This amenity can be particularly valuable for longer stays, allowing you to keep your clothes clean and fresh without having to leave the campground. Additionally, the resort features a clubhouse equipped with Wi-Fi. This communal space offers a place to connect with fellow campers, access the internet for work or leisure, and potentially participate in organized activities.
The natural setting of Lake Forest Resort is another significant draw. Surrounded by a tranquil forest, campers can enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the outdoors. According to one satisfied guest, Lake Forest Resort is a "fun place for senior couples to fellowship and play games." The review highlights the resort's appeal to this demographic, mentioning activities such as cards, bocce, and a unique 9-hole Cayman golf course. This suggests that the resort fosters a welcoming and engaging environment for seniors looking to socialize and enjoy recreational activities in a relaxed setting.
However, it is important to consider all feedback when evaluating a campground. One review expresses a negative experience, stating that the reviewer and their wife were allegedly denied camping despite wanting to "vacation while still working." The reviewer claims the decision seemed arbitrary and that the staff member they encountered was "very rude and abrupt." They further suggest that there might be an undisclosed distance-based policy for allowing local residents to camp at the resort. This negative review also recommends a nearby alternative, Ivanhoe Lake Campground, noting its welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
It is crucial to approach individual reviews with a balanced perspective. While positive reviews highlight the amenities and environment of Lake Forest Resort, the negative review raises concerns about potential inconsistencies in policy and customer service. Prospective campers may want to inquire directly with the resort management regarding any specific policies or restrictions that might apply to local residents.
Despite the contrasting feedback, the positive review underscores the availability of excellent facilities and a welcoming atmosphere for certain demographics. The mention of a boat/swim dock, laundry, clubhouse with Wi-Fi, and the Cayman golf course paints a picture of a campground that offers more than just basic camping amenities. The forest setting and the allowance of campfires further enhance the appeal for those seeking a traditional outdoor experience with added conveniences.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the East Wakefield, NH area, Lake Forest Resort presents itself as a campground with notable facilities and a picturesque lakeside location on Great East Lake. The availability of a boat/swim dock caters to water enthusiasts, while the laundry and clubhouse with Wi-Fi offer practical conveniences. The 9-hole Cayman golf course provides a unique recreational option not commonly found at campgrounds. The reported friendly atmosphere for senior couples suggests a welcoming community for this group.
However, prospective campers should be aware of the negative feedback regarding potential restrictions for local residents and reported instances of rude service. It would be prudent to contact Lake Forest Resort directly to clarify their policies and ensure it aligns with your specific needs and circumstances. Asking about any distance-based restrictions for local campers and inquiring about their customer service protocols might be beneficial before making a reservation.
In summary, Lake Forest Resort offers a compelling option for "camping near me" seekers in East Wakefield, NH, particularly those looking for a lakeside location with a range of amenities such as a boat/swim dock, laundry facilities, a clubhouse with Wi-Fi, and even a 9-hole Cayman golf course. The forest setting and the allowance of campfires contribute to a traditional camping feel. While one review suggests a positive experience, especially for senior couples, another raises concerns about potential restrictions for local residents and the quality of customer service. Sep 26, 2024 · Mark WalterMy wife and I thought it would be nice to vacation while still working, something we couldn’t do if we took our camper north as we usually would. But apparently you can’t camp at lake forest resort if you live and work within an undisclosed distance. The man was very rude and abrupt. I think he decides on a person to person basis.Ivanhoe lake campground is welcoming and friendly. You have to drive by the to get to LFR.Try someplace else!
Feb 10, 2023 · George FrancoisThis is an over 50 campground with deep campsites and crushed stone for the RV. With the trailer unhooked, we still had 25 feet from the truck to the road. The water and electric were near the road so bring double length of utility connections. Sewer inlet was midway down the site. The owners Judy & Dave treated us very nicely. There is a sweet little par 3&4 golf course at the campground, nice boat launch and docks. Plenty of chairs at the water. The lake is crystal clear water and beautiful. We did not have cable but got 8 TV stations with our antenna. There is no wifi but that is okay... it's nice to disconnect. The seasonal folks appear to have cable/internet. The place is kept up very well and has lots of scheduled activities for the adults like bingo, shuffleboard, golf, karaoke, etc... There is a nice tent area with water & electric. Lots of fun and nice restaurants nearby. We didn't see any bath houses as this place is more geared to seasonals with a few full hookup transient sites. We did see the laundry room with plenty of units. Being an over 50 place, there are no playgrounds and pools. It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay here and will be back. Joe & Dani.
Aug 13, 2018 · Joe Don BakerIt was really nice. Lake is nice. Golf course is nice. Lots of big trees everywhere. Some places we’ve been aren’t like that. Being 55+ it’s very quiet. Some places we’ve been aren’t like that, either!
Aug 31, 2023 · Jason JoyA secret gem of a place that is a quiet, beautiful and a haven from the crowded noisy summer campgrounds. This is mostly a seasonal getaway for retired people which is exactly what we like. They have a few transient spaces and could accommodate our 40 foot 5th wheel and long bed dually truck with no problems and tons of room to spare. Lovely shaded sites, so not so good for satellite, but the seasonals can subscribe to cable. No wifi at the sites either, but our AT&T phones and hotspot worked great at the campground. They have a beautiful spot on Great East Lake for swimming or kayaking, a nice 9 hole golf course, an extra clean and nice laundry with a ton of new machines. You can walk or ride bikes for miles around the complex and all the seasonals we met were very friendly. We would definitely come back and are even considering becoming seasonals there in the future. Judy and Dave are very welcoming and work hard to make this a little slice of heaven! One of the nicest places we've stayed so far in our journeys!
