Platforms that categorize listings under "camping near me" help users discover various campgrounds in their vicinity. Hayfork Group Campground, situated in Idaho City, offers a potentially appealing outdoor experience, especially for group gatherings.
Based on the available customer reviews, the environment at Hayfork Group Campground seems to offer a pleasant natural setting. One reviewer who had a family reunion there described it as a "nice campground." They also noted the absence of mosquitoes, which is a significant plus for many campers. While there were some flies, they were not considered bad. Another reviewer simply stated it was a "pretty nice campground," suggesting a generally positive impression of the location.
The soundscape of the campground is also mentioned, with one reviewer pointing out that "the waterway masks the highway sound nicely." This indicates that despite potential proximity to a highway, the natural sound of a nearby water source helps to create a more tranquil camping environment. This could be a significant advantage for those seeking a peaceful outdoor experience when looking at "camping near me" options.
In terms of services, the reviews provide some insights. The campground has bathrooms, which is a fundamental amenity for many campers. There is also technically running water, although it requires manual pumping. One reviewer found this "pretty cool," noting that the water is cold and tastes good. This suggests a more rustic water provision system compared to fully developed campgrounds. However, the availability of water and restroom facilities adds to the basic comfort of the site.
Regarding features, one review mentions a small area where kids can play in the creek. However, they noted that during the 4th of July weekend, there was no serious swimming or fishing in that area. This suggests that while there is a water feature, it might be more suitable for wading and play rather than more involved water activities. The same review also mentioned that it was a "nice camp ground" overall.
Another reviewer commented on some of the infrastructure, noting that "the benches were in ok shape: exposed rebar, wrapped seats and, 'gopher' holes, but serviceable." This suggests that while the amenities might not be brand new or perfectly maintained, they are still functional. This level of detail can be helpful for those comparing different options under "camping near me" and considering the condition of provided facilities.
An important point raised in one of the reviews is that "this is tick territory." The reviewer shared that a friend "acquired a hitchhiker," referring to a tick. This is a crucial piece of information for potential visitors, highlighting the need for precautions against ticks, such as using insect repellent, wearing appropriate clothing, and checking for ticks after spending time outdoors. This is a factor to consider for anyone exploring camping options in this region.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the given data. Typically, campgrounds might promote special rates for group bookings, seasonal discounts, or highlight unique features of their location. To find out if Hayfork Group Campground has any current promotions, it would be best to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers.
Considering the information from the customer reviews, Hayfork Group Campground appears to be a reasonably pleasant location, particularly for group gatherings, as indicated by its name. The natural environment is appreciated, with the sound of a waterway helping to mitigate highway noise. Basic services like bathrooms and manually pumped running water are available. While there's a creek for kids to play in, serious swimming or fishing might not be readily accessible on-site. Potential visitors should also be aware of the presence of ticks in the area.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Hayfork Group Campground offers a seemingly decent option in the Idaho City area. To get a more comprehensive understanding and to inquire about specific needs or group arrangements, contacting them directly at (208) 392-6681 would be advisable.

Hayfork Group Campground Reviews
Just had a family reunion gathering up there today. A nice camp ground, did not see a single mosquito. Some flies, but not bad. There are bathrooms, and technically running water, but you have to pump it, it's actually pretty cool. The water is cold and tastes pretty good. There is a small area that kids can play in the creek, but no serious swimming or fishing, at least not when we were there 4th of July weekend.
Jul 06, 2018 · Justin VickeryPretty nice campground. The waterway masks the highway sound nicely. SST was fly free. The benches were in ok shape: exposed rebar, wrapped seats and, "gopher" holes, but serviceable.Be mindful this is tick territory. A friend acquired a hitchhiker.
May 22, 2024 · Alan BurgesserI like Hayfork...went in 2022 and had a fantastic time. Spacious, with trails, and creeks and rivers close by. Better than Granite Creek!
Aug 03, 2024 · Jared DurenThis is one of my favorite places to be. Absolutely beautiful creek and trees. The group campground was not reserved so we had almost the entire campground to ourselves. Very quiet and peaceful. Very little traffic noise. Great place to relax and chill in the creek.
Jul 21, 2021 · Rhonda JoslynPretty rustic but pretty setting. RV pads are uneven and hard to level. The double sites are inadequate fir 2 RVs.
