This locally owned and operated campground provides a welcoming atmosphere and a prime location to explore the natural beauty of the Northeast Kingdom.
Imagine waking up to the tranquil sounds of lapping water and the stunning vista of Lake Willoughby, often referred to as the "Lucerne of Vermont" due to its crystal-clear depths and glacial formation. White Caps Campground boasts several campsites with direct lake views, allowing you to immerse yourself in this picturesque environment from the moment you arrive. Even sites not directly on the water offer easy access to the lake and its surrounding attractions.
The campground itself, while described as being on the smaller side, is meticulously maintained, ensuring a clean and comfortable stay for all campers. The individual sites are well-kept and provide ample space for parking your camper or setting up your tent. While some reviewers noted that sites in certain areas might be closer together, particularly those with slide-outs, the overall organization and upkeep of the campground contribute to a positive camping experience.
One of the standout features of White Caps Campground is its on-site store, which conveniently doubles as a deli. This means you can easily grab essential camping supplies without having to venture far. More than just a convenience store, the deli offers delicious sandwiches and breakfast options, perfect for fueling up before a day of adventure or enjoying a leisurely meal by the lake. This amenity adds a significant layer of ease to your camping trip, allowing you to spend more time relaxing and exploring.
For those eager to experience the beauty of Lake Willoughby up close, White Caps Campground offers a variety of watercraft rentals. Whether you prefer the leisurely pace of a canoe, the agility of a kayak, the fun of a paddleboard, or the companionship of a double kayak, you'll find the equipment you need right at the campground. Spending a day paddling on the clear waters of Lake Willoughby, surrounded by the verdant hills, is an unforgettable experience. Please note, as mentioned by a visitor in October, water activities are weather-dependent and may not be available during colder months.
The location of White Caps Campground is truly ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. Directly across the street from the campground lies Lake Willoughby itself, inviting swimming (during warmer months) and exploration along its shores. A small beach area provides a spot for sunbathing and enjoying the lake's edge. Moreover, the area is a haven for hikers, with numerous trails nearby offering varying levels of difficulty and stunning views of the lake and surrounding landscape. Whether you're looking for a gentle stroll or a more challenging trek, you'll find options to suit your preferences.
Beyond the immediate vicinity of the campground and Lake Willoughby, the region offers even more opportunities for recreation. White Caps Campground Reviews
We reserved a spot in October, and the view was magnificent. We were on the front road site, and it was wonderful; the camping was quiet. Unfortunately, we couldn't swim or go paddle boarding due to the cold temperature. The staff members and owner were friendly and helpful. See you next summer!!:)
Oct 13, 2024 · Joanne MichaudMy husband and I like to try different campgrounds to check out areas. This was our 1st visit to White Caps Campground. Located on Southern end of Lake Willoughby in Westmore Vermont. We went in mid-September and there was already some color in the hills. The campground is on the smaller side. We had a site looking at the lake. It was beautiful. The site was clean, well maintained and easy to park our camper. They really pack in the sites in this part of the campground. We have a slide and the camer next to us also had slide. With both extended, there was only a narrow walkway. The store is also a Deli and makes great sandwiches and breakfast. They rent water craft (canoe, kayak, paddleboard, and double kayak) so you can enjoy the lake.Across the street is the lake, hiking trails, and a small beach area. We took a drive to Newport, VT so we bike on Kingdom Trails (mountain bike trails but varying levels of difficulty). Great recreation area! The scenery is stunning and the staff is great! Overall worth the trip to get there!
Oct 11, 2024 · April PettengillOur summer isn't complete without our annual trip to white caps, the owners are always so accommodating, whether is just stopping by to say hello or seeing you trying to get into the store 30 minutes after close because you need ice and they don't bat an eye to help you out. We usually tent camp, but finally got a camper and experienced a whole other side of the campground and love it even more!
Oct 11, 2024 · Brittani CurleyPretty neet camping place with a nice hike and gorgeous view however other camper are very close and showers cost 8 quarters for 5 min, you have to exchange cash for these quartes since they don’t acept accept visa if you don’t buy anything . Our showerStoped working after 5Min and wouldn’t accept moreQuarters, weFinished washing in the fauset. Our dining table was on a hill and you have to use temporary exterior bathrooms.
