Kamptown RV Resort Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me," particularly those with recreational vehicles, Kamptown RV Resort, located at 4124 Rockcastle Rd, Cadiz, KY 42211, USA, warrants careful consideration based on recent customer reviews. While the name suggests a resort-style experience, feedback indicates a different reality, portraying it more as a mobile home park with a significant number of permanent residents. This distinction is crucial for travelers seeking short-term RV camping accommodations.
One of the primary concerns raised by a reviewer is the discrepancy between the term "Resort" and the actual nature of Kamptown RV Resort. According to this feedback, the campground functions predominantly as a mobile home park with "almost all" sites occupied by permanent residents. This environment might differ significantly from what transient RVers expect from a resort, which typically implies a greater emphasis on short-term stays, tourist amenities, and a more transient community. Local users seeking a traditional RV resort experience for their travels might find the atmosphere at Kamptown RV Resort to be less aligned with their expectations.
The physical environment of Kamptown RV Resort is also described with some critical observations. The roads within the park are noted as "hilly" and made of "gravel." This could pose challenges for maneuvering larger RVs and might affect the overall ease of navigation within the campground. Additionally, the reviewer specifically mentioned that the sites they were directed to, described as "level and large enough" for a 42-foot fifth wheel, were found to be neither. This discrepancy between the provided information and the actual site conditions is a significant concern for RV travelers, as it can lead to difficulties in setting up and ensuring the stability of their vehicles. Uneven sites can require extensive leveling efforts, and insufficient space can make parking and maneuvering cumbersome, especially for larger rigs.
Based on these experiences, the reviewer explicitly stated that they "would NOT recommend" Kamptown RV Resort for traveling RVers. They further suggested an alternative, a nearby KOA campground less than five miles away, which they found to offer "large, level pads and nice roads." This direct comparison highlights the potential shortcomings of Kamptown RV Resort for those who are passing through or seeking a more typical RV park experience with well-maintained infrastructure and level sites.
Interestingly, the reviewer did note one positive aspect: the permanent residents appeared to maintain clean and nicely decorated sites, particularly for Halloween. This suggests a sense of community and pride among the long-term residents, which could contribute to a visually appealing environment within the park. However, this positive observation might be more relevant to permanent residents or those seeking a long-term stay rather than short-term travelers who prioritize site quality and overall park infrastructure.
Another review provides even more critical feedback, referencing a past ownership experience at the location. This former owner described the current owners as "absolutely terrible with no regard to peoples money." While this is a strong and subjective statement, it raises concerns about the management practices and the overall experience of dealing with the owners. The anecdote about naming a new boat "raising rent" further contributes to a negative perception of the ownership's attitude towards residents or customers.
Given these reviews, local users searching for "camping near me" and considering Kamptown RV Resort should be aware of the potential drawbacks highlighted by these experiences. The characterization of the resort as primarily a mobile home park with a majority of permanent residents, coupled with concerns about hilly gravel roads and unlevel sites, especially for larger RVs, suggests that this might not be the ideal choice for short-term RV travelers seeking a resort-style experience. The negative comments regarding the owners also warrant consideration.
While the reviews do not offer any information about specific services and amenities typically found in RV resorts (such as laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, recreational areas, swimming pools, or organized activities), the focus on permanent residents suggests that these might be limited or primarily geared towards the long-term community. Local users seeking these types of amenities for a more vacation-oriented RV experience might need to look elsewhere in the Cadiz, KY area.
Similarly, no information about specific features or promotional offers at Kamptown RV Resort is provided in the reviews. The lack of positive feedback regarding the facilities or services typically associated with a resort suggests that potential visitors should not expect extensive amenities or special deals aimed at short-term travelers.
In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" in Cadiz, KY, Kamptown RV Resort appears to function more as a mobile home park with a large number of permanent residents rather than a traditional RV resort catering to short-term travelers. Reviews highlight concerns about hilly gravel roads, potentially unlevel and undersized sites for larger RVs, and negative experiences with the ownership. While the permanent residents might maintain clean and decorated sites, these aspects might not outweigh the infrastructural and managerial concerns for those seeking a comfortable and well-serviced RV camping experience. Traveling RVers are advised to consider alternative campgrounds in the area, such as the nearby KOA mentioned in one of the reviews, which reportedly offers better site conditions and roads. Local users considering a longer-term stay might still want to investigate Kamptown RV Resort further, but should be aware of the potential issues raised in the available feedback and perhaps seek direct communication with the management to address these concerns before making a decision.

Kamptown RV Resort Reviews
Apparently, the word "Resort" has a different meaning in Kentucky than it does in the rest of the country. This is basically a mobile home park. Almost all are permanent residents. Hilly, gravel roads. Sites that we were told were level and large enough for our 42' fifth wheel were neither. Would NOT recommend. Two stars instead of one because the residents did seem to keep their sites clean and nicely decorated for Halloween. Other than that, if you're traveling, there's a nice KOA less than five miles from here: large, level pads and nice roads. That's where we landed.
Oct 12, 2021 · Timothy FerrellWe used to own a place here. It was very short-lived. The owners are absolutely terrible with no regard to peoples money. They even named their brand new boat “raising rent” if that tells you anything.
May 18, 2023 · Kristopher TrogdenThis is a great campground. You have it all - pool, fish pond, boat dock, bath / laundry facility and more. The boat ramp is less than a mile away. They have a few overnight spots, you might call ahead to reserve. Very well maintained. Be sure to bring a golf cart to cruise around and talk to the neighbors. Very family oriented. You can usually find a corn hole game going or more. All the long term people are very friendly.

Aug 06, 2021 · Crystal HendersonJust guessing I live right across the street from it but have never been, just know they have a lot of ppl over the summer there, I have lived here in Cadiz 21 years an never been to kamptown, so I don't have a bad word to say about it because it is not nice to knock a place down if you have never been there...
