Based on feedback from fellow campers, Long Lake Campsite & RV boasts a kind and accommodating host, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. The campground features access to the pretty Long Lake, complete with a dock that allows for easy launching of kayaks. This makes it an ideal spot for those who enjoy spending time on the water. The presence of a small store on-site adds convenience, allowing campers to purchase essential items without having to leave the grounds. Furthermore, the availability of bathrooms with showers contributes to a more comfortable camping experience.
For those concerned about connectivity, one reviewer noted that the Wi-Fi was "amazing" during a weekday stay when the campground was less crowded. This could be a significant advantage for those who need to stay connected or simply enjoy having internet access during their camping trip.
However, it's important to consider all aspects based on the provided reviews. One camper mentioned an issue regarding the campground's policy on barking dogs, stating that multiple families had to leave due to their dogs barking, allegedly provoked by teenagers walking around late at night. This reviewer expressed a desire for a more lenient approach to barking. Another camper echoed the sentiment about dogs, specifically wishing they could participate more directly in lake activities.
It appears that while the campground is generally dog-friendly in terms of allowing them on the premises, there are expectations regarding noise levels. Potential visitors with dogs should be mindful of this policy to ensure a pleasant stay for everyone.
In terms of the physical layout, one review mentioned that there were only a few spots available for short-term camping, and these were located close to each other. This suggests that during busier times, the short-term camping area might feel somewhat compact. The reviewer also noted the presence of "permanent" residents who primarily visit on weekends and were described as kind and welcoming. This indicates a community feel within the campground.
To summarize the environment, Long Lake Campsite & RV offers a picturesque setting by Long Lake, providing opportunities for water activities like kayaking. The presence of mature trees and the lake itself contribute to a natural and relaxing ambiance. While specific details about the size of the campsites or the overall layout are limited in the provided information, the mention of a dock and the beauty of the lake suggest a focus on enjoying the waterfront.
Regarding services, the campground provides essential amenities such as bathrooms with showers and a small store for basic necessities. The accommodating nature of the host is also a notable service that enhances the overall experience. The availability of Wi-Fi, at least during less crowded times, is an added benefit for those who need or want to stay connected.
Key features of Long Lake Campsite & RV include its lakeside location on Long Lake, the kayak launch via the dock, the on-site store, and the bathroom facilities with showers. The welcoming nature of the host and the sense of community, particularly among the regular visitors, also stand out as positive features.
As for promotional information, while no specific promotions were mentioned in the provided text, the very fact that it offers a camping and RV experience near Detroit Lakes with lake access and amenities like a store and showers makes it an attractive option for local users seeking a convenient outdoor getaway. The potential for peaceful weekdays, as highlighted by the good Wi-Fi experience during a less crowded time, could also be a draw for those looking for a quieter escape.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Long Lake Campsite & RV presents itself as a viable option. It offers a blend of natural beauty with the lake, essential services for comfort, and a generally welcoming atmosphere. However, potential visitors, especially those with dogs, should be aware of the campground's expectations regarding noise. Similarly, those seeking more secluded short-term camping spots might want to inquire about availability and the layout of the sites.
In conclusion, Long Lake Campsite & RV provides a lakeside camping and RV experience in Detroit Lakes, MN. It features a kind host, access to Long Lake for kayaking, on-site amenities like a store and showers, and generally good Wi-Fi. While there are considerations regarding dog barking policies and the proximity of short-term campsites, it offers a convenient and potentially relaxing "camping near me" option for local residents looking to enjoy the outdoors.

Long Lake Campsite & RV Reviews
as for dog friendly sure if your dog doesn't bark, 3 families had to leave the park because of their dogs barking because of teenagers walking around between 2 to 430am, I was warned but I brought my dog inside the tent, the teenagers were teasing the dogs 🐕 but they didn't care about the teenagers. Will not go camping unless they loosen the barking rules, dogs bark deal with it.
Jun 22, 2024 · jeff torrollHost was a kind and accommodating gentleman. Only a few spots available for short term camping that were a few feet from each other. The “permanent” residents (visit mostly on the weekends) were kind and welcoming. We were there during the week so there was hardly anyone there and the Wifi was amazing.Bathrooms had showers and there was even a little store to buy a few items.Lake was pretty and there was a dock to launch your kayak. Only wish dogs could join in the fun!
Jun 24, 2022 · Mandy GordonWe felt the best part was the beach. Sandy and not weedy in the swim area. The playground park was okay but we wished it had more things for the kids. The camping spots are close together and narrow but very long making parking easy. The public showers/bathrooms weren’t clean and the lady at the desk wasn’t pleasant at check in. The campground is in a great location and easy to access from highway 10. Overall we had a good time and spent a lot of our time at the beach.
Aug 18, 2019 · Stephanie AllenGreat location, lovely beach. A wonderful option if you want to be in Detroit Lakes with easy access to the fun things to do in town, without being in the heart of loud, crazy tourist central. This place is 45 some years old and it shows. It's well loved, the seasonal site owners passionately love this place and are all like a giant family. It could use some updates, especially the bathrooms. The streets are pretty narrow and should be made one-ways. The lady who owns the place comes across as pretty grumpy and rude, but she's just old. The son who helps out is very helpful. They're obviously doing fine as they're booked nearly every weekend, but I'd happily pay a bit more for cleaner showers.
Jul 25, 2018 · Samantha Bishop-StrandLove this place. Plenty of shade, and a very nice sandy beach on a beautiful, swimmable lake with great bass fishing. Gretchen, Calvin and the Wold family have been operating this campground since 1972, and they take great pride in providing a great experience for campers. Lots are mostly seasonal but there are available spaces for weekenders, too. Lots that are close to the lake do NOT have sewer service, but they pump out those trailers weekly or as needed. Friendly, not stuffy or pretentious. Great place to unwind, relax, and to enjoy lake living.
