Ma Tar Awa Viejas Camper Park Introduce
For local residents in the Alpine, California area searching for "Camping Near Me," Ma Tar Awa Viejas Camper Park, situated at 25 Browns Rd, Alpine, CA 91901, offers a camping experience with a beautiful location and spacious sites. While it boasts proximity to the popular Viejas Casino, it maintains a peaceful distance, ensuring a tranquil stay. However, potential visitors should be aware of the limited availability for short-term stays, the potential for windy conditions, and the seasonal operation of the pool, as indicated by recent customer reviews.
A Beautiful Location Near Viejas Casino
One of the primary draws of Ma Tar Awa Viejas Camper Park is its beautiful location. The campground is situated in a scenic area near Alpine, known for its natural beauty in the foothills of the Cuyamaca Mountains. Guests can likely expect pleasant surroundings with views of the local landscape. A significant advantage of this location is its adjacency to the Viejas Casino. This provides convenient access to the casino's entertainment, dining, and other amenities for those interested. However, a key point highlighted by a reviewer is that the camper park is far enough removed from the casino that guests cannot hear or see it, preserving a sense of peace and tranquility within the campground itself.
The reviewer also mentions the spaciousness of the camping spots, which is a significant positive for RV owners or those who appreciate extra room around their campsite. Having roomy spots enhances comfort and allows for easier maneuvering of larger vehicles and setting up camp. This feature contributes to a more relaxed and less crowded camping experience.
Limited Availability for Short-Term Stays and Focus on Long-Term Guests
A crucial piece of information for those seeking short-term "Camping Near Me" options is the limited availability at Ma Tar Awa Viejas Camper Park. According to a visitor who spoke with the front desk, only about 10 spots are designated for short-term stays. The majority of the campsites are reserved for "long-term" guests, defined as those staying for a month or longer. This policy means that local users looking for overnight or weekend camping trips may find it challenging to secure a spot, especially during peak seasons. It is highly recommended to call well in advance to check availability for short-term stays.
This emphasis on long-term stays suggests that Ma Tar Awa Viejas Camper Park may cater more to individuals or families looking for an extended camping arrangement in the Alpine area. While this serves a specific segment of the camping community, it's an important factor for short-term campers to be aware of when planning their trips.
Potential for Windy Conditions
Another environmental factor to consider, as mentioned by a reviewer, is that the area can get "super windy." Alpine, being located in a mountainous region, is indeed prone to strong winds, particularly during certain times of the year or specific weather patterns. Campers planning a stay at Ma Tar Awa Viejas Camper Park should be prepared for potentially windy conditions. This might involve securing awnings and outdoor gear properly and being mindful of wind direction when setting up tents or parking RVs. While the wind is a natural occurrence in the area, it's a practical consideration for ensuring a comfortable and safe camping experience.
Seasonal Pool Closure
Ma Tar Awa Viejas Camper Park does offer a pool as an amenity, which can be a significant draw, especially for families and those looking to cool off during warmer months. However, a reviewer noted that the pool was closed during the winter. This indicates that the pool is likely a seasonal amenity and may not be available during colder times of the year. For local users specifically looking for a campground with a pool, it's essential to inquire about its operating schedule, especially if traveling outside of the summer months. The reviewer also mentioned their children were looking forward to a heated pool but found it was not the case, suggesting that the pool may be unheated.
Important Note Regarding Service Dog Policy
One concerning review raises a significant issue regarding the park's service dog policy. A potential guest reported being denied a one-night reservation due to having a service dog that is part pitbull. This suggests a breed-specific restriction regarding service animals, which may be in violation of regulations protecting individuals with disabilities and their service animals. Local users who require service animals, particularly of certain breeds, should be aware of this reported experience and may want to contact the park directly to understand their current service animal policy and ensure compliance with applicable laws.

Ma Tar Awa Viejas Camper Park Reviews
Beautiful location, adjacent to the Viejas Casino but far enough away where you can’t hear it or see it. The spots are super roomy but only 10 spots available for short-term stays. The rest are reserved for “long-term” which according to the friendly lady at the front desk, is a month or longer. It can get super windy in this area so keep that in mind. They do have a pool but it was closed during the winter. My kids were looking forward to a heated pool, but no such luck. All in all, we did enjoy our stay here and will be back in the Summer to check it out again.
Jan 05, 2020 · Gilbert HernandezI called to reserve a spot for 1 night but was denied due to having a service dog that is part pitbull. Sad that a group who has been discriminated against is discriminating.
Jan 08, 2025 · Kathleen Maxine Keith EakinsThe ladies Working at this RV park have to be the sweetest, most loving women I have ever dealt with. The park is also beautiful, quiet and well maintained. Thanks, Jessica for doing your job with such kindness.
Aug 29, 2024 · Teresa RegerIf I could leave a ZERO STAR review I would.. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT STAY HERE. Jessica the front desk lady will lie to you about checkout and then scream at you when she gets caught and is confronted. She was the nastiest most unprofessional person I've ever dealt with. She screamed and yelled at me and my wife on the top of her lungs saying she's not in the mood to deal with me or anyone today..What are you working in customer service for then?? This whole argument is because I was told to check out at TUESDAY at 8am because today monday is a holiday and her boss isnt there until Tuesday. So I was told, :quote: "as long as your gone by 8am Tuesday it's ok" :end quote. Today the boss showed up early and she realized that she was in trouble for allowing us to stay an extra day and when I went to the office to confront her all she could say is I know I told you Tuesday but my boss is here now and you have to go. I kept asking why did you tell me Tuesday then and she acknowledged she told me Tuesday but she doesn't care and she's not in the mood to deal with anyone. I stay at hundreds of RV sites and this is by far the worst park I've ever been at. I will never stay here again
