Log Gulch Campground - U.S. Bureau of Land Management Introduce
For those in Montana and searching for "camping near me," Log Gulch Campground, managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and located in Wolf Creek, MT 59648, USA, presents an appealing option, particularly for those who enjoy lake access and a well-maintained camping environment. Based on the available customer reviews, this campground offers a blend of clean facilities, a beautiful setting, and opportunities for various recreational activities, making it a popular choice for campers in the region.
The environment of Log Gulch Campground is highly regarded, with one reviewer describing it as a "Great little campground!" The presence of tent sites located "in a holler past the RV area" suggests a designated space for tent campers seeking a more traditional and perhaps quieter experience away from RV traffic. The campground's key feature appears to be its access to a lake, evidenced by the mention of a "Beautiful boat launch and sturdy docks/slips." This indicates that the campground is well-suited for those interested in boating, whether for leisurely cruises, fishing, or accessing other parts of the lake. The overall setting in Wolf Creek, Montana, implies a natural environment with potentially scenic views and access to the surrounding landscapes.
In terms of services and features, Log Gulch Campground seems to prioritize cleanliness and functionality. Reviewers consistently mention "very clean facilities and sites" and that the staff "keep the place tidy." This attention to cleanliness is a significant positive for any campground, contributing to a more enjoyable and comfortable stay for all visitors. The presence of a "beautiful boat launch and sturdy docks/slips" is a notable feature for those planning to bring boats or engage in water-based activities. The availability of a new card tap reservation system suggests that the campground is modernizing its processes for ease of use, and the campground host is commended for being "very pleasant and patient" in assisting campers with this new system.
One reviewer notes the presence of a beach area, although it tends to be "pretty popular" and often has people. This indicates that the lake is a significant draw for swimming and other lakeside relaxation. The popularity of the campground is further emphasized by the observations that "most of the campsites were filled" and "the day sites were full," suggesting that Log Gulch Campground is a sought-after destination, especially during the summer months and potentially on weekends.
Fishing appears to be another popular activity at Log Gulch Campground, with one reviewer mentioning, "We caught lots of fish." This suggests that the lake associated with the campground is well-stocked or provides a favorable habitat for fishing. The fact that the reviewer felt that "no one really bothered us" implies a generally respectful and peaceful atmosphere among the campers, despite its popularity.
However, one reviewer does mention a potential drawback: "The road in is sketchy, small dirt road with blind corners." This is important information for prospective visitors, particularly those driving larger RVs or towing trailers. Caution and slower speeds would likely be necessary when navigating this access road. It might also be worth inquiring with the BLM or checking online resources for the road conditions prior to traveling, especially after periods of rain or other adverse weather.
Another minor concern raised is that "the bathrooms were a little nicer" would be preferred. While the overall cleanliness is praised, the facilities themselves might be somewhat basic or older. However, the reviewer still concludes with "I would go again tho," indicating that the positive aspects of the campground outweigh this minor inconvenience.
As Log Gulch Campground is managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, information regarding fees, reservations, and specific regulations is likely available through the official BLM website or the recreation.gov platform. These resources would provide details on campsite types (tent, RV, group), amenities at each site (e.g., fire rings, picnic tables), any length-of-stay limits, and the process for booking a campsite. Given the campground's popularity, especially during peak season, making reservations well in advance is highly recommended.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the positive feedback and the mention of a new card tap reservation system could be seen as indirect endorsements. The fact that campers are eager to return ("All in all this is a 10/10!!" and "We will probably go back next year") speaks volumes about the positive experiences at Log Gulch Campground.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Wolf Creek, Montana area, Log Gulch Campground offers several appealing features:
- **Clean and Well-Maintained Facilities:** Enjoy tidy campsites and restrooms.
- **Beautiful Lake Access:** Benefit from a convenient boat launch and sturdy docks for boating and lake activities.
- **Fishing Opportunities:** The lake is reportedly good for fishing.
- **Tent and RV Areas:** Designated tent sites offer a quieter experience.
- **Pleasant Campground Hosts:** Expect helpful and patient staff.
- **Scenic Environment:** Located in Wolf Creek, Montana, likely offering beautiful natural surroundings.
- **Modern Reservation System:** The new card tap system aims to streamline the reservation process.
However, be aware of the potential drawbacks:
- **Sketchy Access Road:** The road leading to the campground is described as small and dirt with blind corners, requiring careful driving.
- **Popular Location:** Expect the campground and lake areas to be busy, especially during peak season and weekends. Reservations are essential.
- **Potentially Basic Bathrooms:** While clean, the bathroom facilities might not be the most modern.
To plan your camping trip to Log Gulch Campground, it is recommended to visit the official BLM website or recreation.gov to check for availability, make reservations, and gather more detailed information about the campground's amenities and regulations. Be sure to also note the condition of the access road when planning your travel. Despite a couple of minor concerns, the overwhelmingly positive feedback suggests that Log Gulch Campground is a worthwhile destination for those seeking a lakeside camping experience in a beautiful and well-kept setting in Montana.

Great little campground! We stayed in the tent sites in a holler past the RV area. Very clean facilities and sites. Beautiful boat launch and sturdy docks/slips. The campground hoast was very pleasant and patient with us regarding the new card tap reservation system. All in all this is a 10/10!! Picture is not my dog, but a very good girl helping her humans to the boat!
Sep 13, 2024 · Andrea IlligWe went camping here for a couple of days during the summer. The staff are really nice and keep the place tidy. It's a pretty popular place, the beach usually had people, most of the campsites were filled, the day sites were full, docks were full. We caught lots of fish, and no one really bothered us. The road in is sketchy, small dirt road with blind corners. I wish the bathrooms were a little nicer. I would go again tho.
Aug 05, 2023 · ChristineQuiet camping spots, spaced out nicely and away from the noisy beach/boating areas. Now my favorite place to camp.
Aug 01, 2023 · Cody AndersonSo fun for granddaughter. Relaxing on the lake. Beautiful view from camper site..just enough excitement to keep it interesting. Great Fun🌄🏞🐟👍
Sep 13, 2020 · Viki SchabarkerWe are tent campers, but reserved a spot in the general campground. the site was not level, gravelly, windy and just not welcoming. So we tried the tent only campground down the road, but it had no water. Back to the first campground. We eventually chose a site lower down that was almost level and had one pine tree to keep us dry-it rained that night. We never saw a camp host and our original site was not labeled as being reserved. We had planned on staying two nights, but left in the morning. Do not tent camp here!
