The Retreat at King Cole Farm Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Dover, Delaware area, The Retreat at King Cole Farm, located at 765 Pickering Beach Rd, Dover, DE 19901, USA, presents a new and lovely option for a tranquil getaway. While the name suggests a retreat, the reviews provide insights into its current amenities and environment, making it essential for potential visitors to have a comprehensive understanding. You can reach them at (302) 677-1730 or their mobile number +1 302-677-1730 to inquire about accommodations and any recent updates to their facilities.
As a "new campground," The Retreat at King Cole Farm appears to be in the early stages of development, offering a fresh and potentially less crowded camping experience. The surrounding area is described as "beautiful," suggesting a scenic location that could be a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful natural environment. The campground owner is also noted to be "very friendly," indicating a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere for guests.
Currently, the reviews highlight some areas where the campground may still be developing its amenities. One reviewer mentioned the absence of a "public bathhouse," which is a crucial consideration for tent campers and those renting accommodations without private bathrooms. The lack of "picnic tables, grills, or fire pits at the sites" was also noted as a potential inconvenience for those who enjoy outdoor cooking and campfires at their individual campsites. While there is a "community table and grill," its shared nature might not be ideal for all guests, especially if they prefer to cook independently or if it is already in use.
Another observation was the lack of a "playground for kids," which might be a factor for families with young children when choosing a campground. However, this was not an issue for the reviewer who mentioned it. Despite these initial limitations, the reviewer who stayed overnight still found it to be a "lovely place" and enjoyed their stay, suggesting that the inherent beauty of the area and the friendliness of the owner contributed to a positive experience.
The second review offers a glowing assessment, describing The Retreat at King Cole Farm as "immaculate and beautiful!" This guest stayed in a cottage while in town for a family event and found it to meet all their needs for a "tranquil environment." The fact that they "definitely will always look to see if there is available here when coming back home" speaks volumes about their positive experience and their intention to be a returning guest. This strong endorsement highlights the potential of The Retreat at King Cole Farm as a preferred lodging option in the Dover area.
The guest who stayed in the cottage also provided some specific suggestions for improvement, indicating a willingness to help the campground enhance its offerings. These suggestions included providing a broom and dustpan in the cottage, adding a lock latch for the inside of the screen door (to prevent it from slamming open in the wind), and adding extra trash bags to the trash cans. These are practical suggestions that could further improve the comfort and convenience for guests staying in the cottages.
Despite these minor suggestions, the overall experience of the cottage stay was rated a perfect "10/10," underscoring the positive impression the retreat made on this guest. This suggests that while the campground might be new and still developing some of its broader amenities, the accommodations themselves (at least the cottages) are of high quality and provide a very satisfactory experience.
Based on the limited information, the environment of The Retreat at King Cole Farm is characterized by its natural beauty and tranquility. Its location on Pickering Beach Rd in Dover, DE, might suggest proximity to the coast or other natural attractions in the area, although this is not explicitly stated. The emphasis on a "tranquil environment" implies a peaceful setting where guests can relax and enjoy the outdoors. The fact that it is a new campground might mean that the landscaping is still developing, but the inherent beauty of the area seems to be a consistent positive aspect.
The services and features currently appear to be somewhat basic, especially for traditional campers. The lack of a public bathhouse, individual picnic tables, grills, and fire pits at each site could be a limitation for some. However, the presence of a "community table and grill" offers a shared space for outdoor cooking. For those staying in cottages, the experience seems to be more self-contained and positive, although specific amenities within the cottages are not detailed beyond the need for a broom and dustpan and a screen door latch.
Promotional information is limited to the positive reviews, particularly the strong endorsement from the guest who stayed in a cottage and intends to return. The fact that the area is described as beautiful and the owner as friendly also serves as positive indicators. For local users looking for a new and potentially quieter camping or cottage rental option near Dover, The Retreat at King Cole Farm could be appealing, especially if they prioritize tranquility and are willing to be somewhat self-sufficient or are interested in cottage accommodations.
To get a more comprehensive understanding of the current amenities, types of accommodations offered (beyond cottages), and any future development plans, local users should contact The Retreat at King Cole Farm directly. Inquiring about the availability of bathhouses, picnic tables, grills, fire pits, and other common campground amenities would be advisable for those planning a stay. Additionally, asking for specific details about the features and provisions within the cottages would be helpful for potential cottage renters. Despite some initial limitations mentioned in one review, the positive experiences, especially in the cottages, suggest a promising retreat in a beautiful setting. Contacting them at (302) 677-1730 or +1 302-677-1730 will allow you to gather the most up-to-date information and decide if The Retreat at King Cole Farm meets your needs for a local camping or cottage getaway.

The Retreat at King Cole Farm Reviews
This new campground was a lovely place for an overnight stay. The area is beautiful and the campground owner was very friendly. Our only complaints, and maybe they aren’t finished, were- no public bathhouse, no picnic tables, grills, or fire pits at the sites. There is a “community”table and grill but that’s not convenient when you do most of your cooking outside or if someone else is using it. No playground for kids but that isn’t an issue for us. We enjoyed our night but wouldn’t stay for more than that without a few changes.
Apr 21, 2025 · v mcmahanImmaculate and beautiful! Met all of our needs for a tranquil environment. We booked a cottage, while in town for a family member’s celebration of life ceremony, as well as my dad’s birthday. Definitely will always look to see if there is available here when coming back home. I would like to suggest a broom and dust pan. A lock latch for the inside of the screen door. Night 2/3 it was very windy and the screen door would slam open and shut. Adding extra trash bags to the trash cans. Overall 10/10 stay.
Apr 27, 2025 · Keylla SnowdenStaff was very friendly and accomodating. They introduced themselves as soon as we arrived and told us about the property. Very communicative and accessible throughout our stay, and all hookups for our rv were easily accessible. For our needs, it was a great location. Views were also beautiful!
