Based on recent customer reviews, this campground provides a blend of appealing waterfront access, essential amenities, and a convenient location, although some minor drawbacks are noted.
One reviewer found their stay at Holiday Campground on Ochlockonee Bay to be "very enjoyable," despite acknowledging that it isn't "perfect." The cleanliness of the campground was a positive aspect, with the area described as "safe" and the bathrooms reported to be cleaned every morning. For local campers who value hygiene and security, these are important considerations. A significant feature highlighted was the "big" fishing dock, which even includes a fish cleaning station, making it particularly attractive for those who enjoy fishing in Ochlockonee Bay. The reviewer also noted that while the campsites are "small" and the campground is near the highway (though not considered loud), the overall experience was positive enough to warrant a return visit if they were in the area.
The shallow nature of the bay was mentioned as a characteristic, but the reviewer found fishing off the dock near high tide to be enjoyable. A notable environmental factor mentioned was the presence of "time gnat bugs" that can be "terrible in some spots, but not all." This suggests that insect repellent might be necessary at certain times or locations within the campground. Despite these minor inconveniences, the positive aspects led to a favorable overall impression.
Another reviewer enthusiastically stated that they "really enjoyed the campground," highlighting several key features. The availability of "beach access" is a significant draw for those wanting to enjoy the waterfront. The presence of "fire pits" adds to the traditional camping experience, allowing for campfires and outdoor gatherings. The reviewer also praised the "beautiful sunsets and pelicans," indicating a scenic and natural environment with opportunities for wildlife viewing. The convenience of "restaurants are walking distance" is another notable advantage, offering local campers easy access to dining options without needing to drive.
Furthermore, this reviewer specifically mentioned that the campground is a "great pet friendly park." For local pet owners seeking a camping getaway, this is a crucial piece of information, suggesting that furry companions are welcome. This combination of waterfront access, natural beauty, convenient amenities, and a pet-friendly policy makes Holiday Campground on Ochlockonee Bay an attractive option for a variety of local campers.
In terms of environment, the campground's location directly on Ochlockonee Bay provides a coastal setting with associated natural features. The potential for beautiful sunsets and the presence of local wildlife like pelicans enhance the scenic appeal. The proximity to the highway is a factor to consider regarding potential noise, although one reviewer found it not to be loud. The shallow bay might influence water-based activities directly from the shore, but the presence of a fishing dock extends opportunities for deeper-water fishing. The mention of time gnat bugs suggests that local insect populations can be a consideration, particularly at certain times of the year.
The services and features of Holiday Campground on Ochlockonee Bay include clean bathrooms (cleaned daily), a significant fishing dock with a fish cleaning station, beach access, and fire pits at the campsites. The pet-friendly policy is a notable service for those traveling with animals. The convenience of being within walking distance of restaurants adds a level of ease for meal options. In conclusion, Holiday Campground on Ochlockonee Bay appears to be a well-regarded local camping option in Panacea, Florida, offering a blend of natural beauty and convenient amenities. Its waterfront location on Ochlockonee Bay provides opportunities for fishing from a substantial dock and enjoying beach access. The campground is noted for its cleanliness, safety, and pet-friendly policy. Holiday Campground on Ochlockonee Bay Reviews
Ok, it isn't perfect, but it was very enjoyable. It was clean, the area was safe, bathrooms cleaned every morning, the fishing dock was big and even has a fish cleaning station. The sites are small, it is near the highway (but it isn't loud), the bay is shallow (but fishing off the dock when the tide is nearing high tide was fun, the time gnat bugs are terrible in some spots, but not all. Would do it again if I wanted to be in the area.

Apr 05, 2025 · Susie BurgessFor those that are looking for peace and quiet, while having great views from your RV, then this place is for you. The staff were extremely nice, polite, and helpful even with a hurricane that just barely missed them. Bathhouses, laundry, and pool are pristine. Great bike trails all around, plenty of fish in the bay or off the dock, and cocktails with dinner in the evening across the street at Angelo’s or down the road at Trident. All and all a great place and just booked to come back even longer.

Apr 05, 2025 · Scott PayneEscaping from the hurricane and the traffic jams, we arrived at this campground. Good service, quiet, the place is small, with small sites, but with a spectacular view and reasonable prices. Play areas, swimming pool, fishing, among others. The office employees are very helpful and give very good recommendations of the area. The place is very clean.
