Environment and Atmosphere:
Several reviewers highlight the peaceful atmosphere of the campground, particularly at night. This tranquility suggests a setting where you can truly unwind and enjoy the natural surroundings. The park itself features Killens Pond, adding a scenic element to the camping experience. You can expect a generally natural environment typical of a state park, with opportunities to connect with the outdoors.
Services and Amenities:
For families, Killens Pond State Park Campground appears to offer a range of appealing amenities. According to one review, there are "lots of things for kids," including a playground where children can burn off energy. The presence of a large field with a baseball backstop indicates space for various ball games and recreational activities. A sand volleyball court is also available, offering another option for outdoor fun and friendly competition. Furthermore, the campground is described as being good for bike riding, suggesting relatively flat and accessible paths within or around the area.
In terms of essential facilities, campers have noted that the bathrooms were clean, which is always a significant plus for any campground. Hot showers are also available, although one reviewer mentioned that the single shower house has push-button showers that are not very warm. This is something to be aware of if a consistently warm shower is a priority for you.
Beyond the immediate campground amenities, the presence of Killens Pond itself offers additional recreational opportunities. The hike around the pond is described as nice, suggesting scenic trails suitable for leisurely walks and enjoying the natural landscape. For those who enjoy being on the water, paddle boats are available for rent, and it was observed that people also bring their own kayaks, indicating the pond is suitable for paddling activities.
Features and Highlights:
Based on the customer feedback, key features of Killens Pond State Park Campground include its family-friendly environment with dedicated spaces for children's activities, the recreational opportunities associated with Killens Pond (hiking and boating), and the provision of clean bathroom facilities. The peaceful nighttime atmosphere is also a notable positive aspect for those seeking a relaxing camping experience.
One reviewer mentioned that the campground offers discounts on the Passport America list, which could be a significant benefit for members of that program, potentially making the cost more appealing.
Areas for Potential Improvement:
While there are several positive aspects, some areas for potential improvement have also been highlighted in the reviews. One camper felt that the price was still high for what the campground offers, suggesting that value for money might be a consideration for some visitors. The issue with the single shower house having not very warm push-button showers is another point to note.
Perhaps the most significant concern raised was regarding the friendliness of the camp hosts. One reviewer explicitly stated that the camp hosts were not friendly at all, citing a lack of basic courtesy such as waving, saying hello, or smiling. This lack of hospitality can impact the overall camping experience for some individuals.
Finally, a concerning incident was mentioned where someone opened the reviewer's trailer door. While they believe it was likely a mistake due to inebriation, it's a reminder to always take precautions to secure your belongings while camping.

Killens Pond State Park Campground Reviews
Nice campground, lots of things for kids. They have a playground, a large field with a baseball backstop, a sand volleyball court and good bike riding too. The bathrooms were clean and the showers were hot. The hike around the pond was nice and they have paddle boats and I saw people with Kayaks. I enjoyed the campground.
Oct 22, 2024 · Di PearsonThe good: very peaceful at night and they offer discounts on the Passport America list. The bad: the price is still high for what they offer. The single shower house has not very warm push button showers. The ugly: camp hosts were not friendly at all! No waving, even when we waved at them. No Hello, No smiles, just a complete lack of hospitality or warmth. Also, someone opened our trailer door while here, but we think they were just inebriated and it was an error.
Oct 04, 2024 · Chris BloomfieldReally nice campground, very shady and beautiful in the fall. Hardly anyone there in mid October. Sites are spacious and there’s a nice nature trail to walk around the pond. We had water and electric at our site and there is a dump station on your way out. Showers could use some updating, but otherwise we’re clean. Cell signal is 2 bars LTE with Verizon. Would stay again if in the area.
Oct 21, 2022 · LaurenSecond visit here. The first was June 2021 and we just did a long weekend before Thanksgiving. Trails are nice, clean camping area, nice staff.
Nov 26, 2024 · Kristen GoldstrawCamp hosts were great, but the police patrolling the campgrounds are overbearing to the point of harassment. They drive by every hour and visited three sites to confirm reservations and parking tags. For no reason, an officer shined a flashlight and knocked on a tent where a minor was sleeping. Felt harassed all day long . Never had this issue at any other state park campground
