This was my first time here. When I arrived I was greeted with a warm friendly smile. I said I would like to pan. I paid my $20 day pass fees and was shown around to the pay piles that they had set up around the area. I panned dirt from many piles and many places from each pile. Unfortunately I did not find one spec of gold during my 2.5 hrs there. Thinking back, I now know why the gentleman kept reiterating a friendly suggestion for me to head over and join the campers on the other side. I know think that he knew I would not find anything. I am an experienced panner and have panned fines as small as a tiny fraction of the size of the head of a pin. I really wanted to buy a lifetime membership as I will be visiting my relatives in Georgia more often and it is hard finding places to pan in Georgia. My take is that this place might be better suited for camping and fishing. - Timmy G
