Leisure Acres Introduce
For local users and travelers planning to explore the scenic beauty of Helen and the surrounding State and National Parks in northern Georgia and searching for a convenient "camping near me" option for their RV or travel trailer, Leisure Acres, located at 3840 Westmoreland Rd, Cleveland, GA 30528, USA, presents a location with both notable advantages and potential drawbacks, according to recent customer reviews. While praised for its maintenance, friendly staff, and proximity to amenities, concerns have been raised regarding accessibility for large RVs and noise levels due to its location near a busy highway.
One reviewer specifically recommends Leisure Acres as "the place to park your RV/Travel Trailer for the week and weekend" if you are traveling to the State and National Parks around Helen. This suggests that its location is strategically advantageous for those looking to use it as a basecamp for exploring the popular attractions in the Helen area and the broader North Georgia region. The reviewer also notes that the "Park is well maintained," indicating a level of care and upkeep that contributes to a positive guest experience. Furthermore, they commend the staff as "both super friendly and very helpful," highlighting a welcoming and supportive service aspect of the campground.
Another positive attribute mentioned is that the "Park is very quiet," which directly contradicts a later review, indicating a potential variability in experiences or perhaps different locations within the park. The reviewer also points out a family-friendly feature: "the pond is well stocked for catch and release fishing with kids." This amenity can be a significant draw for families with children, providing a recreational activity right within the campground.
Convenience is further emphasized by the mention that "Many restaurants and a Super Walmart" are all located "within five minutes of the campground." This proximity to essential services and dining options can be a significant advantage for campers, providing easy access to groceries, supplies, and a variety of food choices without extensive travel.
However, another reviewer presents a more critical perspective, noting "a few shortcomings." One of the primary issues highlighted is the "main road going in and out of the park, which is gravel," and described as "very hard to negotiate with a big rig." The reviewer states that larger RVs "either drag or just tires," suggesting potential damage or difficulty in maneuvering for those with larger recreational vehicles. This is a crucial consideration for local users who own or travel in larger RVs or travel trailers.
The most significant drawback for the second reviewer was the campground's location "right on a very busy highway." They describe the traffic as heavy both "day at night with lots of big trucks and heavy equipment, motorcycles, muscle cars," leading to a "very noisy place." This directly contradicts the earlier review's assertion of a quiet park and suggests that noise from the adjacent highway could be a significant disturbance for some campers, potentially impacting their ability to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.
Adding to the potential discomfort, the second reviewer also notes that "There’s not a tree in sight in The main part of the campground so I’m sure it’s very hot in the summertime." The lack of shade in the central camping area could make stays during the warmer months less enjoyable due to excessive heat. This is an important environmental factor for local users to consider, especially if planning a trip during the summer.
Based on their experience, the second reviewer stated, "It was our first time there and I’m sure it will be the last time. That busy road and the traffic was enough to keep me from ever coming back." This strong negative sentiment underscores the potential impact of the noise from the highway on the overall camping experience for at least some visitors.
Considering these contrasting reviews, Leisure Acres appears to be a campground with both appealing qualities and significant drawbacks. Its strengths include being well-maintained, having friendly and helpful staff, offering a stocked fishing pond, and boasting a convenient location near restaurants and a major retailer, making it a potentially good base for exploring the Helen area. However, the challenges of navigating the gravel entrance road with large RVs and the potentially significant noise from the adjacent busy highway are crucial factors that local users need to consider.
The discrepancy regarding the noise level is particularly noteworthy. It's possible that some sites within Leisure Acres are more shielded from highway noise than others, or that individual sensitivities to noise vary. However, the explicit mention of heavy traffic, including large trucks and motorcycles, suggests that noise could be a pervasive issue for many campers.
The lack of trees in the main part of the campground is another environmental consideration, particularly for those camping during the hot Georgia summers. The absence of shade could make campsites uncomfortable during the day.
For local users seeking "camping near me" to visit Helen and the surrounding parks, Leisure Acres offers a convenient location and some appealing amenities. However, it is essential to weigh these benefits against the potential difficulties of accessing the park with a large RV and the reported noise from the nearby highway. It might be beneficial to inquire with the campground directly about site availability in potentially quieter areas (if they exist) and to assess the suitability of the gravel road for your specific vehicle.
There is no specific promotional information provided in the reviews, such as discounts or special offers. Local users would need to contact Leisure Acres directly at (706) 865-6466 or +1 706-865-6466 to inquire about rates, availability, and any current promotions.
In conclusion, Leisure Acres in Cleveland, GA, offers a well-maintained RV park with friendly staff and a convenient location for exploring the Helen area and accessing local amenities. The presence of a stocked fishing pond is a bonus for families. However, potential local users, especially those with large RVs, should be aware of the reported difficulties with the gravel entrance road. Additionally, the significant concern raised about noise from the adjacent busy highway, as well as the lack of shade in the main camping area, are crucial factors to consider when deciding if Leisure Acres is the right "camping near me" option for their needs. It would be advisable to seek further information from the campground directly to address these potential drawbacks before making a reservation.

Mar 10, 2025 · Vicki LanierWe had a 5 day stay at Leisure Acres, 4 days on site 91 and one day on site 40. First of all if your looking for WiFi service it was nonexistent at this RV park you get good signal strength but no internet service. It comes and goes but never over 1 Mbps download speeds and no upload at all. So with no cable or internet service you’ll need to go somewhere else with service to download entertainment. On to the sites where way to small for most RV so you have to park sideways in front of your RV or you’d be sticking out in the drive! Both of the sites we stayed on were very unleveled so much so that my leveling jacks we’re unable to compensate. That being said the pond was nice with the ducks but the driveway going out had a hill that is way to steep so you end up spinning your wheels trying to get out. I’m hoping that this is a work in progress. There are other small things that need work but I guess for the price per night was ok.
