Jim Moss Arena Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" and seeking a unique and peaceful outdoor experience in the Riverton, Wyoming area? Jim Moss Arena Campground, located at 500 8 Mile Rd, Riverton, WY 82501, USA, offers a distinctive camping opportunity on a working ranch. You can reach them at (307) 851-9854 or +1 307-851-9854 for inquiries about availability and booking.
Based on the available online reviews, Jim Moss Arena Campground provides a welcoming and authentic ranch camping experience that many find to be a hidden gem. One reviewer described it as "a great place which is mostly undiscovered," highlighting its somewhat off-the-beaten-path nature, which could appeal to those seeking tranquility away from more crowded campgrounds. The effort required to find information about the campground was deemed "well worth it" by this visitor.
A significant aspect emphasized in the reviews is the exceptional hospitality of the Moss Family. The reviewer specifically mentioned them being "very friendly and service oriented." This personal touch appears to contribute significantly to the positive experiences of the guests. The reviewer recounted arriving just before a major weather event and appreciated how the Moss Family "made sure we had a good place where the heavy winds and rain would be less of an impact," demonstrating a genuine concern for the comfort and safety of their visitors.
In terms of facilities, the campground offers "full facilities" and "plenty of hot water," which are essential amenities for a comfortable camping stay. It's important to note, as mentioned by the reviewer, that being a "working ranch," guests should expect a more natural environment, potentially including "some mud" and a walk to the bathhouses. This rustic charm seems to be part of the appeal for those seeking an authentic ranch experience rather than a resort-style campground.
Another long-term camper who stayed for ten months in their camper described Jim Moss Arena Campground as a "beautiful and peaceful ranch." This extended stay speaks volumes about the positive atmosphere and environment of the campground. The reviewer also praised Jim and Paulette as "wonderful people" and expressed a desire to return, indicating a strong sense of satisfaction and connection with the owners and the location.
The environment of Jim Moss Arena Campground, being a working ranch, likely offers a unique setting with open spaces, perhaps livestock, and the general ambiance of a rural agricultural operation. This could provide opportunities for observing ranch activities and enjoying a more natural and less manicured landscape compared to typical campgrounds. The peacefulness highlighted by the long-term camper suggests a serene atmosphere conducive to relaxation and enjoying the outdoors.
While the reviews mention "full facilities," specific details about these facilities are not provided. Typically, a campground with full facilities might include amenities such as water hookups, electrical hookups (potentially with various amperage options), and sewage hookups for RVs and campers. Bathhouses with toilets and showers are also commonly included, as mentioned by the first reviewer. Additional amenities could potentially include laundry facilities, picnic tables, fire rings, and perhaps even Wi-Fi access, although these are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews.
Given that the campground is associated with an arena, there might be specific features related to equestrian activities, although this is speculative based on the name. It's possible that the campground caters to individuals participating in events at the arena or those traveling with horses. Inquiries to the owners could clarify if there are any equestrian-related facilities or services available.
Promotional information is not explicitly present in the provided reviews. However, the positive testimonials themselves act as a form of promotion, highlighting the friendly service, peaceful environment, and full facilities. Potential promotional aspects that the campground might offer could include seasonal discounts, group rates, or special packages for longer stays. Information about such promotions would likely be available by contacting the campground directly.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Riverton, WY area, Jim Moss Arena Campground offers a compelling alternative to more conventional campgrounds. The opportunity to stay on a working ranch provides a unique and potentially educational experience. The emphasis on friendly and service-oriented owners, coupled with the peaceful environment and full facilities, makes it an attractive option for various types of campers, from those on short trips to individuals seeking longer-term stays.
The positive experiences shared in the reviews suggest a welcoming and well-managed campground. The willingness of the Moss Family to go the extra mile for their guests, as illustrated by their assistance during the weather event, indicates a high level of customer care. The long-term stay of one camper further reinforces the comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere of the campground.
To get a comprehensive understanding of Jim Moss Arena Campground, local users are encouraged to contact the owners directly at the provided phone numbers. Inquiries should cover details about the specific facilities available, rates for different types of camping (tent, RV, etc.), the availability of hookups, rules and regulations, and any promotional offers. It might also be beneficial to ask about the working ranch aspect and if there are any opportunities for guests to learn about or observe ranch activities.
In conclusion, Jim Moss Arena Campground in Riverton, WY, offers a unique "camping near me" experience on a working ranch. The positive reviews highlight the friendly and service-oriented owners, the peaceful environment, and the availability of full facilities. While it might be somewhat "undiscovered," the positive word-of-mouth suggests it is a worthwhile destination for those seeking an authentic and hospitable camping experience in Wyoming. Direct contact with the Moss Family is recommended to obtain detailed information and make reservations.

Jim Moss Arena Campground Reviews
What a great place which is mostly undiscovered. We had to really dig to find out about this place but it was well worth it. We have to say the Moss Family very friendly and service oriented. We arrived early evening and just ahead of some major weather moving in. They made sure we had a good place where the heavy winds and rain would be less of an impact. Full facilities here and plenty of hot water. It is a working ranch so we expected there be some mud and walking to the bathhouses. All in all a great experience as one does not often these days get to stay on a working ranch that does not act like a resort. Thanks Moss family. We visited September 2023.
Aug 15, 2024 · Den UsaI stayed here for 10 months in my camper. It’s a beautiful and peaceful ranch and Jim and Paulette are wonderful people. I look forward to going back.
Nov 17, 2024 · Claudia CampodonicoGroup of 4 women, we stayed one night in our camper, Paulette was more than accommodating, even set up a fire for us and gave us carrots to feed her 15+ bunnies. We would absolutely recommend staying here!
Oct 14, 2024 · Alissa BogleWe went for 4 days & extended to a week. What a peaceful, enjoyable place to stay with such delightful hosts. They are so anxious to make you comfortable. The sunrises & sunsets are beautiful & there are no close neighbors. The prices are very reasonable. This is where we will stay if we come back to this area.
