Rays Camp Ground Reviews
WOW!🤩 What an awesome little campsite in Hico, West Virginia! As a solo camper, this is exactly the type of campground I feel most comfortable at. I stayed on a Thursday and Friday night. Most campers came in on Friday night so Thursday was pretty empty while I was there. For $11 a person to stay the night, the price is perfect for just me. This is the only campground I've found so far that charges per person instead of a flat rate. The campsites are relatively close, some are larger than others. It just depends on what you're looking for. For me, I'm away from my site for most of the day and just come back in the evening to make a fire and sleep. The bathhouse was great. Showers were hot and clean with privacy and a chair to put your belongings on. Several sinks and toilets to use during the rush in the morning. There is a huge sink outside of the bathhouse to wash dishes as well. There is also a communal kitchen area that is open at all times. There are amenities inside that can be used at your leisure. Very cool and unique idea!Ray's Campground is truly a gem and I will certainly be back whenever I visit New River Gorge again.
Dec 27, 2024 · Leigh AnnThis place is great, and very well priced. There are tons of spots to choose from if you just want to show up and get a spot and a few spots and cabins that you can reserve in advance. They have showers and nice restrooms, and even free breakfast which is just a cherry on top of the already low cost to camp. It's only a few minutes from Bridge Day and downtown, too.
Oct 21, 2024 · Raymond MoulGreat campground that was very reasonably priced. Nice communal kitchen and lounge areas, and clean bathrooms with hot showers. Super close to New River Gorge. When I had trouble with the self check-in, Kat was very friendly and helpful.
Oct 10, 2024 · Rain EguigurenI cannot say enough great things about this campground! I originally found it on hipcamp during Bridgeday 2024. They were showing no availability for that day. We took a gamble and drove over there anyway and met their amazing host and owner. They welcomed us and provided so much information about their facilities. We got a cool spot by a pond. We had a nice fire and met some great people. When we got ready to leave we met another one of the hosts and he was so kind. We all chatted for a bit and the sent us off with a cup of coffee and some fresh empanadas! The rates were amazing. I can’t wait to go back and spend a couple more days!!
Oct 21, 2024 · Jamie HarnessI stayed at rays for a week in my tent to save money on housing expenses for my work trip. I cannot express how pleased I was the entire time I was there! The campground itself is beautiful and the forest around was great to explore. The main office has a communal kitchen that is well kept and very convenient the bathroom was also clean. And with all of that it was only 11 dollars a night to camp! You can't beat Ray's!!
