Mac's Lakes Resort Introduce
For local users in Kentucky and those passing through the La Grange area searching for "camping near me," Mac's Lakes Resort, located at 1625 Waterworks Rd, La Grange, KY 40031, presents a straightforward option, particularly for RVers needing essential hookups for a short stay. You can contact them at (502) 222-7845 or their mobile number, +1 502-222-7845. Based on recent customer reviews, Mac's Lakes Resort offers a no-frills experience focused on providing basic utilities and a welcoming owner.
One of the most consistently positive aspects highlighted in the reviews is the exceptional hospitality of the owner, David. One guest mentioned, "The owner was so nice and accommodating for us. We had an absolutely great stay!" Another reviewer specifically noted, "David will be sure to meet you out by the road and escort you to your spot. He knew we wanted to stay connected to the truck. He gave us a level spot." These comments underscore a personalized and helpful approach from the owner, which can be a significant advantage, especially for travelers arriving late or with specific needs.
However, it is crucial for local users seeking a more traditional camping experience with amenities to note the limitations of Mac's Lakes Resort. One reviewer explicitly states, "There are no amenities, no bathhouse, no pool, no pretty landscaping." This candid assessment sets clear expectations: Mac's Lakes Resort is not geared towards extended vacations or those seeking recreational facilities within the campground itself. The environment appears to be functional rather than scenic or resort-like.
The primary offering of Mac's Lakes Resort, as mentioned by a reviewer, is "electric, water and sewer for $40 a night. Cash." This indicates that the campground primarily caters to RVs requiring full hookups (FHU). For local RV owners or those traveling through the area in an RV, the availability of these essential utilities at a stated price point is a key feature. The cash-only payment policy is an important detail to be aware of for prospective guests.
The same reviewer who noted the lack of amenities also pointed out that the resort is "less than desirable for vacation but perfect for 1 night stop with FHU." This succinctly summarizes the niche that Mac's Lakes Resort seems to fill: a convenient and functional overnight stop for RVers needing full hookups. For local users who might be embarking on longer journeys and require a reliable place to rest and service their RV for a night, Mac's Lakes Resort could be a suitable option within the "camping near me" category.
The advice to "Make sure to call ahead before going" is also a practical piece of information for potential visitors. This suggests that reservations or at least a courtesy call to inform the owner of your arrival is recommended. This might be due to the personalized service offered by David, who apparently meets guests upon arrival, or it could indicate a smaller operation where pre-arrangement is beneficial.
In terms of the environment, based on the reviews, it seems to be more utilitarian than scenic. The absence of "pretty landscaping" suggests a focus on functionality rather than aesthetics. However, the owner's effort to provide a "level spot" indicates attention to the basic comfort and practicality of the campsites, which is essential for RV parking.
Regarding services beyond the essential hookups, the reviews explicitly state the absence of a bathhouse and pool. Therefore, campers relying on these facilities will need to consider other options for their hygiene needs if staying longer than a very brief period. The lack of other mentioned amenities suggests a bare-bones approach focused on providing the core utilities for RVs.
As for features, the primary feature of Mac's Lakes Resort appears to be the availability of full hookups (electric, water, and sewer) at a specific nightly rate ($40 cash). The personalized service and accommodating nature of the owner, David, also stand out as a significant positive feature based on the customer feedback.
There is no promotional information available in the provided text. Therefore, local users interested in any discounts, special rates for longer stays (beyond a single night), or any other promotional offers would need to inquire directly with Mac's Lakes Resort via phone.
In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" in the La Grange, Kentucky area, Mac's Lakes Resort offers a basic but functional option, particularly suited for RVers needing full hookups for a short overnight stay. The owner, David, is consistently praised for his helpful and accommodating service. However, it is essential to be aware that the resort lacks traditional camping amenities such as a bathhouse, pool, and scenic landscaping. The nightly rate for full hookups is mentioned as $40 (cash only), and calling ahead is recommended. For those seeking a no-frills, convenient stop with essential utilities, Mac's Lakes Resort could be a viable choice. However, those looking for a more amenity-rich or aesthetically focused camping experience may need to explore other options within the "camping near me" category.

Aug 03, 2024 · G RayWe love it here. Mac Is amazing and very sweet. The people come and go and Mac makes sure that everybody is happy. It's quiet at night you listen to the frogs the cows The crickets and occasionally the train going by beautiful sunsets and great fishing.
Oct 23, 2023 · Suzan CoxStay here often, peaceful and quiet. Zero amenities but full hookups. Mac is awesome but this place is not for everyone. If you are looking for a typical campground, you are not going to find that at Mac's. It is completely unique
