- Simple check-in process: For late arrivals or those seeking efficiency, the campground offers a straightforward check-in. Campers can "simply call ahead, let them know your coming, put cash in a box upon arrival, and off to your camp spot!" This self-service approach for after-hours arrivals demonstrates flexibility and trust.
- Nicely set up sites: A family who stayed for their first camping trip found the "sites were nicely set up," indicating that the campground takes care in arranging and maintaining individual camping areas. This could imply level spots, designated fire rings, and perhaps picnic tables (though not explicitly mentioned).

This is crucial for a comfortable camping experience and suggests that the campground prioritizes hygiene and maintenance of shared amenities. This allows campers to easily combine their natural explorations with local amenities and entertainment.

Chestnut Creek Campground Reviews
Perfect place for anyone a little more adventurous to stop at for the night! I found this place last minute looking for a place to car-camp, and it couldn't have turned out better. Simply call ahead, let them know your coming, put cash in a box upon arrival, and off to your camp spot! (I showed up around 9pm- no issues)
Apr 23, 2025 · Tracker OutdoorsStayed here for our first family camp trip and had a perfectly lovely time. The location is beautiful and the sites were nicely set up. The facilities were very clean and worked well. The location is perfect - barely 5 minutes to the New River Gorge Visitor Center and easy access to the park's North side as well as all that nearby Fayetteville had to offer. Seth was very welcoming and helpful since our trip was just before the season opened and we are so grateful he let us stay because it really made our trip! Will definitely be recommending to our families for their future NRG trips!
Mar 31, 2025 · Allison IselyGreat little campground tucked away in the woods but also just a short drive from Fayetteville, Summersville, and all the outdoor rec that the mountains of WV have to offer. The owner is very friendly and accommodating, prices are good, facilities are kept clean and there’s hot water to shower with. You can choose from different size campsites with room for multiple tents, an overland rig, full 20+ person group camp set up, or a single minimalist gig. There campfire rings in each site and firewood for sale and you usually have decent privacy from the other campsites unless it’s bridge day weekend (massive local festival).
Nov 20, 2024 · Trey AndrewWe stayed 4 nights and were very impressed with this campground! The tent sites are MUCH larger than average and the bathhouse was neat and clean. Hot water and a wash sink for dishes are always a plus! Seth was beyond friendly and was quick to answer questions about our stay! We would definitely stay again if we visit the area again!!!!
Jun 27, 2024 · Erin WarrenDefinitely one of the most beautiful campgrounds I've been in the new river gorge. I was here with several friends and we had a couple different camps say it's. The people around were very kind, the owner was very kind, and it was genuinely just a beautiful and very well taken care of site. There is climbing very close, and it's definitely really close to the heart of New River Gorge. Love this campground, will be coming back.
