Horseshoe Cove Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a delightful "camping near me" experience nestled alongside the picturesque Baker Lake, Horseshoe Cove Campground offers a fantastic retreat. Located near Concrete, Washington, this campground is praised for its proximity to the lake, spacious campsites, and access to a beautiful connecting trail. If you're looking for a camping destination where you can easily enjoy lakeside activities and explore scenic trails, Horseshoe Cove Campground could be your ideal getaway.
The environment surrounding Horseshoe Cove Campground is a key highlight, with the campground situated right next to the stunning Baker Lake. A significant advantage, as noted by visitors, is that all campsites are within an easy walking distance from the beach. This allows for convenient access to swimming, sunbathing, and simply enjoying the beauty of the lake. The lake itself is described as beautiful with incredible water color, making it an attractive spot for relaxation and enjoying the natural scenery. However, one reviewer mentioned that the water in the area reserved for the beach might not be as clear as the rest of the lake due to a sandy and muddy bottom.
In terms of campsite features, many reviewers have been impressed by the size of the individual sites. One solo camper mentioned being surprised by the amount of room available, suggesting that even larger groups might find ample space within their designated area. Each campsite is equipped with tables and barbecues, providing convenience for outdoor cooking and dining. However, it's crucial to note that due to a high risk of fire, the use of wood or charcoal barbecues is not permitted. Campers should plan to bring alternative cooking methods that comply with fire safety regulations.
Regarding facilities, Horseshoe Cove Campground offers a mix of options. While there is one bathroom with flush toilets and running water sinks, it is located further away from most of the campsites. To compensate for this, the campground also has several pit toilets spread throughout the camping areas, which are considered adequate by visitors. It's important to be aware that showers are not available at this campground. For drinking and non-drinking water needs, there are several spots with taps located throughout the campsite, providing essential access to water sources.
A notable feature of Horseshoe Cove Campground is the connecting trail that leads off from the campground to a beautiful loop trail. This trail is described as relatively flat for the majority of its length and takes you along the water, offering scenic views and an opportunity for a pleasant walk or hike. One visitor mentioned exploring beyond the initial part of the loop and being happily surprised by what they found, suggesting that the trail offers more to discover for those willing to venture further.
It's important for potential visitors to be aware of the lack of cell phone and internet service at Horseshoe Cove Campground. This is a significant factor to consider when planning your trip, as it means you will be without digital communication during your stay. One reviewer wished they had known this in advance to bring more reading material, highlighting the opportunity for a true digital detox and immersion in nature. If staying connected is a necessity, this campground might not be the best choice. However, for those looking to disconnect and enjoy uninterrupted time outdoors, the lack of service can be a benefit.
The information available indicates that camping at Horseshoe Cove Campground requires prior reservation made through a website. This suggests a structured system for managing campsite occupancy and ensures that you have a designated spot upon arrival. It is advisable to visit the relevant booking platform well in advance of your desired camping dates, especially during peak seasons, to secure a reservation. The website will likely provide details on pricing, availability, and any specific rules or regulations for the campground.
In summary, Horseshoe Cove Campground offers a rustic and enjoyable lakeside camping experience near Concrete, WA. Its key features include spacious campsites close to Baker Lake, a connecting scenic loop trail, and essential amenities like pit toilets, water taps, and picnic tables with barbecues (though charcoal and wood fires are prohibited). The lack of cell service promotes a peaceful and disconnected environment. Potential campers should be prepared for the limited availability of flush toilets and the absence of showers, and remember that prior reservations are required. For local users seeking a "camping near me" destination that combines lake access with hiking opportunities in a natural setting, Horseshoe Cove Campground is definitely worth considering.
While no specific promotional information was provided, the campground's inherent attractions – its location on Baker Lake, the spacious campsites, and the access to a scenic trail – are strong selling points. For those planning a visit, remember to make your reservation in advance through the designated website and come prepared for a rustic camping experience without digital connectivity. Embrace the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of Baker Lake and the surrounding area at Horseshoe Cove Campground.

Horseshoe Cove Campground Reviews
Great campground next to Baker Lake! All the sites are an easy walk away from the beach. Most of the sites are also huge! I was solo camping and shocked at how much room I had. There is no cell service which I wish I would have known ahead of time so I could bring more than one book. The flush toilets/running water sinks are a bit far from most of the camp sites, however there are pit toilets spread out around the campsites as well that do the job just fine. There’s also a connecting trail that leads off from the campground to a beautiful loop trail. It’s relatively flat for most of it and takes you along the water. I got bored and decided to see where it went and was happy I did!
Jul 30, 2024 · Emma SwansonVery rustic campsite, most of the campsites are surrounded by woods, and are very secluded. There is only one bathroom with running water, but there are several bathrooms spread throughout the campsite that serve guests. There are no showers. There are several spots with taps for drinking water and non-drinking water. All the areas have tables and barbecues. However, due to the high risk of fire, it is not possible to use the wood or charcoal barbecues. The water in the area reserved for the beach is not as clean as the rest of the lake, because the bottom is not made of stone, but of sand and mud. The lake is beautiful and the color of the water is incredible. However, we were unable to catch any fish.No phone or internet service.Camping requires prior reservation made through the website.
Aug 12, 2024 · camila TrojanNO REGRETS - one of the best places you can camp in peace and comfortable. Flush toilets are down due to winter damage but vault toilets are tidy and easily reached. Sites vary but you’ll almost always have a good buffer of privacy but even those that are ‘hugging’ areas are maintained and I can’t tell you how quiet it is! Lovely and great place to fish! Lot of success stories from those we say pulling to shore, it’s great to explore we found a lake swing and fun little pockets of views. CAUTION this is cougar and bear country as mentioned from our host some evidence of cougar presence was found on trails. Exercise no trace left behind etiquette!!!! Keep protection nearby, deer were hugging the area daily saw probably a dozen in the 4 day stay - enjoy nature here! Husband and I had a blast hiking and relaxing ***Firewood sold on site for $10 a bundle.
May 22, 2024 · Mercylyn MonghitThis campground is awful. I'm angry that I spent 35 a night for a tiny spot of dirt. The flush toilets had no soap and men's side had neither soap nor running water. The flush toilets went out the first night I was there. Then the potable water went out the next night. We had to use the vault toilet that was a distance away which had not been cleaned in quite some time (it was filled with mouse poop). Couldn't wash hands without water. The camp host was non-existent. I was there for 4 days and there was a sign saying they were off duty every time I passed by. Other than the lake being awesome to swim in and close by, it sucked. The lake may not be enough to bring me back again. Not worth your money.
Aug 08, 2024 · Kyla McKiernanTremendous campground. We stayed in early September and the water was cold but not so cold you couldn’t swim. Great spot for kayaking. Amazing views of the mountains, lots of wildlife, chipmunks and blue jays galore! Sites are large and mostly level with decent privacy. We stayed in site 19 and had amazing access to the lake though privacy suffered a bit because of the trails to the lake next to the site. Definitely could hear sounds of children and parents from the beach and campground all weekend, but largely had an amazing time.
