Lone Pine Campgrounds Introduce
For those in search of "camping near me" in the Sylvan Beach, New York area, Lone Pine Campgrounds, located at 600 16th Ave, Sylvan Beach, NY 13157, presents a complex picture based on recent customer feedback. To get in touch with the campground, you can use the phone number (315) 762-5544 or their mobile number +1 315-762-5544. While one review paints a concerning picture of management practices, another highlights a strong and supportive community among the campers themselves. This contrast is crucial for local users to consider when evaluating potential campgrounds.
One detailed review expresses significant dissatisfaction with the campground's management. The reviewer describes the management as "terrible, overbearing, bossy, and unwilling to adjust or allow for elderly campers." This is a serious accusation that potential campers, especially those traveling with or as elderly individuals, should take into account. The review further provides a distressing anecdote, stating that after more than 20 years of their mother camping at Lone Pine, she was allegedly told she was no longer allowed to stay due to having Alzheimer's. The reviewer also claims that the management was "absolutely unwilling to communicate" regarding the removal of her camper from the premises. This paints a picture of inflexibility and a lack of compassion in dealing with long-term campers and the challenges associated with aging.
This negative experience with management stands in stark contrast to the positive sentiment expressed in another review, which describes Lone Pine Campgrounds as being "like a big family." This reviewer emphasizes the strong sense of community among the campers, stating that "people here care about and are always willing to help other campers." This suggests that while there may be issues with the campground's administration, the social environment among the guests is a significant positive aspect. For those who value camaraderie and a supportive atmosphere during their camping trips, this could be a considerable draw.
Considering these contrasting views, it is challenging to provide a straightforward introduction to Lone Pine Campgrounds. Objectively, we can state the following based on the available information:
- Location: Situated in Sylvan Beach, NY, making it a potentially convenient "camping near me" option for local residents in that area.
- Community: There appears to be a strong and positive community among the campers, with a reported willingness to help one another and a "big family" atmosphere. This could be particularly appealing to those seeking a social camping experience.
- Management Concerns: A significant concern has been raised regarding the management, described as "terrible, overbearing, bossy, and unwilling to adjust or allow for elderly campers." The specific instance cited, involving a long-term camper with Alzheimer's, is particularly troubling and suggests potential issues with the management's approach to accommodating elderly guests and communicating with their families.
- Long-Term Camping History: The mention of a camper staying for over 20 years indicates that Lone Pine Campgrounds has historically been a place where people have established long-term stays and potentially built strong connections with the community. However, the recent alleged change in management attitude towards long-term elderly campers is a significant development.
Given the severity of the negative feedback regarding management, local users searching for "camping near me" should exercise caution and consider this information carefully. While the positive comments about the camper community are encouraging, the potential for negative interactions with the management could significantly impact the overall camping experience. It is advisable to seek further information and potentially speak with current campers or the management directly to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the current situation before making a decision.
It is important to note that the provided information does not offer details about the campground's environment, specific services, or features such as the types of campsites available (e.g., tent, RV hookups), amenities (e.g., restrooms, showers, recreational facilities), or any promotional information. Therefore, a complete picture of what Lone Pine Campgrounds offers is not available based solely on these two reviews. The stark contrast between the positive community aspect and the negative management feedback creates a situation where prospective campers need to weigh these factors carefully.
For local users considering Lone Pine Campgrounds for their "camping near me" needs, it might be beneficial to:
- Attempt to contact the management directly to inquire about their policies, especially regarding long-term stays and accommodations for elderly campers.
- Seek out additional, more recent reviews from other campers to see if the issues with management are isolated incidents or a more widespread concern.
- If possible, visit the campground in person to get a feel for the environment and potentially speak with some of the current campers to hear their perspectives on the community and the management.
In conclusion, Lone Pine Campgrounds appears to be a place with a strong and supportive community among its campers, which is a significant positive attribute. However, serious concerns have been raised regarding the management's attitude and treatment of campers, particularly elderly individuals. This discrepancy makes it difficult to offer a straightforward recommendation. Local users searching for "camping near me" should be aware of both the positive and negative aspects highlighted in these reviews and conduct further research to determine if this campground meets their individual needs and expectations. The welcoming community described by one reviewer may be a significant draw for some, while the alleged management issues raised by the other could be a deterrent. A balanced perspective requires acknowledging both sides of this picture.

Lone Pine Campgrounds Reviews
Management is terrible, overbearing, bossy, and unwilling to adjust or allow for elderly campers. After 20+ years, my mother was told she wasn't allowed to camp there because she has ALZHEIMERS!!! Then were absolutely unwilling to communicate with us in order to remove her camper from the campground. Campers there are an awesome community, it's too bad the management has declined so far.
