Quick Accommodations, Tours & More Reviews
I personally found this wonderful escape from society on Airbnb! I have been so very pleased from the warm welcoming of the host Liz to the beautiful scenery that's around us on a daily basis. Staying here you can also choose to go on one of her tour rides and see the absolutely breathtaking scenery that is hidden inside these beautiful West Virginia hills!! The costs of the tours varies by the hourly package you choose all of which are very affordable and worth every penny spent! I promise you won't find a better place to lay your head down and rest easy at night or during the day while outting on a ride! This is an absolute must go to. For a lengthy stay or a quick stay and the rentals are to diefor from small little tiny efficiency cabins to her brand new campers to rent out or a 4 bedroom home down on the main road beside of the Quickmart! Each and every rental is very well priced for any budget and the host is amazing! Prices on her rentals range anywhere from 35.00 a night and up and the tours are all very well priced as well and since I've been here I've gotten to try Sassafras Tea which we started from getting it out of the ground to boiling over a hot camp fire to the cup and was absolutely amazing! A must try if you haven't had it!

Apr 19, 2021 · Mike MooreTL;DR: The wifi they say they offer on their campground doesn’t work well and they refused to refund money for the 6 nights we booked. Also, they have some guys who live at the campsite that we felt gave off a weird, creepy vibe.My wife and I booked a camper on the property through AirBnB for 6 nights during Thanksgiving week. We chose this location specifically because it said it had wifi I work remotely and planned to do some work before Thanksgiving day while staying at the camp.Unfortunately the wifi didn’t work. They have a router with a weak signal in a “cabin” already occupied by an employee that they believe is good enough. In our experience, it is not. Whether you’re trying to work remotely or you even want to stream music, the internet drops constantly, the quality was terrible or nonexistent, or at times it simply just did not work at all. If you’re looking for a disconnected camping experience, that’s fine. But if you’re planning on doing some work while being out among nature, you’re out of luck. And hey, that’s okay, that happens. But what’s not okay is that when we requested a refund through AirBnB, the host denied our request and would not do the simple, honorable thing of returning our money after they were unable to provide a listed amenity.Next, we also left the camp because of what we’d call a creepy “staff” that made my wife feel uncomfortable. So, when we showed up, the host wasn’t available and instead had us meet with her “park man.” The park man appeared intoxicated to us. At 3:30pm in the afternoon stumbling around wearing pajamas, he did not give off the impression of outdoorsy let alone professionalism. He also didn’t really seem to know much about the camp or the accommodations. He didn’t have the key for our camper. But he did live on site. He told us the router to the wifi was in his cabin (which is clearly too far from the camper to get a good signal). There was another man living in a camper a few feet from our camper. And even the park man said he was kind of odd and mentioned, “yeah, he works here I guess.” I’m not sure what that means, but this man mostly just walked around the camp mumbling to himself. And there was another guy who was already drunk and stumbling about the camp at 3:30pm who said he lived there as well. So, three men living on the campgrounds, all at various levels of intoxicated and mental wellbeing. Tell me, would your wife feel comfortable staying there or leaving our possessions behind if we went into town or on a hike? And finally, the state of things. It’s a campground, so obviously don’t expect much. But in our opinion, what’s there is falling apart. We got the camper, and the dining table wobbled back and forth (impossible to eat off of) and one of the benches had the back popping off of it. The communal showers/bathroom are laughable and I’ve seen bigger garden sheds. You also can’t flush any toilet paper anywhere on the premises, so you have to throw it all away in the garbage. But, to be clear, most of this I could ignore. The creepy vibes from the three permanent residents and the dining area of the camper falling apart are whatever. We’re camping in WV, I wasn’t expecting the best. But I needed WiFi to do my job, and the WiFi didn’t work. Which is understandable. It’s frustrating and annoying, but understandable. What’s not understandable is that they wouldn’t refund our money we paid for 6 nights. Which is only like $350. In the grand scheme of losses, it’s relatively low. But still, it’d be so easy for them to do. They screwed up. They said they could provide an amenity and they could not. They made a mistake, and that happens, it’s life. But why not just own up to it and refund our money? That’s disingenuous and I don’t like that. We met the host, she seemed very nice, and that made it all the worse that she kept our money while we were forced to scramble to find another place to stay and work during Thanksgiving week.
