While primarily known for its youth-focused programs, the center also appears to accommodate group retreats and potentially other camping arrangements, providing a unique setting within the Lake Cumberland region.
Based on available customer reviews, the Lake Cumberland 4-H Camping Center provides an environment that is both engaging and conducive to group activities. One reviewer enthusiastically recommends it as a "fun place to send your kids to," highlighting the opportunity for children to have an exciting and memorable time. The mention of kids having a "wild time" and meeting new friends suggests a vibrant and social atmosphere, particularly during youth camp sessions. The staff is described as "amazing," indicating a supportive and well-organized environment for young campers.
The natural environment of the camping center offers opportunities for outdoor activities. Reviewers mention both "hiking" and "swimming" as activities that campers can enjoy with their cabin groups or friends. This suggests that the facility is located in an area with access to trails for exploration and a body of water suitable for swimming, likely within Lake Cumberland or a designated area on the property. These natural features contribute to a well-rounded camping experience, allowing participants to engage with the outdoors and enjoy physical activity.
A unique activity mentioned in one of the reviews is "gaga ball." The reviewer playfully encourages those unfamiliar with the game not to worry, as they will "find out" upon arrival. This suggests that gaga ball is a popular and engaging activity offered at the camping center, likely providing a fun and interactive experience for participants of all ages. The inclusion of such specific recreational activities indicates a focus on providing diverse forms of entertainment and engagement for campers.
Beyond youth camps, the Lake Cumberland 4-H Camping Center has also served as a location for adult group retreats. One reviewer recounts bringing a group of teaching artists to this "secluded location" for an annual retreat for several years. The fact that "everyone absolutely loved the location, the facility, and the staff" speaks volumes about the appeal and suitability of the center for adult gatherings as well. The description of the location as "secluded" suggests a peaceful and private setting, ideal for groups seeking a focused and undisturbed environment for their activities.
The facilities at the Lake Cumberland 4-H Camping Center appear to be well-received, contributing to the positive experiences of retreat attendees. The mention of a "large deck" where "evening musical performance... among the rocking chairs was magical" highlights a specific feature that enhances the ambiance and provides a communal space for relaxation and entertainment. This suggests that the center offers more than just basic camping amenities, potentially including comfortable gathering spaces and facilities suitable for various group activities.
While the overall experience was highly positive for the teaching artist retreat, one aspect mentioned was that "the food left a bit to be desired but it kept body and soul together." This provides an objective point of feedback regarding the catering services, suggesting that while functional, the food might not be a highlight of the experience. However, the reviewer's emphasis on the positive aspects of the location, facility, and staff indicates that these outweighed any shortcomings in the food quality.
The reference to "cabin" groups for hiking and swimming suggests that accommodation is provided in cabin-style structures. This would offer a more sheltered and communal living arrangement for campers compared to individual tents or RV sites. The mention of parents feeling "very comfortable without you or your siblings" in the context of children's camps further implies that the cabins provide a safe and supervised environment for young participants.
The hashtag "#bullitt country camper July 2023" in one review indicates that the camping center attracts visitors from various regions and is active during the summer months. This suggests that it is a recognized and utilized camping destination within Kentucky.

Nov 27, 2023 · Kaitlyn RauschYears ago we found this secluded location and decided to bring a group of teaching artists here for an annual retreat. We did this for several years in a row and everyone absolutely loved the location, the facility, and the staff. The food left a bit to be desired but it kept body and soul together. Evening musical performance on the large deck, among the rocking chairs was magical. Great memories.
Sep 16, 2021 · Dennis HornI don't recommend this camp! We Had to drive almost 4 hrs to come get my daughter!! 4 hours! They said she was sick, but she was completely fine when I got there!! They care absolutely zero percent about the parents having to figure out such a thing! Staff was also very short and rude. Again, they didn't care about our situation!!
Aug 04, 2022 · Brandin PrestinBeautiful lake, canoes, life jackets! Pool. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Good food selection. Large meeting rooms. A little cave, challenge course. Fun to be had by all.
Aug 15, 2019 · Natasha TurnerThe people are fantastic...very helpful and friendly! The food and rooms are adequate and the price is right. It’s a great place to host a large group and be together in a serene little town.
