Adding to the convenience and unique charm of Lone Oak Campsites is the availability of golf cart rentals. According to a reviewer, the campground is quite expansive, and renting a golf cart is a highly recommended mode of transportation within the grounds. This allows campers to easily navigate the facilities, visit different areas of the campground, and enhance their overall experience. The reviewer also wisely suggests avoiding driving personal vehicles around the campground at night due to the pedestrian traffic, further highlighting the benefit of golf cart rentals.
The staff at Lone Oak Campsites consistently receive positive feedback for their friendly and accommodating service. For just $0.25, campers can enjoy an 8-minute shower, which one reviewer surprisingly found to be ample time. This thoughtful provision ensures that campers can stay clean and refreshed during their stay. Furthermore, recognizing that campers may occasionally forget essential items, Lone Oak features an on-site store. This welcoming environment can enhance the social aspect of camping, making it a more enjoyable experience for those who appreciate interacting with fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
The campsites themselves are reported to be spacious, with one reviewer specifically recommending sites 615 and 616. Generous site sizes are always a plus for campers, providing more room for tents, RVs, and outdoor gear, as well as offering greater privacy and comfort.
While the vast majority of feedback is positive, one reviewer did mention two areas for potential improvement. Firstly, they noted that the initial interaction with the young staff member at check-in was not as welcoming as they had experienced at other campgrounds. While not explicitly rude, the lack of warmth in the greeting was a minor point of dissatisfaction. Secondly, the reviewer pointed out that for a campground as large as Lone Oak, the availability of only five rental golf carts seemed insufficient, especially considering their usefulness for navigating the grounds. Addressing these minor points could further enhance the overall guest experience.
Despite these minor critiques, the overwhelming sentiment from reviews indicates that Lone Oak Campsites offers a fantastic camping experience. The combination of diverse accommodation options, abundant recreational facilities including pools, a hot tub, and a lake, planned activities for all ages, the convenience of an on-site store, and the beautiful, well-maintained environment make it a compelling choice for anyone searching for "camping near me" in the Canaan, CT area.

Lone Oak Campsites Reviews
Lone oak campsites reminded me of the movie Dirty Dancing. The campsite offers RV, tent sites, and cabin rentals. Once the sun comes out there are planned activities for all ages throughout the campsite. Two pools, a hot tub and a lake offers plenty of space for outdoor swimming. The weekend we attended was Hawaii theme. They even offer golf cart rental to use as a means of transportation while camping. The staff at the campsite were very nice and accommodating. If you want to take a shower for just .25 cent you can take a shower for 8 mins which doesn’t seem like enough time but it was plenty of time. If you forget something you need for camping there is a store on grounds that offers almost everything you need for a great price. I absolutely loved going and plan on booking next summer.
Jul 23, 2024 · Neyla JonesYou can not get much better scenery for a campground. It is very clean and very well kept. Seasonals definitely like to have a good time, but they were awesome and very welcoming. Sites were huge (we stayed on 615 and 616...highly recommend them). Even though we don't take advantage of the activities usually (we like to relax and have a cocktail) there seemed like there was always something family orientated going on. The only 2 things that made it not a 5 star for me was. 1) The young girl in the office at check in was not very friendly. She was not rude either, but she just didn't make you feel welcome like most other campgrounds. 2) For as huge as the place is they should have more than 5 rental golf carts. It really is the only way to get around. At night you don't want to drive your truck around because there are just to many people.
Sep 29, 2020 · Terry WatsonI went today and enjoyed everything was there. Pool was great and clean jacuzzi was amazing almost fell asleep. The camp site a bit small but still great. Electricity and water at camp site. Bathroom clean and smell good. The pond was the downer should be a bit nicer. I also enjoy sitting at the little river. Please pick up after your self stop leaving bottle at the river stream. Staff were friend and helpful. I also has ice cream and milk shake very good and price very convenient. Also had a little incident a lady was a little racist againt us being latino but what ever it will alway happen remember everyone is equal come on people but we know we better then that . The store had everything you need also sell wood awesome. Security alway driving around and seeing if everything is good. Everything is a couple of min apart love it. The playground was really good for kides so far this is the best camp site in Connecticut recommend it to everyone. They do activity at the pool check it out. The showers are 25 cent for 8 min not bad at all. If ypu friend or family rent the site it is 12 dollar per person that goes. I think after 3 there no one there to charge. The Reviewer 85
Jul 29, 2019 · The Reviewer 85We stayed here for 8 days on site 20.Our site was very level and a decent size. We had trees behind us and plenty of space between us and the site next to us. The only draw back on this site was we had a path/walkway next to us that had alot of foot traffic. We do not camp with kids, but this place has alot of activities for kids and I would recommend it if you are looking for family friendly.Staff was friendly, decent store and some nice hiking trails. What we didn't like, and this was because of the people staying there, was there are tons of barking dogs. We have three, we do not allow them to bark. I don't understand how someone doesn't hear there dog barking for hours. Alot of loose dogs and one person had their dog locked in their truck all day for three days and it barked non stop.People just walked across our sites, right between fire pit and picnic table. This was constant. This was at no fault to the campground, it is simple camper etiquette.Campground is close to store if you need to shop.Reason we gave it 3 stars was sadly the dogs barking and rude transient campers.I would recommend bringing bikes or golf cart, as it's a very large campground.
Aug 07, 2021 · The Bates Motel RVUpscale RV resort with lots of great amenities and activities. We realized our camp site was right next to the main section, so it was noisy and not too private However, just over the hills in either direction from the main buildings the camp became peaceful. The pool was super busy with lots of kids on the 2 weekend days. Since they have 2 pools they may want to consider a pool for kids and a pool for adults. The camp store has all the essentials and the staff was courteous all around. They are a busy campground, so plan ahead to reserve your site.
