If you're searching for a campground that combines the beauty of Vermont with ample entertainment options and excellent service, Kampfires might be your next favorite spot.
The environment surrounding Kampfires Campground is likely characterized by the scenic beauty of southern Vermont. Dummerston is situated in a region known for its rolling hills, forests, and proximity to the Connecticut River. While the reviews don't explicitly detail the natural landscape of the campground itself, the positive mention of the surrounding area being "beautiful" in the Fall suggests that Kampfires is located in a visually appealing region that offers seasonal charm. The presence of walking trails within the campground indicates an opportunity to explore the immediate natural surroundings and enjoy leisurely strolls.
Kampfires Campground truly lives up to the "Entertainment" part of its name, boasting a "large number of activities" to keep guests of all ages engaged. One of the standout features is the "incredibly fun mini golf course," providing a source of amusement for families and friendly competition. The inclusion of a "large rec field" suggests ample space for various outdoor games and sports. For adults looking for a more relaxed setting, the presence of an "adult lounge" offers a dedicated space for socializing and unwinding. The availability of a store with a "lending library of books and DVDs" is a thoughtful amenity, providing entertainment options for quieter moments or inclement weather. These diverse activities set Kampfires apart as a "camping near me" option that caters to a wide range of interests.
In terms of services, Kampfires Campground appears to excel in customer care. The reviews highlight "fantastic communication and customer service," indicating that the staff is attentive and responsive to guests' needs. The availability of firewood is a standard but essential service for camping, and Kampfires goes a step further by offering it after hours via a drop box and even providing delivery to campsites, adding convenience for campers. While one reviewer noted that "a number of the sites were not level," it's important to consider this when selecting a site, especially for RVs. However, the reviewer with a large fifth wheel mentioned being able to navigate the "tight" roads, suggesting that the campground can accommodate larger vehicles, though caution might be needed in some areas.
The features of Kampfires Campground extend beyond just activities and services. The mention of walking trails directly within the campground is a significant feature for those who enjoy exploring on foot. The adult lounge provides a unique amenity not commonly found in traditional campgrounds. The mini golf course and large rec field offer structured and informal recreational opportunities. The lending library adds a touch of home and convenience for entertainment. The availability of firewood with flexible purchasing options is another notable feature. While the proximity of neighboring spots with "no bushes or other dividers between" might be a drawback for those seeking more privacy, the overall atmosphere seems to prioritize community and engagement.
Promotional information isn't explicitly stated as discounts or special offers in the reviews. However, the positive feedback itself acts as a strong promotion. The fact that one reviewer considers it a regular end-of-season destination and had a "wonderful stay as usual" speaks volumes about the consistent quality of the campground. The availability of brochures outlining the surrounding area and fun activities serves as a promotion for exploring the local region, encouraging guests to extend their stay and engage with the broader Vermont landscape. The campground's ability to accommodate guests even on a "holiday weekend" suggests its popularity and the value people find in staying there.
For local users searching for "camping near me" for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation, Kampfires offers a compelling package of activities, amenities, and positive customer experiences. The combination of traditional camping with entertainment options like mini golf and a rec field makes it particularly attractive for families. The adult lounge provides a separate space for relaxation, catering to a diverse range of campers. The convenience of firewood delivery and the lending library add extra layers of service that enhance the overall stay.
While the lack of privacy between some campsites and the unevenness of certain sites are points to consider, the overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding the activities, customer service, and overall enjoyment suggests that Kampfires provides a valuable "camping near me" option. Local residents planning a visit might want to inquire about site levels when booking and be prepared for a more communal camping experience in some areas. The one-way traffic at the gate being "a little confusing in the dark" is a minor logistical detail to be aware of upon arrival.
The consistently positive experiences of returning visitors, like the one who stays at the end of the camping season, highlight the appeal and reliability of Kampfires Campground. The fact that this reviewer found "nothing missing or that they could've done better" is a strong testament to the campground's commitment to guest satisfaction. The readily available brochures about the surrounding area further encourage local exploration and highlight the campground's role as a gateway to the attractions of southern Vermont.
In conclusion, Kampfires Campground, Inn & Entertainment near Dummerston, VT, offers local users a dynamic "camping near me" experience with a wide range of activities and excellent customer service. The environment provides a scenic backdrop for a getaway, and the features like the mini golf course, adult lounge, rec field, and lending library ensure there's something for everyone. Kampfires Campground, Inn & Entertainment Reviews
This campground has a large number of activities. The communication and customer service are fantastic. A number of the sites were not level. Walking trails, adult lounge, large rec field, and incredibly fun mini golf course! The store also has a lending library of books and DVDs if you need to occupy yourself. This spot served our needs, and we were lucky to find a spot on a holiday weekend. Most of the firewood was dry and burned well. It is available after hours with a drop box, which was handy. They will also deliver. The one-way traffic at the gate is a little confusing in the dark. Some roads were tight, but we were able to navigate a large fifth wheel. The neighbor spots are quite close with no bushed or other dividers between.
Oct 23, 2024 · J TinsmanI tend to stay here at the end of the camping season in the Fall when everything in the surrounding area is beautiful. My stay was wonderful as usual. There was nothing missing or that they could've done better. I enjoy the brochures outlining the surrounding area & fun activities that you have readily available ~ thank you for that!
Oct 30, 2024 · Bobbi RougeauWe had a large group of family stay over the weekend.. We found the staff to be helpful and friendly. Our 10 year old loved the large pool and ice cream. There were several other larger groups, yet no one was loud. we had a pleasant stay and would not hesitate to stay again. The sites and restrooms were very clean and grounds were well kept. NICE PEOPLE.. !!
Jul 29, 2024 · Scott MitchellWe stayed at this campground over a long weekend, while attending a nearby vintage camper event. It was a pleasant stay and a very well kept campground. The sites are a nice size and are extremely clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They had firewood delivered to our site before we arrived. There rates are very reasonable. We will definitely camp there again.
