Mayfair Campground Introduce
For local users in New York and those traveling through, searching for "camping near me," Mayfair Campground, located at 3250 Old State Rte 49, Blossvale, NY 13308, offers an accessible and friendly camping experience. Based on recent customer feedback, Mayfair Campground presents a mix of convenient features and areas for potential improvement, providing an objective overview for prospective visitors.
Upon arrival, Mayfair Campground offers a "wide open entry," which is particularly beneficial for those traveling with "big rigs," ensuring a smoother and less stressful initial access. The presence of a "security gate at the entrance" suggests a focus on the safety and security of campers within the grounds. However, one visitor noted a minor inconvenience during check-in, mentioning the lack of a clearly outlined shoulder to park out of the way while registering, which required briefly blocking the gate. Despite this, the same reviewer found the "office/store staff was friendly" and the "check-in process was easy," indicating a positive interaction with the campground personnel.
The campground features a store that is "stocked but very minimal on anything else as far as merchandising or any initial items that would draw you deeper into the store to buy more items." This suggests that while essential supplies might be available, the store may not offer a wide variety of novelty items or impulse purchases. However, having an on-site store provides a basic convenience for campers who may need necessities during their stay.
One of the significant advantages of Mayfair Campground appears to be the size of its campsites. Visitors have noted that the "sites were large enough to accommodate larger rv's," which is crucial for those traveling with substantial recreational vehicles. Furthermore, the "hookups were nicely done and water pressure was good," indicating reliable utility connections for RV campers. On the other hand, a noted con was that "some sites are closely packed together," which might affect the sense of privacy and space for some campers. Additionally, the presence of "tree stumps which was right in front of most rv's entrance doors" was mentioned as a potential inconvenience or tripping hazard. However, the reviewer also mentioned that their "site was for the most part level," simplifying the setup process for their RV.
The overall atmosphere within the campground seems welcoming, as the reviewer who explored the park noted that "all were friendly." This contributes to a positive community feel among the campers. However, there were mentions of noise disturbances, with a "large group of campers with a very loud stereo system which played till about 11pm" on one evening. Additionally, the reviewer and their family experienced a "strong odor of Marijuana" at one point, which they found unpleasant. These incidents suggest that while generally friendly, there might be occasional issues with noise levels and the behavior of some guests that could impact the experience of others.
The reviewer, being an experienced traveler along the east coast, offered several suggestions for potential improvements at Mayfair Campground. These included a "black top entrance and main thoroughfares" to minimize dust and sound, as well as providing a smoother entrance for large rigs. Enhancements to recreational facilities were also suggested, such as a "larger play area for children" and the popular addition of "movie night" with a large screen and popcorn. The concept of "premium sites" featuring concrete pads, paver stone patios, outdoor furniture, and even piped-in wet bars was proposed as a way to attract campers willing to pay more for added convenience and comfort.
Further suggestions for upgrades included the potential "big expense" but significant "ROI" of a "heated pool with a hot tub." More immediate needs identified were the modernization of the "main bath house," the replacement of a "rotten" sink, and a fresh coat of paint in the bathrooms. The laundry room was noted as having only one old washer and dryer. The recommendation to implement "credit card machines" reflects the increasing preference for cashless transactions. Finally, the issue of overflowing garbage was raised, with a suggestion to add more dumpsters given the number of campsites.
Despite these suggestions and minor drawbacks, the reviewer concluded that "aside from that the campground was open and easy to navigate." The proximity to water was also highlighted as a "bonus," along with being "close enough to towns with shops and restaurants," offering a blend of natural and urban conveniences. Ultimately, the reviewer stated, "we would come back again to Mayfair," indicating that the positive aspects outweighed the negatives for their experience.
Another reviewer, who identified as a seasonal camper, expressed strong positive sentiments, stating, "We Love the campground and the owners!!! We are seasonal here, and plan on staying. Our site is so comfortable, and our neighbors are like family." This positive feedback from a long-term camper underscores the welcoming and community-oriented atmosphere that Mayfair Campground fosters, particularly for those who stay for extended periods.
In conclusion, Mayfair Campground in Blossvale, NY, offers local users a conveniently located camping option with spacious RV sites, good utility hookups, and a friendly atmosphere. Its proximity to water and nearby towns adds to its appeal. While some areas could benefit from upgrades, such as the bathhouse, laundry facilities, and potentially the tent platforms, the campground provides an accessible and generally positive experience for many campers, especially those with larger RVs. The suggestions for improvements from a seasoned traveler offer valuable insights for the campground's future development. The loyalty of seasonal campers further attests to the welcoming community and comfortable environment that Mayfair Campground provides for those seeking "camping near me" in the Blossvale area.

Mayfair Campground Reviews
First initial impressions upon pulling into Mayfair wide open entry which was great for big rigs. Security gate at the entrance however I had to stop and block the gate in order to check in,did not see an outlined shoulder to park out of the way. Once inside the office/store staff was friendly and check in process was easy. Store is stocked but very minimal on anything else as far as merchandising or any initial items that would draw you deeper into the store to buy more items.Sites were large enough to accommodate larger rv's .hookups were nicely done and water pressure was good. Cons some sites are closely packed together, and had tree stumps which was right in front of most rv's entrance doors. my site was for the most part level so it didn't take me long to level up.I rode around the park and all were friendly. During the evening there was a large group of campers with a very loud stereo system which played till about 11pm. At one point during the evening my family and i had a strong odor of Marijuana which we didn't like smelling. Some suggestions as we travel to many campgrounds up and down the east coast all season long.Black top entrance and main throuo fares this would minimize dust, sound, and a smoother entrance for large rigs coming and going.Larger play area for children, movie night works great at campgrounds using a large blow up screen and providing popcorn for is deffinantely a hit, premium sites for example have a few sites which are concrete with paver stone sitting patio along with table umbrella, chairs and even a piped in wet bar. Pull thru. I have seen camps with these setup and they sell like hot cakes cause it minimizes what campers have to setup so they pay top dollar for these sites.Lastly the big expense of a heated pool with a hot tub big pay out but big ROI at the end. One other comment was the main bath house needs to be modernized the laundry room had only 1 dryer and washer they looked old. Credit card machines are nice as a lot of people these days don't carry much cash or change.the was rotten and needs to be replaced. The bathrooms could use a fresh coat of paint as well.Aside from that the campground was open and easy to navigate. Being by the water is also a bonus close enough to towns with shops and restaurants .we would come back again to mayfair. We went to dump the garbage and there 1 container was over flowing. With as many sites as they have they really should add another 2 dumpsters.

Jul 12, 2022 · Cindy AndersonGiant open field with no shade. Huge sites along a main road.
Jan 28, 2024 · Ann RossiIt was boring there, they said that there was an activities director but there wasn't. The only get together that was planned was cancelled. Other than that it is a normal campground
Oct 18, 2024 · Eric YaddowVery nice place. Be aware that you have to mow your own spot, or they charge you to mow it. They have Spectrum internet in some areas of park, but not all areas and Skyweb internet is down half the time.
