My husband and I had camped there back when the parents were still alive. Lovely people. Years later decided to go back with our 5th wheel. We had a seasonal site. The site across from us had become available so we decided we liked that site better and called to have the trailer moved while out of season so that we could just come up and it would be all set. Covid had come along during this time so we didn’t get up there until the following season. My mom and I went up to clean it up for opening of the season just to be horrified. The inside had wood cabinets that were all broken and unhinged, split. Lights were hanging. Water had been pouring through the ceiling and air conditioning unit. You could clearly see that when the trailer was moved in it had hit a tree and had jack knived. We had just gotten this trailer the season before at Longview and it was in perfect condition Keystone Cougar.. None the less immediately went down to office to be told they had no idea what had happened and it wasn’t anything they had done. The trailer was only moved by them. They totally took no responsibility and said it wasn’t their problem. They never offered to put a claim in on insurance or any help at all. Had Longview pick trailer up and they said it was totaled and didn’t even want it. Mind you we had just gotten it season before from them and it wasn’t brand new but it was very nice and something that we spent our hard earned money on. Newfane has a clan of people that have been going for years and aren’t the friendliest to new comers. When your checking in for first time it’s all smiles while your paying them , after that don’t expect any niceness or courteousness from all the people who hang out in front of office or that are the lifers there. The mom and dad were so nice years ago and his son and wife that took it over after their passing are nothing like they were. We have moved on and now go camping by tenting. Yes tenting. I have to say it’s pretty fun but still can’t believe that these people ruined my beautiful trailer and didn’t stand behind their faultful actions at all. They just totally disregarded the whole situation and I would never ever recommend this campground again. They should be ashamed of themselves as they know what they did and just didn’t care and hid from the situation. I believe in Karma. - Lois Warren

Kenolie Village Campground Introduce

Looking for "camping near me" in the scenic state of Vermont? Kenolie Village Campground, located at 16 Kenolie Campground Rd, Newfane, VT 05345, USA, might be an option to consider. With a contact phone number of (802) 365-7671 or mobile at +1 802-365-7671, this campground has garnered varied feedback from visitors over the years.

Based on customer reviews, the experience at Kenolie Village Campground appears to have evolved over time with changes in ownership. One long-time camper reminisced about the previous owners, describing them as "lovely people." This suggests that the campground once had a reputation for a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. This former guest revisited the campground with a fifth wheel and initially secured a seasonal site. They later opted for a different site across from theirs and arranged for their trailer to be moved during the off-season.

However, the subsequent experience was far from positive. Upon returning for the new season after the trailer move, the camper and their mother were reportedly "horrified" to find significant damage to their trailer. They described broken and unhinged wood cabinets, hanging lights, and evidence of water damage through the ceiling and air conditioning unit. The reviewer stated that it was clear the trailer had been damaged, likely by hitting a tree and jackknifing during the move, which was solely handled by the campground staff.

According to this review, when the damage was reported to the office, the response was that they had "no idea what had happened" and denied any responsibility, stating it "wasn’t anything they had done." The reviewer further claimed that the campground did not offer to file an insurance claim or provide any assistance. Consequently, the damaged trailer was deemed totaled by another company. This negative experience led the reviewer to express strong dissatisfaction with the current management and a reluctance to recommend the campground.

Adding another layer to the feedback, the same reviewer mentioned that Newfane has a community of long-time campers who are not particularly welcoming to newcomers. They noted that the initial check-in might be pleasant while payment is being processed, but afterward, friendliness and courtesy from long-term residents around the office might diminish. The reviewer contrasted this with the positive experiences they had with the previous owners, suggesting a change in the overall community feel under the new management (the son and wife of the previous owners).

On a more positive note, another reviewer expressed a completely different sentiment, stating, "I love this campground there are so many fun activities to do the people ate so nice There's always something to do the owners are amazing and We love it here." This contrasting review indicates that some visitors have had very enjoyable experiences at Kenolie Village Campground, highlighting fun activities, nice people, and amazing owners.

Given these divergent experiences, local users searching for "camping near me" should approach Kenolie Village Campground with a balanced perspective. The campground's location in Newfane, Vermont, suggests a potentially scenic environment typical of the region. The mention of "fun activities" in one review hints at possible amenities or organized events within the campground. The positive comment about the owners being "amazing" also suggests that some guests find the current management to be a significant asset.

However, the detailed negative review regarding the damaged trailer and the handling of the situation raises concerns about the level of responsibility and customer service that might be expected in certain circumstances. The comment about the unwelcoming nature of some long-term residents could also be a factor for those seeking a particularly friendly and inclusive camping community.

For local users considering Kenolie Village Campground as a "camping near me" option, it would be prudent to contact them directly to inquire about the current environment, services, and features. You could ask about:

  • The types of campsites available (e.g., seasonal, short-term, RV, tent)

  • Any organized activities or events
  • The general atmosphere and community within the campground

For those in the "camping near me" category looking for a local option, Kenolie Village Campground warrants further inquiry to determine if it meets your expectations. Contacting them directly is recommended to get a clearer sense of the current environment and services offered.
