Morrison Eddy Campgrounds

Foss Rd, Seaside, OR 97138, USA

4.0
Been coming here for over 20 years off and on. It's a lovely spot for fishing, crawfish trapping, kayaking, swimming and floaties. Campground is kept up clean with a outhouse, garbage containers. Very quiet and secluded camp spots with designated fire pits and picnic bench. Got to hike your belongings in by foot about a quarter mile. Recommend to bring a four wheel offroad cart instead of carrying it in. The only issue is your vehicles are not protected from vandles. There was an incident where a camper got his cadalityc converter stolen and two others had they're windows broken. - tony ibarra

Morrison Eddy Campgrounds Introduce

For local residents of Oregon seeking a unique and potentially secluded "camping near me" experience, Morrison Eddy Campgrounds, located off Foss Rd in Seaside, OR 97138, USA, offers a riverside retreat with a variety of recreational opportunities. Based on customer reviews, this campground provides a lovely setting for those who enjoy fishing, crawfish trapping, kayaking, swimming, and leisurely floating. However, it's important for potential visitors to be aware of certain logistical aspects and a reported security concern.

The environment of Morrison Eddy Campgrounds is consistently described as a "lovely spot" situated alongside a river. The specific river is not named in the reviews, but its presence is central to the campground's appeal, offering opportunities for diverse aquatic activities. The mention of fishing and crawfish trapping suggests a healthy river ecosystem with accessible areas for these pursuits. Kayaking and swimming are also highlighted, indicating suitable water conditions for these activities, potentially including calm stretches for paddling and safe areas for swimming, even with children, as noted by one reviewer.

The campground itself is reported to be "kept up clean," with the provision of an outhouse and garbage containers. This suggests that basic sanitation and waste management are in place, contributing to a more pleasant camping experience. The campsites are described as "very quiet and secluded," offering a sense of privacy and immersion in nature that can be highly desirable for those seeking a peaceful getaway. Each campsite is equipped with designated fire pits and a picnic bench, providing essential amenities for cooking and enjoying the outdoors.

A significant feature of Morrison Eddy Campgrounds that potential visitors need to be aware of is the access to the campsites. Campers must hike their belongings in by foot for approximately a quarter of a mile. This implies that the campsites are not directly accessible by vehicle, which contributes to their secluded nature but also requires planning for transporting gear. One experienced visitor recommends bringing a four-wheel off-road cart instead of carrying items by hand to ease this process. This walk-in access might deter some campers but could be a significant advantage for those seeking a more remote and tranquil setting away from vehicle traffic.

However, a serious concern raised in one of the reviews is the issue of vehicle security. It was reported that there was an incident where a camper had their catalytic converter stolen, and two others had their windows broken. This suggests a potential vulnerability regarding vehicle security in the parking area. While the natural environment and the campsites themselves are praised, this security issue is a significant factor that local users should consider and take precautions against, such as ensuring valuables are not left in vehicles and potentially using anti-theft devices.

Despite this security concern, another reviewer enthusiastically states, "This is a great place for camping if you like to be by yourself, with lots of crawdads to catch and a great place to swim even with the kids!" This positive feedback reinforces the appeal of Morrison Eddy Campgrounds for those valuing solitude and the specific recreational activities available. The abundance of crawdads is highlighted as a fun and unique feature, particularly for families with children.

Promotional aspects of Morrison Eddy Campgrounds would focus on its lovely riverside location ideal for fishing, crawfish trapping, kayaking, and swimming. The quiet and secluded campsites, each with a fire pit and picnic bench, offer a peaceful retreat. The cleanliness of the campground and the provision of basic facilities are also positive points. The opportunity to experience a more remote camping setting due to the short hike-in to campsites could be promoted to those seeking a more immersive natural experience.

However, any promotional material should also objectively mention the quarter-mile hike required to reach the campsites and the reported issue of vehicle vandalism in the parking area. Potential visitors should be made aware of these aspects to allow them to prepare accordingly and make an informed decision. The recommendation to use a four-wheel off-road cart for transporting gear could also be included as a helpful tip.

For local users considering Morrison Eddy Campgrounds for their next "camping near me" adventure, the key features to weigh are the secluded riverside setting and the opportunities for water-based activities versus the inconvenience of the hike-in access and the potential risk to vehicle security. If peace, solitude, and activities like fishing, crawfishing, kayaking, and swimming are priorities, and if campers are prepared for the short hike and take precautions regarding their vehicles, Morrison Eddy Campgrounds could be a rewarding choice.

In conclusion, Morrison Eddy Campgrounds near Seaside, Oregon, offers a lovely and secluded camping experience centered around a river that is ideal for fishing, crawfish trapping, kayaking, and swimming. The campground is maintained with clean basic facilities, and the quiet campsites provide privacy. However, potential visitors must be prepared for a quarter-mile hike to access the campsites and should be aware of a reported issue of vehicle vandalism in the parking area. Weighing these factors will help local users determine if Morrison Eddy Campgrounds is the right "camping near me" destination for their needs and preferences.
