Moore Haven KOA Introduce
For local users in Florida and those looking to travel within the state and searching for "camping near me," Moore Haven KOA, located at 17192 US-27, Moore Haven, FL 33471, USA, offers a camping experience in a more rural setting of Florida. As part of the KOA network, it typically aims to provide a certain standard of service and amenities. Combining the search for "camping near me" with the specifics of Moore Haven KOA, we can explore what this campground has to offer.
The environment surrounding Moore Haven KOA is described by a reviewer as "rural Florida amidst ranches and sugar cane farms." This suggests a quieter, more open landscape, away from the immediate hustle of coastal or major urban areas. If you appreciate the ambiance of rural Florida, with its agricultural landscapes, this setting might appeal to you. The reviewer also notes the absence of traffic issues and crowds, indicating a potentially more peaceful and relaxed atmosphere compared to campgrounds in more densely populated tourist destinations. While the immediate surroundings are rural, the reviewer also mentions that groceries and shopping are only about a half-hour drive away, offering a balance between a tranquil setting and accessibility to necessities.
In terms of services, Moore Haven KOA is noted as being "clean" and "well-kept," which suggests attention to the maintenance of the grounds and facilities. The presence of "friendly staff" is also highlighted in a review, contributing to a positive camping experience. As a KOA campground, it likely offers standard amenities associated with the brand, although specific details aren't provided in the reviews. Typically, KOAs offer a range of services that can include restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and potentially Wi-Fi. One review mentions a camp store with "a couple cans of pop or ice cream bars," suggesting that while there is a store, its offerings might be limited. It's worth noting a specific policy mentioned by a reviewer: "Owner don't allow dog fences, no screened tents." This is an important piece of information for campers traveling with dogs or those who prefer screened tents for insect protection. To get a comprehensive list of services and any other specific rules or policies, contacting Moore Haven KOA directly at (863) 946-6616 or +1 863-946-6616 would be advisable.
The features of Moore Haven KOA seem to include "large sites," which is a significant benefit for campers who appreciate extra space and privacy. The rural setting itself can be considered a feature, offering a different flavor of Florida compared to coastal campgrounds. While specific recreational features within the campground aren't detailed in these reviews (like a pool, playground, etc.), the KOA brand often includes such amenities. The proximity (within a half-hour drive) to groceries and shopping adds a layer of convenience despite the rural location. However, it's also noted that the nearest "Dollar General only stores" are within a 30-minute drive, and the camp store has limited stock, suggesting that for more extensive shopping, a short drive is necessary. The restrictions on dog fences and screened tents are also notable features, albeit potentially negative ones for certain campers.
Promotional information isn't explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the positive feedback from a returning camper from Michigan ("We'll be returning next winter from Michigan for our third year") serves as a strong endorsement, particularly for those looking for a snowbird destination. This suggests that Moore Haven KOA is a place where people feel comfortable returning for longer stays. The emphasis on a clean, well-kept environment and friendly staff could also be considered promotional aspects highlighted by the reviewers. To find out about any specific seasonal promotions, discounts, or long-stay rates, contacting Moore Haven KOA directly would be the best approach.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in a quieter, more rural part of Florida, Moore Haven KOA offers a potentially appealing option. The reviews suggest a clean and well-maintained campground with friendly service and large sites. The rural setting amidst ranches and sugar cane farms provides a different Florida experience, while still being within a reasonable driving distance to shopping. However, it's important to be aware of the mentioned rules regarding dog fences and screened tents, as well as the limited offerings of the camp store. For those who value a peaceful, spacious campsite in a rural environment, Moore Haven KOA could be a good fit. Calling them directly at the provided phone numbers can help clarify any questions about amenities, site availability, and current rates.
In conclusion, Moore Haven KOA presents itself as a clean, well-kept campground in a rural setting of Florida, offering large sites and friendly staff. Its location amidst ranches and sugar cane farms provides a unique environment, and while it's a bit removed from major shopping centers, basic necessities are within a reasonable drive. Potential campers should be aware of the rules regarding dog fences and screened tents and the limited stock in the camp store. The positive feedback from a returning long-term camper speaks to the campground's appeal for certain types of visitors. For local users seeking "camping near me" with a preference for a quieter, rural atmosphere, Moore Haven KOA is worth considering. Contacting them directly will provide the most comprehensive and up-to-date information.

Moore Haven KOA Reviews
Owner don't allow dog fences, no screened tents. Have a couple of small dogs that help protect them if they sneak out when entering or leaving the motorhome. We like sitting outside with our dogs without out being bite by mosquitoes. There are too many rules for a KOA CG... Dollar General only stores with in 30-minute drive. The camp store only has a couple cans of pop or ice cream bars.
Jan 02, 2024 · Dave HaskellClean, well-kept campground with friendly staff. We liked that it is set in rural Florida amidst ranches and sugar cane farms, but only a half hour to groceries and shopping. No traffic issues. No crowds. Large sites. We'll be returning next winter from Michigan for our third year.
Feb 26, 2025 · David LarkinOwner obviously doesn't care about this location as the electric all over the park has major issues, tons of power outages since I've been here I've been here a yr now if I had a truck to move my camper I would have been gone. On site manager is rude and disrespectful always she can't even keep employees because she doesn't respect them. And doesn't really chip in on the work that truly needs to be done she makes employees sit on golf carts outside all day on their shifts it got up to 105 some days last summer and an employee passed away because he had over hydrated sitting in the heat R.I.P. Gary the best employee that worked here. I do not recommend anymore than a night or two here. Laundry machines a majority of them are broke down...its been a yr... no atm or debit card reader for the change machine so you have to drive 5-10 miles to pull out cash just to do your laundry. So much more to list but you get the point would rate 0 stars but not an option.
Feb 03, 2025 · Mitch BoraThis campground was converted to a KOA in April of 2020. Although few upgrades have been made so far, many improvements are planned including upgrades to existing sites, Frisbee golf, etc. We were surprised how much vacancy there was during our Spring break stay. This modest campground has fantastic potential. The staff have been nothing but friendly and kind. If you want Wi-Fi at your campsite, there is a hefty charge per connected device and the speed is unimpressive. Fire ants were a recurring issue during our 4 night stay. The campground shares a fence with a cow pasture, but as there is a constant breeze from the East, we never noticed any unpleasant smells. We enjoyed watching the cows and visiting with the friendly donkeys. With a few upgrades, thus will be a fantastic family getaway.
May 14, 2022 · Mark SternWe had a very relaxing stay in our 5th wheel RV camper. The campground is under new management this year. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and fun! The location is remote but you can drive within 20-30 minutes to some really nice places. It is easy on/off the highway. There is a convenience store in the office for some generic ammenities. The sites are level and clean. There is a nice playground for children and also an enclosed area for dogs to run off-leash. The campground has a few different ponds to go fishing with nice views of surrounding grazing farm animals. No swiming in the ponds, though- don't forget, Florida is 'gator country! No worries- the pool is really nice. It is large and clean with a lot of really nice furniture for lounging and chatting. The property is very large. We loved strolling around each night and sat outside to enjoy the sunset. We will defintely be back to stay again on our way to and from the Florida Keys!
