Long Ravine Campground Introduce
For outdoor enthusiasts and families searching for "Camping Near Me" in Northern California, Long Ravine Campground at 26909 Rollins Lake Rd, Colfax, CA 95713, USA, stands out as a highly recommended destination. Nestled along the beautiful Rollins Lake, this campground offers a rich array of activities and amenities designed to create memorable camping experiences. From exhilarating water sports to the simple joys of nature, Long Ravine provides a quintessential outdoor escape, balancing rustic charm with essential comforts.
The environment at Long Ravine Campground is dominated by the stunning presence of Rollins Lake, which is consistently praised for being "really nice for swimming." The lake offers crystal-clear waters perfect for a refreshing dip on a warm day, with specific areas like the spot near the Cajun restaurant providing an excellent setting for setting up and enjoying the water. For the adventurous, there's even a "good tree stump for jumping off into the water," adding an element of thrill to the lakeside experience. This direct access to a swimmable lake is a major draw for families and individuals looking to cool off and play during their camping trip.
The natural surroundings of Long Ravine are picturesque, offering a genuine immersion into nature. Campers are enveloped by trees, providing shade and a sense of seclusion, even within a bustling campground. However, visitors should be aware of the prevalence of poison oak, which is noted to be "everywhere," necessitating careful navigation and preparation. The terrain around the lake can be rocky, with "sharp rocks by the shore," making water shoes a "definite" recommendation for comfortable access to the water. Despite these minor considerations, the overall consensus is that the natural beauty and opportunities for "enjoying nature" are unparalleled, evoking a sense of childhood wonder for many visitors. This blend of accessible lake activities and a genuine natural setting makes Long Ravine a compelling choice for those searching for "Camping Near Me" who prioritize an authentic outdoor experience.
Long Ravine Campground thoughtfully provides essential services that enhance the camping experience, ensuring comfort without detracting from the outdoor adventure. A significant convenience noted by campers is the availability of "flushing toilets and a shower with hot water." These amenities are a welcome luxury in a campground setting, providing a much-appreciated level of hygiene and comfort for all visitors. Clean and accessible restroom facilities are a crucial aspect of a positive camping trip, and Long Ravine delivers on this front.
Beyond the basic facilities, the campground also offers convenient rental services. Visitors can easily rent watercraft, such as kayaks, directly from the campground, as highlighted by a reviewer who found the kayak rental "convenient." This eliminates the need for campers to transport their own equipment, making spontaneous lake activities readily available. While the store's stocking levels were mentioned as a minor area for improvement ("I only wish the store was a little more stocked"), the presence of Magie's store/food area, open from "11am-4pm," provides some on-site access to necessities and refreshments. The availability of a day pass for $17 per car also makes the lake accessible for non-campers seeking a day of recreation. These services collectively contribute to a hassle-free and enjoyable stay, making Long Ravine a well-equipped option for "Camping Near Me" searches.
Long Ravine Campground offers a variety of campsites, each with its own unique characteristics. Site selection is important, and one reviewer enthusiastically declared site 18 to be "really the best site in my opinion," citing its proximity "Right by the trail" and "lots of room," in contrast to other sites located "on hills." This suggests that campers have options to choose sites that best suit their preferences for space, accessibility, and terrain. The availability of diverse sites caters to different camping styles, from those seeking easy access to trails to those preferring more secluded spots.
The recreational features of Long Ravine are plentiful and cater to both active adventurers and those seeking relaxation. The lake itself is the central hub of activity, offering swimming, kayaking, and tubing. An "intertube is great fun for adults and kids," and the recommendation to "bring life jackets for kids who can't swim" underscores the emphasis on safety in water activities. The presence of a side (presumably a slide for water access or play) adds another element of fun for families. Beyond the water, the natural setting encourages exploration and connection with nature, making it an ideal spot for hiking or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings. For those searching "Camping Near Me" with an emphasis on diverse activities and a genuine connection to the outdoors, Long Ravine's features are highly appealing.
The most compelling promotional information for Long Ravine Campground comes directly from the enthusiastic endorsements of its past visitors. Phrases like "The Best place I've been as far as 'enjoying nature' since my childhood" and "I will definitely come back" are powerful indicators of guest satisfaction and loyalty. This strong word-of-mouth promotion highlights the truly positive and memorable experiences people have at the campground, making it a highly desirable option for anyone searching "Camping Near Me."

Jul 10, 2023 · Taylor TavaresThe Best place I've been as far as "enjoying nature" since my childhood. I will definitely come back, the rocks are sharp by the shore, so you definitely should bring water shoes, but other than that another good recommendation is a intertube is great fun for adults and kids and bring life jackets for kids who can't swim., There is also about 3-4 tables up by Magie's store/food or something I believe that area is open from 11am-4pm....$17 bucks a car to have a day pass,...
Jul 18, 2023 · Lori CanalesAlways have a great time here. This year we got yelled at by a very unprofessional employee. We were parked by the waters edge and he came driving quickly down the ramp and yelled "do you people not have any common sense?" He then proceeded to accuse us of not paying for a day use pass. Asked again if we had any common sense and then took photos of the vehicles and sped back up the ramp, never explaining the risk or reason why we weren't allowed to be there. We have 4 camp sites and all vehicles have the yellow pass given upon check in the day prior. This morning he pulled up to our campsite and asked "are you guys camping here?" The 3 Tents and 3 rv's weren't enough of a clue aside from our 5 day paid reservation months ago? Very strange interaction with this person. Not very friendly and certainly not in the right profession. All years prior have been amazing interactions with staff and we've enjoyed the camp ground.
Aug 08, 2024 · J EgbertBeautiful day out on the lake. A little crowded after 1 pm, but the Lake is full so there was extra room.
Jul 03, 2023 · Evonne MadisonJust got here today with the family everybody has passes, except one of our vehicles, they wouldn't let the single vehicle pay for day-use , we offered to buy a season pass, and was still sent away and made them Park far away,, from the entrance, there's nobody here, and tons of parking, the lady was extremely rude , bad policies here
