Foothills Campground Introduce
For local users and those considering a longer-term "camping near me" option for their travel trailer in the Dahlonega, Georgia area, Foothills Campground, located at 5320 Long Branch Rd, Dahlonega, GA 30533, USA, presents a somewhat complex picture based on the available customer reviews. While described as mostly quiet and well-maintained by a long-term resident, significant concerns have been raised regarding the management style, specific rules, and discrepancies in advertised information, which potential guests should carefully consider.
One prospective visitor shared a negative initial interaction, stating that their wife called to inquire about a spot for their camper and found the person she spoke with to be "really rude." This initial contact experience could be a significant deterrent for some, as friendly and helpful communication is often a key factor in choosing a campground. The reviewer also noted that the property is owned by a church, leading to their personal decision to take their business elsewhere, highlighting a potential consideration for those with specific preferences regarding affiliations of the establishments they patronize.
In contrast, a former long-term resident who lived at Foothills Campground for over two and a half years described it as "mostly quiet and well maintained." This suggests that the physical environment of the campground is generally satisfactory for long-term stays. They also mentioned the presence of "good residents" who have lived there for many years, indicating a stable community aspect. However, this positive assessment of the environment is juxtaposed with significant criticisms regarding the management.
The long-term resident identified Debra, a volunteer through the church, as the manager. While acknowledging that she could be nice on some days, they reported inconsistent behavior, describing her as "not so much" on other days. More seriously, they recounted being "inaproperatly yelled at and forced to leave after 2.5 years" due to not having their leaves blown and weeds sprayed in their gravel lot upon returning from a week-long vacation. This incident raises concerns about the fairness and consistency of management expectations and interactions with residents.
Further criticisms from the former long-term resident include being ignored on multiple requests over their 2.5-year stay to move to a different lot with a deck as availability allowed. This suggests a lack of responsiveness to resident requests. Additionally, they pointed out a discrepancy in pricing, stating that the rent was $400, not the $350 advertised on the website. This inconsistency in advertised rates is a significant concern for transparency and trust.
Another significant limitation mentioned by the long-term resident is that "Washers and dryers are also not allowed under any circumstance," meaning residents must rely on off-site laundromats or, as they suggested, "make friends with someone with them locally." This lack of on-site laundry facilities is a major inconvenience, especially for those planning an extended stay.
Based on their experiences, the former long-term resident concluded that Foothills Campground might be suitable for those looking for a long-term place to set up their travel trailer only if they are "willing to hire weekly site maintenance and/or put up with Debra's speratic tantrums." This starkly highlights the potential challenges associated with the management of the campground.
Considering these reviews, the environment of Foothills Campground is described as mostly quiet and well-maintained, suggesting a potentially peaceful setting for a longer stay. However, the services and features appear to be quite limited. The absence of on-site laundry facilities is a significant drawback. The management is identified as a volunteer through the owning church, and experiences with the manager seem to vary significantly, with reports of rudeness, inconsistent behavior, and seemingly arbitrary enforcement of rules.
The primary feature of Foothills Campground appears to be its suitability for long-term RV stays. However, this is contingent on a willingness to adhere to specific rules, potentially hire external site maintenance, and navigate the reported inconsistencies in management interactions. The discrepancy in the advertised rent versus the actual rent charged is also a critical factor to consider.
There is no promotional information provided in the reviews, such as discounts for long-term stays or any specific amenities that might attract visitors beyond the basic hookups for RVs (which are implied but not explicitly detailed). Local users would need to contact Foothills Campground directly at the provided phone numbers, (706) 867-9979 or +1 706-867-9979, to inquire about current rates, availability, specific amenities (such as water, electricity, and sewer hookups), and any rules or regulations beyond those mentioned in the reviews.
The fact that the campground is owned by a church might be a factor for some local users, either positively or negatively, depending on their personal preferences. However, the negative comment about the church affiliation based on the reported management issues suggests that the ownership might not necessarily translate to a universally positive experience.
In conclusion, Foothills Campground near Dahlonega, GA, offers a mostly quiet and well-maintained environment that seems geared towards long-term RV residents. However, potential local users should be aware of significant concerns raised in the reviews regarding the management, including reports of rudeness, inconsistent behavior, and seemingly unfair enforcement of site maintenance rules. The discrepancy in advertised versus actual rent and the lack of on-site laundry facilities are also important drawbacks to consider. While it might serve as a long-term option for some, individuals should carefully weigh these reported issues and seek direct clarification from the campground management before making a decision. The negative initial contact reported by one prospective visitor further underscores the need for caution and thorough inquiry.

Foothills Campground Reviews
The wife called today about a spot for our camper. The lady she talked to was really rude. And from what I understand the property is owned by the church.Probably not a church that I want to attend either. I will take my money elsewhere
Oct 30, 2024 · sredneck1We lived there for over 2.5 years. It's mostly quiet and well maintained. There are good residents that have lived there for 12+ years and some that come and go. It is owned my the church next door and managed by Debra who is a volunteer through the church. It was good while it lasted but the reason I give this campground 2 stars is a reflection of how you are treated by Debra. She will usually drive through twice daily; morning around 9:30 and evening around 5:30. Some days she seems nice and other days not so much. We were inaproperatly yelled at and forced to leave after 2.5 years due to coming back from a week long vacation and not having our leaves blown and weeds sprayed in the gravel lot. We are a hard working married couple that does not drink or party (like others do in the campground) and we always payed our rent on time. Furthurmore, over our time there, we requested multiple times to move to a different lot with a deck as availability allowed but we were ignored. The rent is also $400 and not $350 as stated on the website. Washers and dryers are also not allowed under any circumstance so you will need to make friends with somone with them locally. If you are looking for a long term place to set up your Travel Trailer, and you are willing to hire weekly site maintenance and/or put up with Debra's speratic tantrums, then this might be the place for you.
Oct 18, 2022 · Justin JordanWebsite says campsites are $350 a month but I was told $400 when I called. I was also told that they don't allow campers 10 years and older because they are commonly run down. I have a 2011 that I just bought last year that is well maintained. Seems super biased. Some of the residents do have their own internet but Debra couldn't give me any insight in regards to it being mobile or windstream. Just thought potential renters might want to know this info since it's not posted on their website. Not sure if pets are allowed. Didn't get that far.
Oct 28, 2021 · Tiffany MWe were in the area and rode through the park to know about it for future visits. Small park, nice sites, but seems full of full-timers. But even the full-time sites were well maintained which is a stark contrast to other parks we've visited today. Would definitely stay here for a few days if a site was available.
Aug 15, 2021 · Randy RayQuiet, small and friendly folks. Sites are limited and mainly for long-term RVs. If a spot opens up, get it quick. You won't be disappointed if you want peace and quiet.
