I-29 Hwy 34 Campground Introduce
Are you looking for a conveniently located and budget-friendly 'camping near me' option near Omaha, Nebraska? I-29 Hwy 34 Campground, situated at 19281 Hanna Ave, Pacific Junction, IA 51561, USA, offers easy access to Interstate 29 and is just a short drive from Omaha. Based on customer reviews, this campground provides a safe and accessible stopover with some family-friendly amenities, although it is important to be aware of the surrounding environment.
The environment of I-29 Hwy 34 Campground is primarily characterized by its ease of access to major transportation routes. As the name suggests, it is located directly off I-29 and near Highway 34. This makes it a particularly convenient choice for travelers passing through the area or those looking for 'camping near me' with quick access to Omaha, which is about a half-hour drive away. The campground is reached via a "long, but flat and smooth gravel drive going through a field," indicating a straightforward entry. However, its proximity to the highway and the presence of train tracks that you cross to reach the campground mean that noise from traffic and trains is a significant environmental factor to consider.
In terms of services and amenities, I-29 Hwy 34 Campground offers basic but appreciated facilities. One reviewer mentioned a "clean showerhouse," which is a significant plus for campers looking for hygiene facilities. For families, a "playground" is available, providing a dedicated space for children to play and burn off energy. The campground also offers electric hookups at each site and water hookups approximately every third site. There is no sewer connection at the individual sites, but a dump site is available for RV users. The campground operates on a self-payment system where you fill out a form and place the payment in an envelope in a drop box. A phone number is provided for any questions or for booking, with one reviewer noting that the "lady on the phone was super helpful and booked us right away."
A notable feature of I-29 Hwy 34 Campground is its affordability, with a nightly rate of only $25, and potentially cheaper weekly or monthly rates. This budget-friendly pricing makes it an attractive option for those seeking 'camping near me' without breaking the bank. The presence of a fence around the campground is also highlighted as a safety feature, providing a barrier to prevent children from accidentally wandering onto the nearby highway.
However, one customer review presents a contrasting experience regarding the campground's policies. This review describes an individual being turned away during a winter storm due to their older RV being deemed "too old" despite numerous vacant spots. This suggests a potential preference for newer RV models and a possible inflexibility in accommodating travelers in older but functional vehicles, even during adverse weather conditions. Local users with older RVs might want to inquire specifically about the campground's policies regarding the age and condition of recreational vehicles before making a reservation.
Despite this negative experience, the first review indicates a generally quiet atmosphere among the campers themselves, noting that "other people keep to themselves." This could be appealing for those who prefer a more private and less communal camping experience. However, the trade-off for this quiet among campers is the noise from the external environment, specifically the highway traffic and the train. If you are sensitive to noise, this is a crucial factor to consider when choosing I-29 Hwy 34 Campground as your 'camping near me' option.
The easy in and out access to the highway is a significant convenience for travelers, making it a practical stop for those visiting Omaha or simply passing through the region. The long, flat, and smooth gravel drive to the campground, while through a field, is reported as easy to navigate. The helpfulness of the staff over the phone in facilitating quick bookings is also a positive aspect of their service.
In conclusion, I-29 Hwy 34 Campground offers an affordable and easily accessible 'camping near me' option, particularly for those traveling to or through the Omaha area. The campground provides essential amenities such as electric and water hookups, a dump site, a clean showerhouse, and a playground. The safety fence is a notable feature for families with young children. However, potential campers should be aware of the significant noise from the adjacent highway and occasional trains. Additionally, there is a reported instance of inflexibility regarding older RVs. For local users who prioritize convenience and budget-friendliness and are not overly sensitive to noise, I-29 Hwy 34 Campground could be a suitable choice. Contacting them at (402) 690-4266 or +1 402-690-4266 is recommended to inquire about availability, specific policies regarding RVs, and any current rates or promotions beyond the mentioned nightly fee of $25.

I-29 Hwy 34 Campground Reviews
A nice safe easy access campground. It's only $25/night Or cheaper by the week or month. It is only about a half hour from Omaha. The kids loved the playground and the showerhouse was clean. I liked that it had a fence so the kids accidentally go on the highway.Other people keep to themselves, so it's quiet in that way.But it is noisy from the highway traffic and the train when it comes through. You cross the tracks to get there. It is literally so easy to get on the highway, an easy in and out. It's a long, but flat and smooth gravel drive to campground going through a field. The lady on the phone was super helpful and booked us right away. To pay or when you show up, you fill put a little form and put the envelope in a box. There is a phone number to call if you have any questions. If you don't mind the traffic and train, it's great place to stay for the whole family, while visiting Omaha or passing through.
Aug 27, 2024 · Rebbeca R.I called for a spot because of winter storm it's 0* feels like -15 plenty spots available! He couldn't rent a spot for the night . This place is right off interstate 29 nothing special . No high class or brand new RVs. But because our is a 77 miniwini that we purchased to bring back to life and people love it. ...being said it was to old for him to rent many of his vacant spots just for one night so we could get off road for the winter blast coming through. So much for Safe Travels. I do believe he own the no in front of the camp park. People always judging others will find themselves in a worse place eventually... :you get what u put in and people get what the deserve: "kidrock" I just can't understand what kind of people turn down others for the reason of my RV is not good enough for there camp(pics added) when the US is under a winter Blast. Smh I hope to never be those kind of people.
Jan 19, 2025 · HeyLee QuinlynGreat stop! We are a full time family traveling through the area. We stayed here 3 nights. There is a section for long term stays and then a section for overnight stays. We were in the overnight area. The road noise from the interstate was noticeable but didn't both us. There was a nice playground for our kids. I didn't use the bathhouse so I can't speak for that. Interactions with the owners were pleasant. We arrived after a few days of rain in the area. I was intimidated by the gravel road (PTSD from the super mud conditions at Badlands Boondocking in SD) but it wasn't a big deal at all. You cross train tracks on the gravel road and can occasionally hear a train pass.If given the opportunity, we will stay here again!
Nov 16, 2024 · Savannah HovisThis was a last minute stop for us. This wasn't planed and we found it when we were 20 minutes out. We called and left a message not really expecting a call back because it was late. We pulled in hoping to find the host and were out of luck - so we thought. We backed off a spot on the gravel road, walked the dog, used the bathroom in our camper, and we're going to be on our way when Sandy pulled up to us. She was so nice and got us situated in a spot in about 5 minutes. We put the $25 in the box and here we are. Blessed that she showed up when she did - we'd still be driving hours later. Aside from the highway noise, and the occasional train off in the distance, this place is great for a quick overnight. It appears that may half the people here are full time or monthly at a minimum. Very quiet (other than the highway). We'll be back.
Aug 29, 2023 · Christian WeissBeautiful place to stay, whether short term or long term. The owner is friendly and fees are reasonably priced. Overall a great stay- we were told no dog fences and no exceptions, not sure how strict they are but we respected the rules and kept our site neat and no fence as asked. Bugs are real here lol bring bug spray. :)
