Hinsdale RV Resort & Campground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me," Hinsdale RV Resort & Campground, located at 4 S Rd, Hinsdale, NH 03451, USA, presents a mixed landscape of tranquility and potential. Situated in southern New Hampshire, this campground offers a seemingly peaceful retreat with access to both natural beauty and nearby conveniences. However, it's essential for prospective campers to consider both the positive aspects highlighted by some visitors and the areas where others have noted room for improvement.
On the positive side, many guests have praised the friendly and welcoming nature of both the on-site staff and fellow campers. The overall atmosphere is often described as very quiet and relaxing, making it an appealing option for those seeking a peaceful getaway. A significant highlight for many is the "super nice and clean" pool area, which features ample seating in both sunny and shaded spots, providing a comfortable space to unwind during warmer months. For those interested in off-road adventures, the campground offers ATV sites with access to a small trail system that includes a pretty overlook, adding a unique recreational element to the camping experience.
Hinsdale RV Resort & Campground also occasionally hosts weekend activities, with potlucks being a common occurrence, fostering a sense of community among campers. Some visitors have particularly enjoyed the instances when a band played by the pool, describing it as "awesome!" The Fourth of July weekend appears to be a standout event, with a large fireworks show enjoyed by everyone who gathered in a large field, often using golf carts, ATVs, or cars to reach the viewing area. This suggests a strong sense of community and organized entertainment during peak seasons.
The location of Hinsdale RV Resort & Campground is another cited advantage. Its proximity to the Connecticut River opens up opportunities for water-based activities. Additionally, the campground is conveniently close to Brattleboro, Vermont, offering easy access to a variety of amenities such as restaurants, movie theaters, bowling alleys, parks, and hiking trails. For everyday needs, the campground is also near practical establishments like Walmart, Runnings, and Tractor Supply, making it convenient to stock up on supplies or run errands.
However, it's crucial to acknowledge the concerns raised by other reviewers to provide a balanced perspective for local users considering this "camping near me" option. While the rec hall is described as beautiful, some guests have noted that it is "rarely" used for activities, suggesting a potential underutilization of this facility. Suggestions for improvement include updating the stained furniture, removing a moldy pool table, and adding arcade-style games to enhance its appeal. Similarly, the playground has been described as "falling apart and boring," which may be a significant drawback for families with young children. Another point mentioned is the limited number of seasonal kids, which could impact the social experience for children staying at the campground.
For those planning to bring boats or trailers, it's important to note that parking is reportedly in the woods under pine trees, which could lead to sap dripping onto the vehicles. Additionally, some campsites experience the formation of large puddles during rain, although these are said to dry up relatively quickly. One reviewer with a new seasonal ATV site reported it being muddy, not level, and unfinished. Furthermore, the lack of cable or Wi-Fi necessitates the purchase of a personal hotspot device or a monthly Wi-Fi plan through a cellular carrier, which is an additional cost and inconvenience to consider.
Safety concerns have also been raised, with one reviewer mentioning a "half dead tree" on their site that appeared ready to fall, potentially onto their camper, screenhouse, or a neighbor's camper. While staff were informed, the resolution process was reportedly slow and eventually led to the campers being told they could remove it themselves with associated liability. This raises questions about the responsiveness to and handling of safety hazards.
Experiences with individual campsites appear to vary. One reviewer found their site to be level but very close to the adjacent one. The placement of the fire ring next to a neighbor's sewer hookup and the other neighbor's driver's door was also noted as less than ideal. Another concern was a small dead tree posing a potential hazard to their vehicle. Pet owners should be aware that there is no dog park, and at least one reviewer was unable to put up a dog fence, requiring their pets to be leashed to the picnic table. Additionally, some campsites have very little grass, which may affect comfort and aesthetics. These comments suggest that the quality and layout of individual campsites can be inconsistent.
Despite these criticisms, the helpfulness of the front office staff, particularly Barbara, was acknowledged, especially in assisting with propane refills, even though it required a trip off-site. The inoperable site pole lights were another minor inconvenience mentioned. Overall, one reviewer concluded that the actual campsite experience did not live up to the expectations set by the website.
In conclusion, Hinsdale RV Resort & Campground offers a quiet and friendly atmosphere with a nice pool and access to ATV trails, along with a convenient location near the Connecticut River and Brattleboro. However, potential local users considering "camping near me" should also be aware of the reported issues, including the underutilized rec hall, subpar playground, potential campsite limitations, lack of Wi-Fi and cable, and varying levels of site quality and safety concerns. It would be prudent for prospective campers to inquire about specific site conditions and available amenities before booking to ensure it meets their expectations for a relaxing and enjoyable camping experience.

Hinsdale RV Resort & Campground Reviews
Friendly and welcoming on-site staff and campers. Very quiet and relaxing campground. Pool is super nice and clean with plenty of spots to sit in the shade or sun. Atv sites have access to a small trail system with a pretty overlook. Some activities on the weekends, mostly potlucks. They had a band play by the pool a couple times which was awesome! 4th of July was the best weekend, everyone rode their golf carts/atvs/cars to the trail system and watched a wonderful fireworks show from a large field. The area is great! Very close to the Connecticut river and Brattleboro for restaurants, movies, bowling, parks and hiking trails. The campground is super close to Walmart, Runnings & Tractor Supply. This campground has a lot of potential. The rec hall is beautiful but there was rarely anything going on. They could update the stained furniture, remove the moldy pool table and maybe add a couple arcade style games to liven it up. The playground is falling apart and boring. Not many seasonal kids around if you have children. If you bring your boat or trailer you need to park it in the woods under pine trees dripping onto them. When it rains, some huge puddles form across some sites but they dry up pretty quickly. We had a new seasonal atv site so it was a little muddy, not level and unfinished. No cable or wifi (we had to purchase a hotspot device/pay for a monthly wifi plan from our cellular carrier). There was a half dead tree they left behind on our site that was ready to fall over, possibly onto our camper, screenhouse or the neighbor’s camper. We informed staff and they notified the owner, Evergreen Communities, who said they would remove it that week. Weeks went by and then they finally said we could remove it ourselves as long as we knew we were liable if anything were damaged.
Mar 15, 2024 · T ZuffThe campsite is a bit disappointing. Our site is level but really close to the next one. The fire ring is next to the next site’s sewer and the fire ring on the other side is next to our driver’s door. There’s a small dead tree that if it falls will land on our Jeep. And we can’t put up our dog fence up so our pups have to be on a leash tied to the picnic table when outside and there is no dog park. The campsite has very little grass. Not the best campsite we’ve been to. Barbara at the front office was a great help especially when we needed to fill up our onboard propane tank - no one certified here so we had to drive a mile out to get propane. The site pole lights don’t work. The campsite does not do justice to the website.
May 17, 2024 · Sunita ShouseNice pool. Quiet campground. You can tell previous campers have ruined the experience by changes that have been made and things being kept locked up requiring you to ask to use certain things.
Jun 22, 2024 · Sarah GuptillWe had a really nice weekend at Hinsdale Campground. We live just across the river but wanted to sleep in our new tent and have an easy getaway. Such a sweet place to visit with kids! The office attendant was warm and helpful. The facilities, bathhouse, and pool were spotless. The pool is big, well maintained, and hidden in the back to make for almost a resort feel. The campsite was wooded and lovely. We talked with some seasonal residents who were the nicest and most welcoming people. It was warm summer nights and the campground was hopping, but it quieted down entirely by 9:30 pm with the only sounds being cracking campfires. I felt like we found a hidden treasure!
Jul 01, 2021 · Holly TippettNice campground, facilities clean, some of the sites are too narrow. So narrow, you can't put your picnic table under your awning because the sewer, water electric hookups for the site next to you are right there. Would come back, as long as I can pick the site.
