Lincoln Pines Resort Introduce
For local residents in the Gowen, Michigan area and those searching for a nostalgic and family-oriented "camping near me" experience, Lincoln Pines Resort, located at 13033 19 Mile Rd NE, Gowen, MI 49326, USA, offers a lakeside setting with a long history for some visitors. While some online reviews might present a mixed picture, recent feedback provides valuable insights into the environment, services, and features of this campground, particularly for those considering it for family gatherings or a weekend retreat.
When considering "camping near me," the atmosphere and the availability of activities often play a significant role in the decision-making process. One reviewer, who has been visiting Lincoln Pines Resort since childhood and now owns a cottage there, strongly recommends it, urging potential guests to "not listen" to a perceived abundance of one-star reviews. This long-time visitor highlights the "understanding" management and the "extremely warm family atmosphere," emphasizing its suitability for family and friend gatherings. The nostalgia associated with the resort and the enjoyment of being on the water are presented as key draws for those seeking a familiar and welcoming "camping near me" destination.
Another reviewer, who stayed for a week at one of the water and electric (no sewer hookup) sites, provides a more detailed perspective on the environment. They describe the campground as "nicely wooded," which suggests a pleasant and shaded camping experience. A notable positive mentioned is the "very clean" bathroom, which appeared to be infrequently used by the seasonal campers, indicating well-maintained facilities for transient guests. The resort's lakeside location is also highlighted, with the reviewer noting that "the beach is very nice and the lake is warm," making it appealing for swimming and enjoying water activities. The friendly nature of other campers and the ease with which children can make friends contribute to the overall positive social environment.
However, this second reviewer also points out a significant variation in the campground's atmosphere depending on the day of the week. They observed that it is "very quiet Mon-Thurs" but becomes "very busy Fri & Sat—gets a bit Zooey on the weekends." This is important information for local users seeking "camping near me," as it suggests that the experience might differ significantly for those looking for a peaceful midweek escape versus a lively weekend gathering. The departure of many people on Sunday morning leads to a return to a quieter atmosphere.
In terms of services, the availability of water and electric hookups at some sites is mentioned. The presence of a camp store is also noted, although the reviewer had a negative experience with the fishing worms purchased there, describing them as "dead, rotting, and moldy." This suggests a potential inconsistency in the quality of goods offered at the store. The reviewer also mentions encountering only teenage female staff members who were "nice enough," but they could not comment on the management directly. This might be a point for potential guests to consider if direct interaction with management is important to them.
The features of Lincoln Pines Resort that emerge from these reviews include its lakeside location with a nice, warm beach, a wooded environment for the campsites, and a generally friendly and family-oriented atmosphere, particularly on weekends. The presence of seasonal campers suggests a sense of community and a well-established campground. The availability of water and electric hookups caters to RV campers, while the positive experience of the long-time visitor indicates its appeal for cottage owners and those seeking a nostalgic return. However, potential downsides to consider are the weekend crowds and the reported issue with the quality of goods at the camp store.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. For local users searching for "camping near me" and interested in Lincoln Pines Resort, it would be advisable to contact them directly at (616) 984-2100 or +1 616-984-2100 to inquire about availability, rates, and any current promotions or special offers. Their website or social media channels, if available, might also provide information on seasonal discounts or packages, especially for local residents looking for weekend getaways or longer stays. Given the resort's popularity for family gatherings, they might offer group rates or special amenities for such events.
In conclusion, Lincoln Pines Resort near Gowen, MI, offers a lakeside camping experience with a strong sense of community and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere, particularly cherished by long-time visitors. Its wooded campsites and nice, warm beach are appealing features for those searching for "camping near me" with opportunities for water-based recreation. However, potential guests should be aware of the significant increase in activity and crowds on weekends. While the bathroom facilities are reported as clean, there might be inconsistencies in the quality of goods at the camp store. For local campers considering Lincoln Pines Resort, contacting the management directly for the most up-to-date information on services, rates, and any available promotions is recommended to ensure it aligns with their preferences for a "camping near me" getaway.

Lincoln Pines Resort Reviews
Seeing a lot of 1 star reviews, don’t listen to them. I’m in my mid 20s and practically grew up here every summer. The managment is nothing but understanding. I have a lot of nostalgia coming here and being on the water with my cousins and friends. It’s a perfect place to have family and friend gatherings. Now, we own a few cottages here and come up frequently to have bonfires and play games. Extremely warm family atmosphere
Oct 27, 2024 · Jonathan “Jack” BlouinWriting from the perspective of a week long stay in one of the four water & electric (no sewer hookup) sites. The campground is nicely wooded. The bathroom is very clean and seems to be rarely used by the seasonal campers. It is very quiet Mon-Thurs, and very busy Fri & Sat—gets a bit Zooey on the weekends. Then a lot of people leave on Sunday morning again. The beach is very nice and the lake is warm. People are very friendly and my son made lots of friends. All the staff I encountered were teenage girls (who were nice enough), so I can’t comment on the management. The only downside was that the fishing worms we bought at the camp store were dead, rotting, and moldy.
Aug 05, 2019 · Mike BThis is a very well kept and clean park. We are full timers and we stayed for 1 week during July. Verizon has 3-4 bars with download speeds around 20 and upload around 10. The spot we were in had a wooden deck and although it was very nice, our MorRyde steps were too long as our spot/gravel pad was recessed about 6 inches below the deck. We had to remove our steps and use our accordion type steps that were factory mounted under the door. The other guests were pleasant and friendly. Pet owners: Be alert as on various occasions we were approached by unleashed dogs while walking our dogs and there are many unleashed pets on golf carts. Pro tip, give Charley's Ice Cream stand a try but don't be in a hurry.
Jul 27, 2020 · Chris CarlsonMy family have been camping at this resort for years. We always had the best of times, and made so many great memories. The people we met were even better. Unfortunately the past few years were horrible. Our family and closest friends were targeted to be pushed out, and eventually happened. The management doesn’t treat all seasonal campers the same. Very disrespectful management. Wouldnt recommend to anyone.
Sep 12, 2021 · ChelseyWe’ve been here since 2011 and absolutely love this place! The owners are amazing, the beach is awesome, plenty of fun activities to do, canoes to rent, and the sites are fantastic. We camp up in the woods on the hill and have no plans on leaving. If your looking for a seasonal campground, this is your place. They also have boat slips you can rent separately. Oh, and it is also a dog friendly park 👍🏻
