Krause Springs Introduce
Are you searching for a unique "camping near me" experience that combines natural swimming holes with breathtaking gardens? Krause Springs, located at 424 Co Rd 404 in Spicewood, Texas, offers just that. Situated in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, this privately owned natural site has garnered attention for its stunning springs, a natural pond, and lush gardens, providing a picturesque setting for a local getaway. While recent conditions, as indicated by customer reviews, suggest some impact from drought, the inherent beauty and unique features of Krause Springs still make it a compelling destination for those seeking a refreshing and visually appealing outdoor experience.
Spicewood, Texas, is known for its scenic landscapes, characterized by rolling hills, natural springs, and proximity to the Colorado River and Lake Travis. Krause Springs is nestled within this beautiful region, offering a natural oasis that has been appreciated for generations. The environment at Krause Springs is centered around its natural water features: a spring-fed pool located at the top of the property and a natural pond situated at the bottom. Historically, these have been key attractions, offering cool, clear waters for swimming and relaxation. The presence of a "beautiful garden," as noted by a reviewer, adds another dimension to the environment, suggesting meticulously maintained flora that enhances the visual appeal and provides a tranquil space for visitors to enjoy.
One of the primary features of Krause Springs is its natural spring pool. Fed by underground springs, this pool typically offers refreshing waters for swimming. The fact that it's located "at the top" of the property might imply a cascading flow or a distinct source that maintains its water level and temperature. The second water feature is a pond located at the bottom of the property. Natural ponds in such settings often support local wildlife and provide a different swimming or wading experience compared to a spring-fed pool. However, a recent review notes that the area is "pretty dry around," and "the water doesn't flow," attributing this to a potential drought. This is a crucial piece of information for local users planning a visit, as it suggests that the typical water flow and levels in the springs and pond might be affected by current dry conditions. It would be advisable to check with Krause Springs directly for the most up-to-date information on water levels and conditions.
Despite the potential impact of drought on the water flow, the "beautiful garden" remains a significant feature. Gardens in natural settings like Krause Springs are often carefully cultivated to showcase local flora and create visually stunning landscapes. This aspect alone can be a major draw for visitors who appreciate natural beauty and tranquil environments. The garden might offer shaded areas, walking paths, and a variety of plant life that attracts birds and other wildlife, enhancing the overall experience of being in nature.
The reviews also provide some context regarding the popularity of natural swimming holes in the region. One visitor mentioned that Krause Springs was a "plan B" after Hamilton Pool Preserve was fully booked, yet they expressed "no regret" in their visit. This suggests that Krause Springs offers a comparable experience in terms of natural beauty and the opportunity for a refreshing swim, making it a valuable alternative for those seeking "camping near me" with swimming options, especially when other popular spots are crowded.
While the reviews focus on the natural environment and swimming opportunities, specific details about camping services and amenities at Krause Springs are not provided. As the name includes "Springs," the primary focus might be on day visits for swimming and enjoying the gardens. However, many natural attractions in Texas that offer swimming also provide camping facilities to allow visitors to extend their stay and fully immerse themselves in the natural surroundings. To determine if camping is available at Krause Springs, what types of campsites are offered (e.g., tent sites, RV sites with hookups), and what amenities are provided (e.g., restrooms, showers, picnic areas, fire pits), direct contact with the management would be necessary.
Given the limited information, it is also impossible to detail any specific features beyond the springs, pond, and gardens. Depending on whether camping is offered, additional features might include hiking trails, access to nearby natural attractions, or designated areas for recreational activities. The unique geological formations that often accompany natural springs in the Hill Country could also be a feature of the environment at Krause Springs.
Similarly, no promotional information is available in the provided reviews. To learn about any entrance fees, camping rates (if applicable), seasonal passes, or special offers for local residents, it is essential to contact Krause Springs directly via phone at (401) 236-7554 or +1 401-236-7554. Their website or other online platforms might also provide information on pricing and any current promotions.
For local users searching for "camping near me" that offers a unique experience centered around natural swimming holes and beautiful gardens, Krause Springs in Spicewood, Texas, is a destination worth considering. The positive reviews highlight its natural beauty and its appeal as an alternative to other popular swimming spots in the region. However, it is important to be aware of the potential impact of drought on the water flow and levels in the springs and pond. To get comprehensive information about camping availability, amenities, current conditions, and any applicable fees or promotions, direct communication with Krause Springs is strongly recommended.
In conclusion, Krause Springs presents a potentially enchanting local getaway, characterized by its natural spring pool, pond, and beautiful gardens in the scenic Spicewood area. While recent dry conditions might affect the water features, the inherent beauty of the site and the positive experiences of past visitors suggest a worthwhile destination for nature lovers and those seeking a refreshing swim. Local users should contact Krause Springs directly for the most current information to plan their visit effectively.

Krause Springs Reviews
Very nice spring pool at the top and a pond at the bottom but it's pretty dry around the area. The water doesn't flow. I think it's because of our drought. Beautiful garden
Apr 30, 2025 · Drea BabyLoved the garden and the springs. It was a plan B for us as Hamilton pools were completely booked but no regret.
Apr 25, 2025 · charles nouwenWe didn't realize there was a entry fee but totally worth it! My son took a photo of the waterfall but caught a nice moment between two people. Don't know if they're local or not but hoping this finds them. Taken 4/13/25. We came here to check it out. Weren't prepared to swim but hoping we can make it up again soon!
Apr 15, 2025 · Mersi Ana$20 for two people is a good deal. First time being here, and I gotta say the place is awesome. There’s grills and sections where you can sit and bar-b-q if you wanted to. It has a normal pool and a more natural pool which was my favorite. Tiny fishes in it but not scary at all. Friendly staff. 10/10 definitely coming back and this time with the rest of my family so they enjoy the pretty scenery.💕
Apr 21, 2025 · Unicorn AwesomeRV camped there four nights last week. It was amazing. Did not think it would be as nice as the site pictures, but it was. Clean grounds, beautiful flowers and trees. The springs and falls are so wonderful. Pool was clean and lower natural pool was easy to get to and also well maintained. Very reasonable camping fees. Great place with fun, close things to do around Spicewood.
