Snow Lake Kampground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Fenwick, Michigan area, Snow Lake Kampground, located at 644 E Snows Lake Rd, Fenwick, MI 48834, presents a destination with a range of amenities and activities, particularly geared towards families. However, recent reviews indicate a mixed experience, with some guests praising the facilities and activities, while others have raised concerns about service and cleanliness. Potential visitors should consider these varying perspectives when evaluating this campground for their "camping near me" needs.
The environment at Snow Lake Kampground centers around Snow Lake, offering opportunities for water-based activities such as kayaking and fishing, as mentioned by one long-term visitor who enjoyed kayaking around the lake and catching crappie. The campground also appears to be situated in a location conducive to outdoor recreation. In terms of accommodations, the campground offers cabin rentals, which one reviewer found "very nice and perfect for our small family get away." This suggests that for those seeking more structured lodging than traditional tent camping, the cabins at Snow Lake Kampground could be an appealing option within the "camping near me" category.
Snow Lake Kampground boasts a variety of features and activities that cater to different age groups. For children, the campground offers "lots of events" that one reviewer's son enjoyed, as well as a playground. A long-term guest highlighted "kids' activities on the weekend" as being "pretty cool." Additionally, the campground organizes family-oriented events like a "family hay ride" and a "teen hay ride" on Saturday nights, weather permitting. These activities suggest that Snow Lake Kampground aims to provide entertainment and engagement for families looking for a "camping near me" experience with organized fun.
Beyond the lake and planned activities, the campground offers several amenities aimed at enhancing the comfort and recreation of its guests. These include a pool, a hot tub, a sauna, and shuffleboard. These facilities provide additional options for relaxation and leisure during a camping stay. The presence of a pool and hot tub can be particularly attractive to families and individuals looking for "camping near me" with on-site recreational options beyond natural surroundings.
However, alongside these positive aspects, some significant concerns have been raised in recent reviews regarding the services and cleanliness at Snow Lake Kampground. One reviewer who stayed over Labor Day weekend reported a negative experience with the front desk staff, describing them as "not welcoming or kind." This lack of hospitality upon arrival can significantly impact a guest's overall impression of a campground. The same reviewer also expressed disappointment with a policy of "no visitors," which was particularly problematic as they were celebrating their toddler's birthday. This policy is something potential local users should be aware of if they plan on having guests during their stay.
Further concerns were raised about the cleanliness of the facilities. The pool was described as "very busy, cold, and seemed dirty," which could be a significant drawback for those hoping to enjoy swimming during their "camping near me" getaway. Additionally, the playground was reported to have had "puke in it from prior kids playing," raising serious sanitation concerns. These instances suggest that the campground may struggle with maintaining a consistently clean and hygienic environment.
The handling of a lost item also drew criticism. When a child on a tractor ride dropped his phone, the staff reportedly "refused to stop for him" and later made him ride his bike alone to retrieve it. This incident was perceived as "very disrespectful" and reflects poorly on the staff's empathy and customer service. Such experiences can deter families from returning to a campground when searching for future "camping near me" options.
Another point of contention was the availability of campsites for friends who wanted to join the first reviewer. Despite being told the campground was fully booked, three sites next to their cabin remained vacant throughout the weekend. This discrepancy suggests potential issues with booking management or a lack of transparency regarding site availability. Furthermore, the enforcement of pet policies appeared inconsistent, with the reviewer being told "no dogs at the cabins" while observing neighbors with dogs in their cabins.
The availability of food on-site also presented issues. A food truck was present for a day but was described as "VERY overpriced" and only accepted cash. The ATM at the store was reportedly out of order, leaving many campers unable to patronize the food truck. This lack of convenient payment options and the high prices could be a deterrent for those relying on on-site food vendors during their "camping near me" stay.
Despite these negative experiences, one long-term visitor who stayed for seven weeks during the summer had a positive experience overall, praising the kids' activities, hay rides, and the availability of amenities like the pool, hot tub, and sauna. This contrasting review highlights the potential for a positive stay, particularly for those who may become part of the regular community or who prioritize the available recreational facilities. However, it is essential for prospective short-term visitors to weigh these positive aspects against the more recent negative feedback regarding service and cleanliness.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. Local users interested in learning about rates, availability, or any special offers at Snow Lake Kampground should contact them directly at (989) 248-3224 or +1 989-248-3224. Given the mixed feedback, it would be advisable to inquire specifically about the campground's policies on visitors and pets in cabins, as well as their procedures for maintaining cleanliness and addressing guest concerns.
In conclusion, Snow Lake Kampground offers a lakeside setting in Fenwick, Michigan, with amenities such as cabin rentals, a pool, hot tub, kids' activities, and lake access. While one long-term visitor reported a positive summer experience, a more recent short-term stay highlighted significant concerns regarding unfriendly service, strict visitor policies, cleanliness issues with the pool and playground, and questionable handling of guest situations. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider these contrasting experiences and contact the campground directly to gather current information and assess whether it meets their needs and expectations.

Snow Lake Kampground Reviews
We stayed at Snows lake Kampground for Labor Day weekend. We rented a cabin. The cabin was very nice and was perfect for our small family get away. The service was not the greatest. The front desk ladies were not welcoming or kind. They do not allow visitors which was very disappointing as we were there celebrating our toddlers birthday. They had a food truck at the campground for the day but they were VERY overpriced and only took cash, the ATM at the store was out of order so a lot of campers couldn’t even try the truck. They did have lots of events that my son enjoyed. The pool was very busy, cold, and seemed dirty. We rode a tractor ride and a kid sitting next to us dropped his phone. The refused to stop for him and when we got back to camp they made him ride his bike to get it alone. They said “we don’t stop for anyone”. This seemed very disrespectful as the child was in tears. We had friends that wanted to camp with us but the office said they were booked up. The whole weekend three sites next to us were vacant and opened. We ended up leaving a day early. They also said no dogs at the cabins but get our neighbors had their dogs. The playground had puke in it from prior kids playing. Just seemed very unsanitary. My son enjoyed his birthday weekend but we wish some times went different. We will not visit the campground again.
Sep 14, 2024 · Ella ByingtonSnow Lake was a great campground! My wife booked us there for 7 weeks this summer. We utilized it throughout the week a few times, but mostly every weekend. The kids' activities on the weekend were pretty cool. They also do a family hay ride and a teen hay ride on Saturday night, weather permitting. Pool, hot tub, sauna, shuffleboard, just to name a few other things they have to offer, plus many more! Kayaked around Snow Lake when I could, did some fishing. Caught a couple nice crappie! All in all, it was a great summer. I hope to do it again next year!
Oct 08, 2024 · Doc C.We tent camped as a family for the 4th! We had an amazing time! So many planned activities for kids, a lake, pond, putt putt golf, shuffle board, and more! The kids and adults loved their Sunday church service as well. The camp does have a lot of rules but it creates a nice and safe environment for families. The camp was quiet and clean. This is a small little community with a quaint small town feel.We make snow lake an annual place for some family fun! Thanks again snow lake for hosting us! Can’t wait to see you all next year!
Jul 07, 2024 · Jessica BIn short, Snow Lake Kampground is a self contained, all ages vacation spot. Great family atmosphere. Loads of fun things to play on, lots of scheduled activities and theme weekends and a chapel building for a weekly non-denominational Sunday worship service to enjoy. They have a "Western town" play area complete with general store, church, saloon, bank and jail, kiddie pool, regular pool, sauna, mini golf, shuffle board, duck derby, water balloon launchers, horse shoes, beech volleyball, fishing pond, playground, sandbox, camp store, laundry facilities just to name a few things. Seasonal, monthly and daily rates available. Sites are all full hookup. Don't have an RV? No worries, they have rentals too.
Jun 25, 2024 · Eric ProseusJust got home from our first time at Snow Lake and will not go back!! First the lots are tiny, you are on top of your neighbor!!! We did pull thru lots and all though the trees are nice it makes it very difficult to put your awning out/slides out if not in a pop up because the lot size is so small. However the absolute worst part was the two women in the front office. My husband got there first and checked in and one apparently didn’t like the looks of him and said you cannot walk around the campground with alcohol it has to stay on your lot (that was the only rule she told him). I understand if someone is being disorderly but you seriously cannot walk around the park with a drink?! The last night we were there our son and our friends son (who were on a lot next to us) went to get the 6 person bike and they said you need an adult so one of the boys came to get me and she rented it out right in front of my son as he was holding the money out to her and the other was grabbing me (maybe 2 mins), they were obviously upset being they were there first and it is first come first serve. We went back to our lots and my husband took them to rent 3 kayaks instead and one of the ladies rolled her eyes at him! They also acted highly annoyed the two separate days we took 5 kids in there to get ice cream. We also had to pay for wifi (husbands wanted to watch the football game) and when I was having trouble getting it to work one basically thru a flyer at me and said call sky web. Another camper came in when we were in there asking if they knew rules to shuffle board (because there is zero service to google it) and they were rude and said nope and turned their heads. Luckily I was able to help. They claim to be a Christian park but are clearly less than friendly and beyond rude. They may have “things” for kids to do i.e old mini golf, shuffle board, water balloon fight area etc. But the rude “staff” they have checking the pool area and working the office are so off putting both families agree we would never recommend this place and we will never come back. Sad because it could be a nice place to go.
