Laura Lake Campground

9161-9139 Laura Lake Rd #121, Armstrong Creek, WI 54103, USA

4.0
Nice camping spot to get away from civilization. The closest town is Armstrong Creek where there is an opportunity for fuel, food, and some incidentals. There are no electrical sites nor are there showers so make sure you bring your battery packs, solar chargers, and portable showers. The nights are quiet and some might say pitch black as thousands of stars are overhead. The campsite has three bodies of water; Gordon, Laura, and Bog lake. Gordon has a sand beach and boat landing. Laura has a boat landing, and Bog has a wooden bridge which allows one to launch a small boat in the bog.Other activities include a hike around Laura lake and 6 miles of biking. The biking trail is in essence a grass and leaf covered logging road. There are not many hills and the only challenge is the very soft terrain making it slow going and grueling. Not recommended for families as the soft terrain will suck the energy from kids quick. Not recommended for bikers looking for a single track experience. Best suited for a horse and hiking trail. - Jeff Weyenberg

For local users exploring the "camping near me" category, Laura Lake Campground offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourselves in a more rustic and natural setting within the scenic landscapes of Wisconsin. Environment:

Laura Lake Campground is described as a "nice camping spot to get away from civilization," emphasizing its secluded and natural environment. Located near Armstrong Creek, the campground provides a true wilderness feel. While the closest town offers essential amenities like fuel and food, the campground itself is designed for those seeking a more off-grid experience. One of its standout environmental features is the presence of three distinct bodies of water: Gordon Lake, Laura Lake, and Bog Lake. Gordon Lake boasts a sand beach and a boat landing, perfect for swimming and launching boats. Laura Lake also has a boat landing, inviting exploration by water. Bog Lake features a wooden bridge, allowing for the launching of smaller boats. This variety of water bodies enhances the natural appeal and offers different recreational opportunities. Furthermore, the reviews highlight the quiet nights and the remarkable "pitch black" skies, ideal for stargazing, with "thousands of stars overhead." The surrounding area is likely heavily wooded, providing a sense of privacy and a deep connection with nature. You can expect a tranquil environment where the sounds of nature dominate, making it a peaceful retreat.

Services:

It's important to note that Laura Lake Campground offers a more primitive camping experience. According to customer reviews, there are "no electrical sites" and "no showers." Therefore, campers should come prepared with their own power sources, such as battery packs and solar chargers, as well as portable shower solutions if desired. However, the campground does provide essential services for a comfortable rustic experience. Reviews mention "clean outhouses" and a "fresh water pump," ensuring basic sanitation and access to drinking water. These fundamental services support a more self-sufficient camping style, appealing to those who enjoy a more direct connection with nature without the conveniences of more developed campgrounds.

Features:

Laura Lake Campground boasts several features that cater to outdoor enthusiasts. The presence of three lakes is a significant draw, offering opportunities for boating, swimming (at Gordon Lake's sand beach), and fishing (though not explicitly mentioned, it's a likely activity). For those who enjoy land-based activities, there is a hiking trail around Laura Lake, allowing campers to explore the perimeter of the lake on foot. Additionally, there are approximately 6 miles of biking trails. However, it's crucial to note the description of the biking trail: it's characterized as a "grass and leaf covered logging road" with "very soft terrain," making it slow and potentially grueling. It is explicitly "not recommended for families" or bikers seeking a single-track experience, but it is noted as being "best suited for a horse and hiking trail." This suggests that while biking is possible, the terrain presents a unique challenge. The quiet nights and exceptional stargazing opportunities are also significant features, offering a chance to experience the night sky in its full glory, away from city lights. The reviews also mention that the campsites are "private enough" and "woodsy enough," providing a sense of seclusion and immersion in the forest.

Promotional Information:

Based on the provided information, there are no specific promotional details available. As a more rustic and potentially less commercially focused campground, Laura Lake Campground might not frequently offer promotions in the traditional sense. For any potential special rates, group discounts, or information on seasonal availability, it is best to contact them directly at (715) 362-3100 or +1 715-362-3100. With its three lakes, hiking opportunities, exceptional stargazing, and private, woodsy campsites, it's ideal for those comfortable with a more rustic camping style.
