Park Creek Campground

Concrete, WA 98237, USA

4.0
Definitely fun place once you drive through the dirt road potholes city country road for days. Once we finally made it here. There’s two places to go. To the left is the creek and to the right is the hot springs. We walked about half way to the creek. It started to rain bad on us. There is absolutely no reception once you turn off the main road, then takes like 30 minutes to drive uphill and roads are sketchy so a car will definitely have issue with the potholes. The area is absolutely gorgeous. Very peaceful and lots of parking. There is trails to take back down to get to the creek and trails upwards to get to the hot springs. Here you can also find gems in the rocks or along the creek according to my rock hunting book. They’re scattered all around the creek. Just need a sifter, pick ax, and hammer to get them out the rocks. We found a few just walking along to the creek. - Tiffany C.

Park Creek Campground Introduce

Looking for exceptional "camping near me" in the scenic landscapes of Washington State? Consider Park Creek Campground, nestled near Concrete, WA 98237, USA. Based on feedback from fellow campers, Park Creek Campground offers a unique and potentially rewarding outdoor experience, characterized by its natural beauty, access to a creek and nearby hot springs, and opportunities for exploration. Let's delve into what makes Park Creek Campground a noteworthy option for your next camping adventure.

The Environment: Gorgeous, Peaceful, and Offering Exploration

The reviews paint a picture of a truly beautiful and peaceful environment at Park Creek Campground. Situated after what some describe as a somewhat challenging drive on a dirt road with potholes, the destination rewards the journey with stunning natural surroundings. Campers highlight the presence of a creek and its proximity to Baker Hot Springs, offering diverse opportunities for outdoor enjoyment. The area is noted for its tranquility, providing a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

One particularly interesting feature mentioned is the potential for gem hunting along the creek. According to one camper's rock hunting book, gems can be found scattered around the creek, requiring tools like a sifter, pickaxe, and hammer to extract them from the rocks. Even without these tools, some finds were made just by walking along the creek, suggesting a fun and unique activity for visitors of all ages.

The campground itself features level and generously sized campsites. While some reviewers noted that the spacing between sites might feel less private if the campground were full due to limited cover, the spaciousness of the individual sites is a definite plus. The presence of large overhead trees offers dappled shade throughout the campground, enhancing comfort during warmer days.

Nearly all campsites provide access to the creek, with a few offering a more gradual decline and "stepping stones" for easier, drier access to the water's edge. This thoughtful design caters to different preferences and mobility levels, making the creek accessible to more campers.

Services: Clean Facilities and Trail Access

One of the standout service aspects of Park Creek Campground is the presence of a relatively new and immaculately clean restroom facility. One reviewer specifically mentioned a restroom near site 10 that was only a year old and odor-free. While they noted the presence of flies around a high window (which is common in outdoor settings), the overall cleanliness of the restroom is a significant positive for camper comfort.

A significant bonus for outdoor enthusiasts is the access to a nice hiking trail directly from the far end of the campground. This trail, formerly Forest Road 1144 and now closed to vehicles, reportedly leads up to Baker Hot Springs, approximately 3.5 miles one way. While one reviewer only hiked a mile, the existence of this trail offers a fantastic opportunity for hiking and exploring the surrounding natural beauty directly from the campground.

It's important to note that one reviewer mentioned a complete lack of mobile phone reception once turning off the main road, with an uphill drive of about 30 minutes on potentially challenging roads with potholes. This suggests that while the destination is beautiful and peaceful, it's also somewhat remote, and visitors should be prepared for limited or no connectivity.

Park Creek Campground boasts several appealing features for those seeking a "camping near me" experience that goes beyond the basics:

  • Creek Access: Enjoy the beauty and sounds of the creek, with some sites offering easier access points.
