Lakeside Camping Introduce
For local users in Vermont and the surrounding areas searching for a picturesque "camping near me" experience, Lakeside Camping, located at 1348 VT-105 in Island Pond, VT, offers a potentially idyllic retreat. Based on the enthusiastic reviews from fellow campers, this campground appears to be a gem within Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, particularly noted for its stunning waterfront and beachside campsites. Combining natural beauty with essential services and a friendly atmosphere, Lakeside Camping seems to be a highly recommended destination for those seeking a relaxing and scenic camping getaway.
One of the most compelling features of Lakeside Camping, as highlighted by a reviewer, is that it is "probably one of sweetest campgrounds with a waterview/beach site you'll find in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom." This suggests that the campground boasts prime locations directly on or very near the water, offering beautiful views and easy access to a beach area. Such waterfront campsites are often highly sought after for their scenic appeal and the recreational opportunities they provide, such as swimming, sunbathing, and simply enjoying the lakeside ambiance. The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is known for its natural beauty, making this high praise for the campground's location within the region.
The sense of community at Lakeside Camping is also noteworthy. One transient camper specifically mentioned that "Seasonal campers are very friendly to transient camper like me." This indicates a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where both long-term and short-term visitors feel comfortable and accepted. A friendly community can significantly enhance the camping experience, fostering a relaxed and enjoyable environment for everyone.
For those planning to camp during late May or early June, one reviewer offers a valuable piece of advice: "be prepared for weather changes, including strong winds." This suggests that while the location is beautiful, early summer in this area might experience unpredictable weather patterns, and campers should come prepared for varying conditions, including potentially windy periods, especially if camping directly on the beach or near the water. Being aware of potential weather changes allows campers to pack appropriately and stay safe and comfortable during their stay.
Overall, Lakeside Camping is described as a "very nice and cozy campground." The mention of "numerous sites with lake view" further emphasizes the abundance of scenic waterfront locations available to campers. The reviewer also noted that the campground "Has the feeling of a state park with all the trees, but with services." This is a significant compliment, suggesting that Lakeside Camping offers a natural and wooded environment reminiscent of a state park's beauty, while also providing the convenience of services typically found in private campgrounds. The specific services are not detailed in the reviews, but they could include amenities such as restrooms, showers, and possibly hookups for RVs, adding to the comfort and convenience of the camping experience.
The presence of a "nice beach" is another key feature that makes Lakeside Camping appealing, particularly for families and those who enjoy water-based activities. A beach provides a dedicated area for swimming, playing in the sand, and relaxing by the water's edge, enhancing the recreational opportunities available at the campground. The positive feedback about the "nice people" aligns with the earlier comment about the friendly seasonal campers, suggesting a generally welcoming and pleasant atmosphere fostered by both the campground community and potentially the management.
The final sentiment from one reviewer, "Will return for sure," speaks volumes about their positive experience at Lakeside Camping and serves as a strong recommendation for others considering a visit. This repeat customer's enthusiasm underscores the overall appeal and quality of the campground.
Considering the "camping near me" platform category, Lakeside Camping in Island Pond, VT, offers a compelling destination for local users seeking a scenic and enjoyable waterfront camping experience. The combination of beautiful lake views, a nice beach, a cozy atmosphere, and friendly people makes it an attractive option for individuals, families, and groups. The availability of services, coupled with the natural, state-park-like environment, provides a balance of comfort and immersion in nature. The advice to be prepared for weather changes in late May/early June is a practical tip for those planning to visit during that time.

Jun 14, 2024 · Nita MooreVery nice and cozy campground. Numerous sites with lake view. Has the feeling of a state park with all the trees, but with services. Nice beach, nice people. Will return for sure.
Jul 02, 2024 · Martin FillionThe location is great, the sites are tiny. I told them I would be working remotely and needed internet, they said they had wifi throughout the campground, which downloaded at best at T1 speeds (in the 1990s that was good). They also put me in a "pull-through" spot, except my camper couldn't make the turn out of the spot, so I had to back out of the spot, while there was plenty of space up top. Also, the rules are crazy. For instance, no riding bikes on the property? What did they expect my kid to do?
Aug 05, 2023 · Tyler BackusWe used to love this place. Last year we had a spot 2 doors down from a seasonal camper who has an elaborate site with their own staircase down to the water. When they were boating things were quiet. When they came back at sunset all hell broke out. The music was unbearable and at times it was blasting at 1am. At 8am sharp AC/DC blared from their site. I contacted the owner after we left and they never responded to my email. This campground is now a drunken party spot with no oversight and respect for those who enjoy the outdoors, some peace and quiet and the sound of loons.
May 25, 2021 · Reenie PhillipsHidden gem. My friend found this on a last minute excursion through Vermont. We always wanted to fish a few of the lakes up there and were in a situation that allowed us to make a detour that way. We called them on our way there and they accommodated us with a rental trailer onsite. Camper was super clean. Very very quiet even with a good amount of sites taken. Everyone was friendly and they accommodated my large truck and a boat to parking. Hope to be back soon. Rates were fair as well in my opinion.
