Based on feedback from fellow campers, Hawk's Nest State Park Tentrr Double Site A offers a distinctive and memorable outdoor stay. One reviewer cautioned about the access, noting, "It's a rocky, one-lane drive to get here. But wow is it great. Be careful not to think that you're going to the main overlook when driving here. This area if the state park (aka the Rail Trail) is at water level and does not connect to the main area of the park with the lodge and overlooks." This is an important piece of information for local users planning their visit, highlighting that this particular camping area, associated with the Rail Trail, is separate from the main overlook area of Hawk's Nest State Park.
Despite the unique access, the reviewer enthusiastically concludes, "Nonetheless it's a great, private, and serene area if the park to see. Definitely recommend." This suggests that the slightly more challenging drive is well worth it for the peace and beauty that awaits. The emphasis on "private" and "serene" indicates a tranquil camping environment, ideal for those looking to escape the crowds and immerse themselves in nature.
Another camper raved about the experience, stating, "Incredibly gorgeous and secluded. From 9pm until 9am, you are the only inhabitants in this area. These tents had toilets and Tempurpedic mattresses! Located next to running river, these were WELL worth the nightly price." This review provides more detail about the specific features and environment of the Tentrr double site.
The description of the location as "incredibly gorgeous and secluded" reinforces the idea of a peaceful and visually stunning setting. The unique aspect of being "the only inhabitants in this area" during certain hours (9 PM to 9 AM) suggests a truly isolated and intimate connection with nature, a rare find in many "camping near me" options.
Perhaps one of the most appealing features highlighted is the inclusion of "toilets and Tempurpedic mattresses" within the tents. This offers a significant upgrade from traditional tent camping, providing a level of comfort and convenience that bridges the gap between primitive camping and cabin stays. A comfortable mattress can make a huge difference in the quality of your outdoor experience, and the presence of a toilet adds a practical amenity often missing in more basic campsites.
The location "next to running river" adds to the allure, promising the soothing sounds of flowing water and potentially opportunities for water-related activities (though this isn't explicitly stated). Riverfront camping is often highly sought after for its scenic beauty and the calming ambiance it provides.
The final sentiment, "these were WELL worth the nightly price," indicates that the overall value proposition of the Hawk's Nest State Park Tentrr Double Site A is high, considering the secluded location, the beautiful surroundings, and the unexpected comforts provided.
To summarize the environment, Hawk's Nest State Park Tentrr Double Site A is located in a gorgeous and secluded area of Hawk's Nest State Park, specifically within the Rail Trail section at water level, separate from the main overlook area. The drive in is described as a rocky, one-lane road. The setting is serene, private, and situated next to a running river.
In terms of services and features, this Tentrr double site appears to offer a unique blend of rustic camping with added comforts. The inclusion of toilets and Tempurpedic mattresses within the tents sets it apart from more traditional campsites. While the reviews don't mention other specific amenities like picnic tables or fire rings, the focus is clearly on the secluded natural setting and the comfort of the sleeping arrangements and the convenience of a toilet.
The primary feature is undoubtedly the secluded and scenic location by the river, coupled with the enhanced comfort provided by the Tempurpedic mattresses and the convenience of having a toilet at the site. The privacy, especially during nighttime hours, adds to the unique appeal.
Based on the information available, there isn't any specific promotional information mentioned. However, the positive reviews, particularly the comment about the experience being "well worth the nightly price," serve as a strong implicit recommendation for local users seeking a distinctive "camping near me" option that balances natural beauty with a degree of comfort and privacy.
For local users looking for a camping experience that goes beyond the traditional tent on the ground, Hawk's Nest State Park Tentrr Double Site A offers a compelling alternative. The combination of a stunning and secluded riverside location with the unexpected comforts of Tempurpedic mattresses and a private toilet makes it a noteworthy option. Just be mindful of the separate location from the main park overlook and the nature of the access road. If a serene and private escape in a beautiful natural setting with added comfort is what you're after, this Tentrr site could be your ideal "camping near me" destination.

Jun 28, 2021 · Steve SmithWe had a great stay! The spot was exactly as described. The attentive groundskeepers made sure we were comfortable. I loved that we had the whole area to ourselves and the proximity to the water. I can't wait to go back again!
Oct 18, 2021 · Jessica WhiteI’d love to give this place five stars because it is absolutely beautiful and picturesque. The tent with the front porch and the Adirondack chairs really cool, bed was comfortable, it was convenient to have your own toilet, picnic table cabinet and fire pit. Absolutely love all of that! However, yes there’s trains that run all night, every hour on the hour extra long boxes on this coal moving fright train. I felt like I was in Brooklyn or Newark so far as the amount of train noise pollution. It’s a shame and in speaking to the other campers we can’t help but feel ripped off because this was not disclosed and that is not cool. Shame on you tenttrr.
Sep 18, 2021 · Gabrielle A. TumminelloStayed in another tentrr site a short distance from here not this one in particular. Tentrr customer service is trash. The host was nice enough but he is just a contractor with limited means. The sites are crammed on top of each other. If there's other campers don't expect peace and quiet. Whining toddlers, barking dogs.... Yikes. Thin mattresses with slat platforms left us sore, the train kept us sleepless. Better off dispersed camping and bringing your own tent.
