The park's tranquility and serenity are repeatedly emphasized, making it an ideal escape for those seeking a peaceful retreat from the stresses of daily life.
For those interested in camping, Little Buffalo State Park offers a campground with both paved sites and, notably, four secluded and "absolutely beautiful" walk-up tent sites. This variety caters to different camping preferences, whether you prefer the convenience of parking your vehicle at your site or the immersive experience of a more remote tent camping location. One reviewer who stayed at site 43, a paved site, noted its size but mentioned limited privacy from an adjacent site and a lack of afternoon shade during the summer heat, suggesting that site selection might be a consideration for future visits during warmer months. However, the cleanliness of the campground was positively highlighted.
The facilities at the campground include a bathhouse that was reported to be clean and appeared to have been renovated, indicating a commitment to providing well-maintained amenities for campers. In addition to the campground, the park also features a "modern lodge," which one reviewer described as "beautiful," "peaceful," and "relaxing." This provides an alternative accommodation option for those who prefer a more structured lodging experience while still enjoying the park's natural surroundings. The availability of both campground and lodge accommodations makes Little Buffalo State Park a versatile destination for various types of visitors.

The presence of a lake opens up opportunities for water-based activities, although specific details about boating or fishing regulations are not provided in the reviews. A separate boat/kayak launch area with picnic tables suggests that these activities are indeed popular and well-facilitated within the park. The inclusion of a swimming pool offers a refreshing option for recreation, particularly during the summer months. The numerous hiking trails cater to different fitness levels and interests, allowing visitors to explore the park's diverse terrain and scenic vistas.
The park is also well-equipped for leisurely enjoyment, with "so many places to sit" and numerous picnic areas located along the lake. This makes it easy for visitors to find a comfortable spot to relax, have a meal outdoors, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views. The shallow creeks mentioned provide a safe and enjoyable area for wading, which can be particularly appealing to families with young children.
The positive experiences of visitors are further underscored by the praise for the park ranger and all the staff, who are described as "top notch." This indicates a welcoming and helpful service environment, which can significantly contribute to a positive overall experience for park visitors. Little Buffalo State Park Recreation Hall Reviews
Nature Lover's Paradise! We visited Little Buffalo state park this past weekend. We stayed in the campground, site 43. It's big but does provide much privacy from site 42. It's a paved site. There was shade in the morning but rest of the day was too sunny for summer heat. We would opt for a different site when visiting the park again. The bathhouse was clean and appeared to have been renovated. The campground was clean. If you are a tent camper, this park has 4 walk up sites that are secluded and absolutely beautiful. The park has a lake, swimming pool and many hiking trails. There are shallow creeks for wading. There are so many places to sit. Many picnic areas along the lake. There is separate boat/kayak launch area which has picnic tables. This park is simply peaceful, serene and has amazing views. We loved our visit and looking forward to visiting again in fall.

Oct 31, 2024 · Abreana FergusonThis is our second year coming to this small campground. What the campground lacks is made up with trails, lake and swimming pool. You will see some wildlife. The ones you don't see will leave evidence of their visit.I highly recommend Base Camp Outfitters in Newport for your fishing gear
Jun 04, 2023 · Kevin WenrickWe did modern camping in a beautiful "unique house" that we stayed at over the Thanksgiving holiday. Very comfortable, roomy, for large family. . If needed, grocery stores and restaurants within 10-15 minute drive. We enjoyed our holiday meal in their big kitchy, had a campfire outside, s'mores included. :-) Great place to spend time with friends and family
