Hurricane Creek Recreation Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Cadiz, Kentucky area, Hurricane Creek Recreation, located on Hurricane Camp Rd, Cadiz, KY 42211, USA, presents an appealing option known for its well-maintained facilities, spacious and updated campsites, and convenient amenities. Based on recent customer reviews, this Corps of Engineers (COE) park offers a pleasant and comfortable camping experience, making it a noteworthy destination for both RV and tent campers seeking a reliable and enjoyable outdoor getaway.
One of the standout features of Hurricane Creek Recreation, as highlighted by multiple reviewers, is the quality and size of the campsites. Visitors consistently describe the sites as "nice large level sites," which is a significant advantage for RV owners who require stable and spacious pads for their vehicles. Level sites ensure easier setup and a more comfortable stay, while ample size provides room for awnings, slide-outs, and outdoor gear. This feature alone makes Hurricane Creek Recreation an attractive choice for those prioritizing ease and comfort in their camping setup.
The infrastructure of the campground is also well-regarded, with reviewers noting that "the roads are maintained." Furthermore, a recent improvement mentioned is that "the main road here has just been paved... and it's really nice and 8 in thick. That's going to last a good while." This investment in infrastructure indicates a commitment to providing a smooth and accessible experience for all visitors, making it easier to navigate the campground, especially for larger RVs. Well-maintained and paved roads contribute significantly to the overall quality and appeal of a camping destination.
In terms of campsite amenities, Hurricane Creek Recreation appears to be continuously improving. One reviewer pointed out that "the sites are updated with new wood beams," suggesting ongoing maintenance and upgrades to enhance the camping experience. Additionally, each site is equipped with "a nice new picnic table as well as a separate smaller table which I'm guessing is for cleaning fish." This thoughtful addition of two tables per site provides convenience for dining and potentially for anglers who wish to prepare their catch. The inclusion of new picnic tables further underscores the campground's commitment to providing comfortable and functional campsites.
A particularly noteworthy feature of Hurricane Creek Recreation is the availability of water hookups at each site, a convenience that is not always standard in COE parks. One reviewer explicitly mentioned, "This is one of the first COE parks I've been to that has water 💦 on each site." This is a significant amenity for RV campers, allowing for easy access to fresh water for their onboard systems. The campground also offers a "nice mix of back in and pull through sites," catering to different preferences and the varying lengths and configurations of RVs. The availability of pull-through sites is especially beneficial for larger rigs, as it simplifies parking and departure.
For RVers, Hurricane Creek Recreation provides robust electrical service, with "All of them have 30 and 50 amp service⚡." This ensures that campers with different power requirements can comfortably run their appliances and systems without overloading. The availability of both 30 and 50 amp service makes the campground suitable for a wide range of RV types and sizes.
One potential drawback mentioned by a reviewer is cellular service. They noted the presence of a cell phone tower right next to the property but indicated that it did not support their carrier, T-Mobile, requiring a 15-mile drive to obtain service. This is an important consideration for campers who rely heavily on their mobile phones for communication or internet access. Local users with T-Mobile as their carrier should be aware of this potential limitation. However, this issue might not affect users of other mobile carriers.
Despite this potential connectivity issue for some, Hurricane Creek Recreation is described as a "hidden gem an easy drive from Nashville." This suggests that the campground is a convenient escape for those in the Nashville area seeking a quality camping experience. The reviewer who mentioned this stayed on site 13, which they found to be "pretty level and long enough for our 30' 5th wheel." They also noted that while "some sites need to be reworked," the majority are "quite nice" and expressed anticipation for a return visit. This reinforces the overall positive impression of the campground and its suitability for RV camping.
Based on the provided reviews, Hurricane Creek Recreation offers a well-maintained and amenity-rich camping experience for local users searching for "camping near me" in Cadiz, KY. The large, level, and updated campsites, coupled with water and both 30 and 50 amp electrical hookups, make it particularly appealing for RV campers. The paved roads and new picnic tables further enhance the comfort and convenience of the campground. While cellular service might be limited for some carriers, the overall positive feedback, including its accessibility from Nashville, suggests a worthwhile destination for a peaceful and well-equipped camping getaway.
The reviews do not mention any specific promotional offers or seasonal rates at Hurricane Creek Recreation. Local users interested in learning about pricing and potential discounts should contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (270) 522-8821 or +1 270-522-8821.
In conclusion, Hurricane Creek Recreation in Cadiz, KY, stands out as a well-regarded COE park offering a high-quality camping experience for local users. Its large, level, and updated campsites with water and ample electrical service are particularly beneficial for RV owners. The paved and maintained roads, along with new picnic tables, contribute to a comfortable stay. Sep 25, 2024 · Michael ScottHidden gem an easy drive from Nashville. We stayed on site 13, pretty level and long enough for our 30' 5th wheel. Some sites need to be reworked but most are quite nice. Can't wait to go back.
Aug 07, 2024 · Amy BakerWe visited for the first time the weekend of April 30- May 2, stayed at site 23-a perfect site for tying boat off to bank and it's right at your door! Attendant was friendly and helpful. Site is beautiful although a little confusing at first because of the layout. However the view was breathtaking. Ample space between camp sites for privacy and enjoyability. Walked the campground and let kiddos ride bikes. Has an amazing play ground for the kids and is built perfect for ages 2-8. New bath house was nice, clean and well stocked. Fire wood for sale on site- (6 logs for $3) not to mention those lying around the campground where they'd been clearing trees. (Attendant said take what you want for free!) Really enjoyed the stay and will return!*Four stars instead of five because site said internet coverage but we have zero bars on the entire campground.*We have t-mobile, another camper we met had cricket and she had two bars.*Two miles to nearest Mom & Pop Market store.
May 05, 2021 · Bryant FamilyA great place to camp. Family friendly located on lake Barkley. The camp host Jake & Jayme are super nice and always very helpful with anything that should come up. They are great in keeping an eye on the park with making multiple rounds checking on things and everyone. I hope to see them next year as well. Sites are always clean when arriving. A super quiet campground come sundown. We notice the sheriff of the county also makes rounds once or twice a day circling thru which is added peace of mind. A boat ramp for launching your boat and areas to fish from the bank. A play ground as well. Nice bathhouse with two toilets two sinks two or three showers situated in the center of the campground. More sites than not have lake view. There is a swimming beach and also tent sites as well.
Jul 15, 2022 · Childress PropertiesCurrently on a cross-country road trip and this has been the best good-value campsite I have stayed at, so far. The campsites are nice and large with 4 electrical outlets, plus there are hot showers. I highly recommend the walk-in campsites since the walk isn’t too far and the amenities are great, plus there’s a beach for swimming and a boat ramp. The restrooms also have soap!
