Mooseshroom Yurt Retreat and Campground Introduce
For local residents in Montana seeking "camping near me" with a unique twist, Mooseshroom Yurt Retreat and Campground, located at 1165 Old Hwy 2 E, Columbia Falls, MT 59912, USA, offers a distinctive lodging experience. Situated near Columbia Falls, this property provides the option of staying in yurts alongside a very limited number of traditional campsites. While one review highlights a positive yurt experience, another presents significant concerns regarding at least one of the campsites, particularly concerning vehicle accessibility and site conditions. Therefore, local users should carefully consider these perspectives when evaluating this property for their camping needs.
When local users search for "camping near me," they typically expect clear information about the types of accommodations available, the condition of the campsites, and the accessibility of the property. Mooseshroom Yurt Retreat and Campground offers a blend of yurt stays and a small number of campsites. One positive review mentions a "loved the yurt" experience and praises the owner, also noting a friendly "furry little neighbor" on the grounds, suggesting a potentially charming and welcoming atmosphere for yurt guests. However, a contrasting review details a "shockingly disappointing" experience with campsite #4, citing issues with vehicle fit, overcrowded and weedy conditions, and a perceived high price for the offered amenities at that particular site.
The environment of Mooseshroom Yurt Retreat and Campground appears to be a mix of natural surroundings and the unique structures of the yurts. The positive review suggests a pleasant atmosphere that at least some guests find appealing. The mention of a "furry little neighbor" hints at the presence of local wildlife or perhaps friendly animals on the property, potentially adding to the charm for some visitors. However, the negative review paints a different picture for at least one of the campsites, describing it as "directly on the main road/ access road" and "overcrowded with weeds and mosquitoes." This suggests that the environment and ambiance may vary significantly depending on the specific accommodation chosen within the property. The distance to communal amenities, such as showers, is also noted as a potential inconvenience for some, involving a "5-8 minute walk with mosquitos attacking you."
In terms of services, Mooseshroom Yurt Retreat and Campground offers showers as a communal amenity, which one guest found "nice." However, the accessibility of these showers from at least one campsite was described as inconvenient due to the distance and the presence of mosquitoes. The property explicitly states "no RVs or trailers" in its advertising, which led to a negative experience for a guest with a small passenger van that they could not fit at their assigned campsite. The positive yurt review implies that the yurts themselves are well-equipped and comfortable. The availability of only four campsites in total suggests that traditional camping is a very limited offering at this location. The interaction with the owner Terri, as described in the negative review, was perceived as unhelpful and dismissive regarding the issues encountered with the campsite. The positive review, on the other hand, praises the owner, indicating a potential inconsistency in guest experiences or perhaps a difference in the management of yurt guests versus campsite guests.
The features of Mooseshroom Yurt Retreat and Campground are centered around its unique yurt accommodations and the limited campsites. The yurts themselves appear to be a key feature, offering a distinctive and potentially comfortable lodging option. The presence of communal showers is a standard amenity. The mention of a "furry little neighbor" could be considered a unique, albeit unpredictable, feature. However, the significant issue raised in the negative review regarding the unsuitability of at least one campsite for even a small vehicle, despite the advertising mentioning "car camping," is a critical feature that local users with vehicles should be aware of. The potential for overcrowding with weeds and mosquitoes at some campsites, as also mentioned, is another important feature to consider. The limited number of campsites (only four) means that availability for traditional camping is likely scarce.
Promotional information for Mooseshroom Yurt Retreat and Campground is not provided in the given reviews. Local users interested in staying here, whether in a yurt or one of the campsites, should contact the property directly using the provided phone numbers: (928) 607-3134 or +1 928-607-3134. Inquiring about the specific features and conditions of the yurts and each of the four campsites is highly recommended before booking. Asking about vehicle accessibility for the campsites, the distance to amenities from each site, and any current rates or specials would be prudent. Given the contrasting reviews, it would be wise for potential guests to seek clarification on what to expect based on their chosen accommodation type.
For local residents searching for "camping near me" in the Columbia Falls area, Mooseshroom Yurt Retreat and Campground presents a mixed picture. While the yurts appear to offer a positive and unique glamping experience, as suggested by one review, the experience for those booking at least one of the traditional campsites seems to be significantly less satisfactory, with issues related to vehicle access, site conditions, and customer service being raised. The very limited number of campsites (four in total) also means that options for traditional camping are scarce. Local users considering this property should carefully weigh the potential appeal of the yurts against the reported problems with at least one of the campsites and the accessibility of communal amenities. Direct communication with the property owner is strongly advised to gain a clear understanding of the current conditions and suitability for individual needs.
In conclusion, Mooseshroom Yurt Retreat and Campground near Columbia Falls, Montana, offers a unique lodging experience with its yurts, which at least one guest found enjoyable. However, potential local campers should be aware of a concerning review detailing significant issues with at least one of the four campsites, including vehicle inaccessibility and poor site conditions. The limited number of campsites and the reported inconvenience of accessing communal showers from some locations are also important considerations. Local users are strongly encouraged to contact the property directly at (928) 607-3134 or +1 928-607-3134 to inquire specifically about the yurts and the individual campsites to ensure they meet their needs and expectations before booking. Proceed with caution regarding the campsites based on the available feedback.

Mooseshroom Yurt Retreat and Campground Reviews
Please keep in mind- I’m the least picky person when it comes right campsites and rarely leave bad reviews. This place was shockingly disappointing. Let me just start with if you have a yurt or site # 4 out of the 4 campsites. It could be a different experience. The ad clearly says no RVs or trailers- I get that. We have a small passenger van (close to the same size of my Jeep Grand Cherokee- which wouldn’t have fit either) We paid $70- which by the way- is insane even if you’re in site 4 for what you’re getting. We pull up to our site which is directly on the main road/ access road to the other sites. We couldn’t fit our vehicle what’s so ever- it would hung out in the road & blocked cars where they would have to pass and the tent site was overcrowded with weeds and mosquitoes. Within one minute of pulling up- we decided it would not be acceptable to stay there. We figured we would at least use the showers since we would be out the $70 we paid for A CAMPSITE. We pulled into a turn around and proceeded to use the showers- which by the way.. 5-8 minute walk with mosquitos attacking you to use any of the communal amenities. I was greeted by Terri and I was very nice and explained we would have to stay elsewhere because vehicles can’t fit there and not one time did I ask for money back or be rude and I received a dirty look and “My description clearly states RVs can’t fit there” which I didn’t appreciate because I was just going to use the showers and leave and she could have cared less that I was put in this predicament. Her ad even mentions “car camping” which is all we were trying to do. Outside of the whole experience- showers were nice but the campsites are an absolute joke and I’d go with any other one in the area on Hip Camp. We did- for $50 less and it ended up being a great night :)
Jul 27, 2022 · Haley CalhounWas on a road trip and came her nearing the end of my trip. Loved the yurt and the owner! Also got to say hi to the furry little neighbor that roams the grounds
Oct 06, 2021 · Patrick MackleMy girlfriend and I camped here for 4 days and loved it! There are only 4 or 5 spots that are very spaced apart so you’re not camping on top of your neighbor. The commons area where the showers, bathrooms and kitchen are located are very clean and well maintained! The unlimited hot water was a god send after a long day of exploring the park. Terri was very friendly and accommodating, she also has a beautiful dog named Macy that was so friendly! There is the occasional train and road noise but otherwise very peaceful, we will be coming back next time we visit the park.
Aug 08, 2021 · Alex TuggleThis was an amazing experience, the owners thought of so many ways to make the common space work for everyone so we could have groceries, cook and grill. We would love to go back here everytime we go to Glacier!!
