Link Creek Campground Introduce
For those searching for 'camping near me' in the scenic Sisters, Oregon area, Link Creek Campground, located by a lake at Sisters, OR 97759, USA, offers a blend of traditional campsites and unique yurt rentals. You can reach them at (541) 338-7869 or their mobile number +1 541-338-7869 for inquiries and reservations, which, as noted by a visitor, are highly recommended due to the campground often being fully booked. Situated near Suttle Lake, Link Creek Campground provides a base for enjoying the natural beauty of Central Oregon, although potential visitors should be aware of certain aspects highlighted in recent reviews.
The environment surrounding Link Creek Campground is characterized by its proximity to a lake, which is appreciated by visitors for its scenic value and fishing opportunities. The campground is located in the vicinity of Suttle Lake, a popular recreational area in the Deschutes National Forest. While the lake is considered good for fishing, it is explicitly mentioned by a reviewer as not being clean enough for swimming. The campsites are noted to be "pretty close to each other," suggesting a more communal camping experience where privacy between sites might be limited. One reviewer staying in a yurt during the off-season mentioned that the campground picks up road noise from Highway 20, with occasional air-braking semi-trucks being bothersome. Despite this, the overall environment is likely one of natural beauty, with the lake as a central feature and the surrounding forests typical of Central Oregon providing a backdrop of pine trees and fresh air. The proximity to The Suttle Lodge, offering food and drinks, is also a notable environmental and convenience factor for campers.
The services at Link Creek Campground appear to be somewhat basic, focusing on essential camping needs. A significant point is the lack of water hookups at the campsites, with "vault toilets only" being available for restroom facilities. This means campers need to bring their own water supply for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. For those staying in yurts, the experience seems to offer a bit more comfort than traditional tent camping. However, the review from a yurt guest indicates that while the yurts are "nice and cozy," the close proximity of sites remains a factor. The mention of a camp host suggests that there is on-site management, although one reviewer felt the host could be more proactive in certain areas, such as ensuring the cleanliness of the yurts upon arrival (specifically regarding ashes in the wood stove) and maintaining the dumpster area, which was described as having trash and chairs lying around. The availability of boat rentals at nearby Suttle Lake is a significant service for those interested in exploring the lake. It's important for potential visitors to be aware of the limited services within the campground itself and to come prepared with necessary supplies.
The features of Link Creek Campground include its lakeside location, providing opportunities for fishing and enjoying the waterfront. The availability of yurt rentals offers a unique camping experience, providing a sturdy, tent-like structure with more space and often a wood stove for heating, making it suitable for shoulder-season camping as well. The yurts are described as "nice and cozy," with one reviewer noting the wood stove as a "nice addition." However, the specific features of the yurts can vary, as highlighted by a reviewer who stayed in Yurt #31 which had a Jotul wood stove. While generally nice, the stove in their yurt had modifications (a metal plate replacing the glass with gaps) and a faulty door seal, affecting its efficiency. The lack of provided utensils for cleaning out the wood stove and the presence of hot ashes upon arrival were also noted. The proximity to The Suttle Lodge is a significant feature, offering easy access to dining and beverages without leaving the general area. However, the close spacing of campsites, both for traditional tent/RV sites and yurts, might be a drawback for those seeking more privacy. The dumpster area's poor condition, with trash scattered around, is another feature that could detract from the overall camping experience.
Promotional information for Link Creek Campground is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the popularity of the campground, as indicated by the need for advance reservations due to it being "usually fully booked," suggests that its location and amenities are generally appealing to campers. The availability of yurt rentals, particularly for year-round use (as mentioned for the off-season), could be considered a promotional aspect, catering to those seeking a more comfortable camping option. The proximity to Suttle Lake and The Suttle Lodge are also indirect promotional points, highlighting the convenience and recreational opportunities of the area. To find out about specific rates for campsites and yurt rentals, seasonal availability, and any potential discounts or special offers, interested individuals should contact the provided phone numbers ((541) 338-7869 or +1 541-338-7869) or visit the website of the Deschutes National Forest or relevant booking platforms. Given the popularity, booking well in advance is likely the best way to secure a spot, especially during peak season.
In conclusion, Link Creek Campground near Sisters, Oregon, offers a lakeside camping experience with the unique option of yurt rentals. Its environment by Suttle Lake is scenic and offers fishing opportunities, although swimming in the lake is not recommended. While the yurts are cozy and the proximity to The Suttle Lodge is convenient, potential visitors should be aware that campsites and yurts are closely spaced, and the campground has basic services with no water hookups and vault toilets. Recent reviews also point out areas for potential improvement in maintenance, such as yurt cleanliness and the dumpster area. Despite these considerations, the campground's popularity suggests it remains a desirable 'camping near me' option, particularly for those who book in advance and come prepared for a more rustic experience. For yurt rentals, especially during the off-season, it's advisable to inquire about the specific condition and features of the yurt being booked. Contacting the campground directly for the most up-to-date information on reservations, rates, and any current guidelines is highly recommended.

Link Creek Campground Reviews
Nice campground by lake. Sites are pretty close to each other. No water, vault toilets only. Lake is good for fishing, but not clean enough for swimming. Be sure you make a reservation ahead, as it's usually fully booked. We stayed at yurt, which was nice and cozy, but again, sites are really too close to each other.
Jul 16, 2021 · Darya ShestakovaStayed in Yurt #31 during the off season (only yurts are open year-round). Campground picks up road noise from Hwy 20, but only the occasional air-breaking semi was bothersome. Nice having The Suttle Lodge nearby for food & drinks. We really liked the Yurt, and the wood stoves are a nice addition. First night was pretty cold due to very strong winds, but second night we actually got the yurt too warm. Our yurt had a Jotul stove, and it happens to be the exact same model we have in our home. They are nice (though small - large pieces of wood don't fit), but the one in our yurt had been modified; the glass had been replaced with a metal plate, but the plate left significant gaps. This, combined with the door rope/seal needing replacing, led to a stove that didn't close down as well as it could have. We also arrived to find the stove still had ashes in it, and there was not metal bucket or scoop to clean it out. Upon trying to do so, we discovered the ashes in the stove were also still hot. Would've been nice for the camp host to take care of this ahead of time, especially if they aren't going to provide utensils to allow guests to do so themselves. One other criticism would be the dumpster area. There were like six dumpsters, but they had chairs and all kinds of trash lying around them. Again, camp host could be a little more proactive IMO.
Apr 01, 2018 · Kevin HillWonderful camping sites, some with lake views. Fishing, boating and hiking are some of the activities families can enjoy. Short distance to gorgeous Suttle Lake Resort Lodge. Great food and Beverages.
Feb 27, 2020 · Debra KowalskiGorgeous setting. Clean sites and facilities. There's a small hiking/single track path around the lake. Boat ramp and fish cleaning station too. Firewood can be purchased they the camp host (who's quite friendly) for $6. Mosquitos were present but not bad when I visited. Looking forwards to staying again!
May 31, 2018 · Mike NWe have family in Sisters, but we decided we'd do a little one night of camping while we visited. Link Creek was great! Host was friendly, fellow campers were friendly, and we enjoyed our stay. Annoying amount of mosquitos but can't really be controlled so we managed just fine. Boat dock nearby, fun for the kids to jump in and swim in the evening. We'll stay again!
