Jellystone Park™ Barton Lake Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" that promises fun-filled activities for the whole family? Jellystone Park™ Barton Lake, located at 140 Ln 201 Barton Lake, Fremont, IN 46737, USA, and reachable at (260) 833-1114 or mobile +1 260-833-1114, has been a destination for families seeking a vibrant campground experience. Situated in the northeastern part of Indiana, this campground aims to offer a variety of recreational opportunities centered around the beloved Yogi Bear™ theme.
The Environment and Location:
Jellystone Park™ Barton Lake benefits from its location near Barton Lake, providing a natural backdrop for camping and outdoor activities. While the immediate environment is geared towards family entertainment with various attractions within the park, the surrounding area of Fremont, Indiana, offers the natural beauty of the region. Campers can potentially enjoy the lake for scenic views, although direct lake access and activities aren't explicitly detailed as primary features in the provided information. The proximity to the interstate, as noted in a review, is a significant environmental factor to consider, potentially impacting noise levels and, in the reviewer's opinion, raising safety concerns due to the close proximity.
Services and Amenities:
Jellystone Park™ campgrounds are typically known for their extensive list of amenities and services designed for family comfort and entertainment. Based on the general reputation of the Jellystone Park™ franchise and the limited information in the reviews, you might expect to find features such as various types of campsites (tent sites, RV sites with hookups, and possibly cabin rentals), restroom and shower facilities, laundry services, and a camp store for essentials and souvenirs. However, a recent review raises concerns about the cleanliness of the showers and bathrooms, suggesting potential inconsistencies in the upkeep of these facilities. It's advisable to seek the most current information regarding the availability and condition of these services before your visit.
A significant draw of Jellystone Park™ Barton Lake appears to be its recreational offerings. The review mentions "fun activities that kids do enjoy" and specifically points out a water park, arcade, jump pillows, and putt-putt. However, the same review also notes several issues: malfunctioning arcade games, a deflated jump pillow, and putt-putt clubs in need of repair. These points indicate that while the park offers a range of activities, the operational status and quality of these features may vary.
The introduction of a new bar and ice cream location are also mentioned as recent updates. However, the reviewer expressed dissatisfaction with the new ice cream brand compared to the previous one. Additionally, the review highlights a significant issue with the water quality, stating a strong sulfur (rotten egg) smell that prevented showering. This is a critical service concern that potential campers should be aware of and seek updated information on.
Features and Highlights:
The primary features of Jellystone Park™ Barton Lake seem to revolve around its family-oriented entertainment and the Yogi Bear™ theme, which typically includes character interactions and themed activities. The presence of a water park is a major highlight, offering aquatic fun for children. Other features like the arcade, jump pillows, and putt-putt provide additional recreational options within the campground. The addition of a bar caters to adult guests looking for on-site relaxation.
However, it's crucial to balance these potential highlights with the concerns raised in the recent review. The reported issues with water quality, arcade functionality, the condition of recreational equipment, and the cleanliness of facilities could significantly impact the overall experience. The proximity to the interstate, while a locational feature, is perceived negatively by the reviewer due to potential noise and safety concerns.
Promotional Information and Pricing Concerns:
The provided reviews do not mention any specific promotional offers. Instead, a major point of contention is the significant increase in pricing reported by a long-time visitor. The reviewer states that the cost for a 7-day stay for one site has nearly tripled since previous years, leading to concerns about the value proposition. They also mention that food and other items within the park have substantial markups. This feedback suggests that potential visitors should be prepared for potentially high costs associated with staying and participating in activities at Jellystone Park™ Barton Lake.
The reviewer explicitly urges the new owners to reconsider the pricing strategy or enhance the value by making more activities free and improving the cleanliness and functionality of the facilities. The lack of visible updates or improvements corresponding to the price increase has led to significant dissatisfaction for this customer.
Important Considerations Based on Reviews:
The recent customer review provides critical insights that local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider:
- Inflated Prices: Be prepared for potentially high camping fees and additional costs for food and activities within the park.
- Water Quality: The reported strong sulfur smell in the water, preventing showering, is a major concern that needs to be addressed and verified with the campground.
- Arcade Issues: Expect potential problems with arcade game functionality and ticket discrepancies.
- Interstate Proximity: Be aware that some campsites are located close to the interstate, which may result in noise and potential safety concerns. Discounts for these less desirable sites may not be offered.
- Maintenance and Cleanliness: There are concerns about the cleanliness of bathrooms and the operational status of some recreational equipment (jump pillow, putt-putt).
- Value for Money: The reviewer questions whether the significant price increase is justified by the current condition and service levels within the park.
Connecting with the "Camping Near Me" Category:
For local users seeking "camping near me" with a focus on family entertainment, Jellystone Park™ Barton Lake aims to provide a destination with numerous activities for children. However, the recent feedback regarding pricing, water quality, and the condition of amenities raises significant concerns that potential local campers should investigate further. While the concept of a themed family campground with a water park and various activities can be appealing, it's crucial to weigh these potential benefits against the reported negative experiences. Local users may want to seek recent updates and potentially visit the park or contact them directly to assess the current conditions and determine if it aligns with their expectations and budget for a "camping near me" experience.
In conclusion, Jellystone Park™ Barton Lake offers a range of family-oriented features and activities. However, recent customer reviews highlight significant issues related to high pricing, poor water quality, malfunctioning amenities, and cleanliness. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider these points and seek current information from the campground directly before making a booking decision to ensure a satisfactory camping experience.

Jellystone Park™ Barton Lake Reviews
We have been camping here since 2018. I have to say this year is most likely our last year. I understand that prices have went up on everything and everywhere. However, the new owners have made the price sky high, and it's insane. We use to pay 750 for 7 days now it's darn near 2000 dollars per site. If this trip is anything like last years not only are the camping prices up but ALL the food prices are up and EVERYTHING costs something inside the park as well. I could go stay at a cabin in Tennessee with our friends and spend less then we do for the 3 sites combined. You seriously need to bring the prices back down or make more stuff free within the park what you have done Is bad business. It would be one thing if things were cleaner (but they arent) All the water park equipment was working or stuff was added on (but it wasnt) The only update I could see was the added bar and the new ice cream location speaking of which the old ice cream brand was WAY better then this new brand the last 2 years. We wouldn't go this year however our site was already booked and our friends already payed in full for their sites. Im really hoping the almost 2000 I pay this year is actually worth it and updates have been done along with staff that actually wants to work and clean the Showers, Bathrooms and from what I've seen and read the cabins.
Mar 20, 2025 · Rebecca WaiteCon: which is major for us1. We could NOT shower because the water smelled SOOO BAD. rotten eggs sulfur smell. We could not bring ourselves to shower with it smelling so bad. The website should absolutely warn campers of this.2. The arcade is a ripoff. We took pictures. Our daughter won 50 tickets on one spin and has 50 tickets from the day before. When she went to check her ticket balance it said 30! She was very upset and confused. The park posts a paper saying that they have no responsibility for the arcade games not working properly.3. We were placed next to an interstate. Honestly, this is dangerous. If there were an accident off the interstate, someone could be injured it’s that close and barriers. Along the perimeter of the site, there was empty airplane bottles and trash. If they are going to have these prices, then people stuck next to the interstate should be given a substantial discount.4. The lights were out in several areas that the kids activities were taking place for in the evening. One of the jump pillows was deflated.5. The putt putt clubs were needing new grips.6. The bathrooms were okay. But looked like they weren’t being cleaned or swept properly.7. The prices were insane. Most everything in the store had a mark up of 50-100% or more.Pros:Fun activities that kids do enjoy.
Sep 28, 2024 · Savannah BodhiThe site we picked was not as I expected it to be. However, the camp ground was more then helpful and offered me a new spot that was to my liking. We had a great time. Kids loved all the attractions there.
Dec 01, 2024 · Jill BehmWe spent a weekend in Oct at the campground in your tri-sites off the canal. As always we had so much fun.The whole family is able to come and the memories we make are so perfect. This year we even went on the haunted trail. We ran screaming thru the whole thing and our hearts were racing when we got out, but we are still talking about it a month later.Thank You for providing such a clean and enjoyable campground for us to come to every year!!
Nov 05, 2024 · Lisa GroverWe just returned home from our second time at Jellystone, Barton Lake. We traveled from Ontario, Canada after coming across this location online. Last year, 2023, was our first experience and our family of 6 all had a blast! This year we went for double the time and it was still just as great. The water park, mini golf, jumping pillow, seeing the bears, bingo nights, dance parties, crafts, paddle boating, and swimming in multiple pools were just the start of all our favourite things to do. The restaurant selling pizza saved us from having to go get groceries for dinner one night and the kids got to play even longer at the water park. We also love that on those rainy days there are still things to do between the indoor swimming pool, arcade, store, restaurant, and doing crafts in the craft shed. We will definitely be regular customers going forward. Highly recommend!
