Hilton Camping Loop Introduce
For local residents in the Baltimore, Maryland area seeking "camping near me" that offers a unique blend of natural tranquility and convenient proximity to urban amenities, Hilton Camping Loop, located at 1101 Hilton Ave, Catonsville, MD 21228, USA, presents an intriguing option. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground boasts a "great setting" and is surprisingly close to the city of Baltimore and all it has to offer, while also providing a peaceful escape from the "hussle and bussle of city life." The staff is consistently described as "generous" and "very nice," contributing to a positive camping experience. However, potential visitors should be aware of some reported complexities regarding the online booking process.
One reviewer noted that the registration process could be "kind of convoluted," leading to some initial time and patience being required for those involved. This complexity is primarily attributed to the campground's website setup, which is described as having "more restrictions than simple accommodations." The reviewer specifically mentioned overlapping and conflicting restrictions that make booking online "somewhat harder than it should be or that may be practical."
Specifically, the reviewer highlighted two key booking limitations: the inability to book within 24 hours of arrival or on the same day, coupled with a mandatory two-day minimum stay. This combination created a logistical challenge for the reviewer who planned to arrive on a Friday for a two-day stay but was unable to pre-book on Thursday due to the 24-hour booking restriction. Consequently, they had to wait until their arrival on Friday to register and choose their spot. Potential campers with similar last-minute plans or those seeking a single-night stay should take these booking restrictions into careful consideration.
Despite these reported challenges with the online booking system, the overall sentiment towards Hilton Camping Loop is positive once the logistical hurdles are overcome. The reviewer who experienced the booking difficulties still acknowledged that it is a "nice campsite" run in person by "very nice people in a great setting." This suggests that while the online experience might be less than ideal, the in-person experience at the campground itself is commendable, characterized by a pleasant environment and friendly staff.
Another reviewer echoed the positive sentiments about the campground, describing it as "exceptional" and highlighting the generosity of the staff. A particularly noteworthy aspect mentioned is the surprising proximity to the city, making it hard to believe that one is just minutes away from the "hussle and bussle of city life." This unique location offers the advantage of easy access to Baltimore's attractions, dining, and entertainment while providing a peaceful retreat within the campground itself. For local users seeking "camping near me" who also want to explore the city, Hilton Camping Loop offers a convenient base.
Furthermore, this reviewer praised the cleanliness of the bathroom facilities, describing them as "so clean." Clean and well-maintained restrooms are a significant factor in the overall comfort and satisfaction of campers, and this positive feedback indicates that Hilton Camping Loop prioritizes hygiene in its facilities. Additionally, the presence of a front gate that is "locked at night" provides an "extra feel of security," which can be a valuable reassurance for campers, especially those traveling alone or with families.
Considering the platform category "camping near me," Hilton Camping Loop offers a compelling option for local residents seeking a convenient and secure camping experience close to Baltimore. The "great setting" suggests a pleasant natural environment, while the proximity to the city allows for easy access to urban amenities and attractions. The "generous" and "very nice" staff contribute to a welcoming and positive atmosphere. However, potential campers should be prepared for the reported complexities in the online booking process, including the 24-hour booking restriction and the two-day minimum stay requirement.
In summary, Hilton Camping Loop provides a unique opportunity for "camping near me" that combines the tranquility of a well-regarded campsite with the convenience of being just minutes from Baltimore. The positive aspects highlighted by reviewers include the friendly and generous staff, the clean bathroom facilities, and the added sense of security provided by a locked front gate at night. While the online booking system has been noted as somewhat convoluted with specific restrictions regarding booking windows and minimum stays, the in-person experience at the campground appears to be highly satisfactory.
For local users in the Catonsville and greater Baltimore area looking for a conveniently located campground with a pleasant environment and friendly service, Hilton Camping Loop is worth considering. However, it is advisable to carefully review the booking policies and potentially contact the campground directly to clarify any uncertainties regarding reservations, especially for those with specific arrival dates or stay durations in mind. Despite the initial logistical challenges some users have faced with online booking, the overall positive feedback regarding the campsite itself, its setting, staff, and facilities suggests a worthwhile "camping near me" experience.

Hilton Camping Loop Reviews
It's kind of convoluted to get registered, which cost everyone involved some time and some patience to get sorted initially. This is mainly because their website is set up with more restrictions than simple accommodations. Some of which overlap and conflict with each other in a way that makes booking online somewhat harder than it should be or that may be practical. That is to say you can't book 24hrs out or on the same day, but they also require a two-day minimum stay. For me this meant that while I was planning on arriving on Friday for a two-day stay, I could not get past the two hurtles required to pre-book on Thursday and instead had to wait until I arrived on Friday before I could get registered or pick my spot.Outside of that bit of logistics chess, it is a nice campsite however, run in person by very nice people in a great setting, also surprisingly close to the city of Baltimore and all that has to offer.
Mar 23, 2025 · Paul KellyThis campground is exceptional. The staff is generous. It is hard to imagine you are minutes from the hussle and bussle of city life. The bathroom is so clean - and the (locked at night) front gate gives an extra feel of security,

Each cabin has a covered porch, parking for 2 vehicles, outdoor picnic table and fire pit. The bathhouse is just a short walk away.
