For those in the Concrete, Washington area or planning a visit and searching for "camping near me," Kulshan Campground, located near Concrete, WA 98237, USA, offers an exceptional camping experience nestled on the shores of the picturesque Baker Lake. Based on enthusiastic customer reviews, this campground is renowned for its stunning views of the majestic Mount Baker and its direct access to Baker Lake and the nearby dam. It's a destination that appeals to nature lovers, fishing enthusiasts, and those seeking a memorable camping getaway in a breathtaking setting.
The environment surrounding Kulshan Campground is truly "epic," as described by one visitor. The campground's prime location directly on the shores of Baker Lake provides immediate access to the lake for various recreational activities and offers stunning waterfront views. The most prominent feature of the landscape is the dominating and majestic presence of Mount Baker, a towering volcanic peak that provides a dramatic and awe-inspiring backdrop for the campground. The views of the mountain peaks are described as "absolutely awesome," suggesting a visually spectacular environment that enhances the overall camping experience. The proximity to Baker Lake also means that campers can easily enjoy the lake's serene waters and the surrounding natural beauty. Additionally, the campground's location near the dam adds another point of interest for visitors to explore. The combination of the pristine lake environment and the impressive mountain scenery creates a truly remarkable setting for "camping near me."
In terms of services and features, Kulshan Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, as explicitly stated in one of the reviews. This is an important point for potential campers to note, as no reservations are accepted. During peak seasons or events, such as the sockeye fishing season, the campground can become quite crowded, with one reviewer mentioning that the place was "jammed with fishermen." This popularity is a testament to the campground's appealing location and the recreational opportunities it offers. While many campsites are described as "quite nice," it's also noted that some sites are small and not laid out particularly well. This suggests that the quality and size of individual campsites can vary, and arriving early might be advantageous to secure a more desirable spot. The campground charges a fee of $30 per night, and it's important to note that payment is accepted in cash or check only, as "no credit cards accepted." This is a crucial piece of information for planning and payment purposes.
One practical consideration mentioned in the reviews is the issue of dust. One visitor noted that "as there has been no rain the campground was very dusty." This is a common occurrence in outdoor environments, especially during dry periods, and campers should be prepared for potentially dusty conditions. The primary recreational activity highlighted in the reviews, besides enjoying the lake and the views, is sockeye fishing. When the sockeye fishing season is open on Baker Lake, the campground becomes a popular base for anglers hoping to try their luck. One reviewer shared their personal fishing experience, indicating that the lake offers opportunities for catching sockeye salmon. The proximity to the lake and the opening of fishing seasons are significant features that attract a specific segment of the "camping near me" community.

- Check the fishing regulations: If you plan to fish for sockeye in Baker Lake, ensure you are aware of and comply with all current fishing regulations and licensing requirements.
- Be prepared for crowds during fishing season: If your visit coincides with the sockeye fishing season, expect the campground to be busy with other anglers.

In conclusion, Kulshan Campground offers an "epic" "camping near me" experience for those seeking stunning natural beauty and recreational opportunities on Baker Lake near Concrete, WA. The breathtaking views of Mount Baker and the access to lake activities, particularly sockeye fishing, are major draws. Kulshan Campground Reviews
What an epic place to camp. Clean, friendly campers and an absolutely awesome view of the mountain peaks. Baker lake is right there as well as the dam. Super amazing
Jun 04, 2023 · JR ThomasThis campground is located on the shores of. Baker Lake. Mount Baker dominates the views and is majestic. Campsites are first come first served. No reservations are accepted. As there has been no rain the campground was very dusty. Sockeye fishing was open on the lake so the place was jammed with fishermen. I was there to try my luck along with the herd. Had a nice sockeye up to the boat but he broke the line and escaped. There are many sites that are quite nice, however some are small and not laid out well. Fees are $30 per night, cash or check, no credit cards accepted.
Jul 20, 2023 · Ray HarrisonThis campground is great. It does cost and the sites dont have power or water but the surrounds, shady spots, boat dock, walking trails and flushing bathroom facilities make it worth it. We also took our dogs and had no problems with finding a spot to stake their leashes or keep them from getting in others way. You can also drive over Baker Dam and go to a super hike with parking and bathroom facilities and drive over and through the nearby mountain. Four wheel drive not necessary but a bit of clearance helps.
Jul 27, 2018 · Kimberly WorthenGood price. Good boat launch. Great hosts! Only drawback is there are no campsites next to the lake but it is a short walk to the lake.
Jul 12, 2022 · Nicola NoeticGreat place to camp. Had amazing time in the last week of May. Will be going there to camp with bunch of friends from work again this coming weekend. Lots of beautiful pictures taken near the damm.
