Mount Nebo Campground Introduce
Are you a local resident seeking a "camping near me" experience with stunning scenic views and access to outdoor activities? Mount Nebo Campground, located at 16136 State Hwy 155 in Dardanelle, AR 72834, USA, situated within Mount Nebo State Park, offers a unique mountaintop camping experience. While praised for its natural beauty and family-friendly atmosphere, recent customer reviews also highlight several important considerations regarding campsite selection, privacy, restroom facilities, and the surrounding environment. For local users exploring options within the "camping near me" platform category, let's delve into the environment, services, and features of Mount Nebo Campground based on these objective insights.
The environment of Mount Nebo Campground is a significant draw, with reviewers consistently mentioning the "beautiful trails and scenic drives." The campground offers "many options for loops," suggesting ample opportunities for hiking and exploring the natural beauty of Mount Nebo State Park. Campers can also look forward to "incredible sunset and sunrise views" from the mountaintop location. The "stone patio overlooking the valley" is highlighted as a particularly enjoyable spot to take in the scenery. The presence of a disc golf course, geared towards children and mountain bike riders, indicates a family-friendly environment with recreational activities available. However, one reviewer noted that the area "looks like a suburb instead of a state park" and was "shocked" to find "nothing but houses everywhere" upon reaching the mountain top. This suggests that while the park offers natural beauty, the development on the mountain might detract from a completely secluded wilderness feel for some local users searching for a more remote "camping near me" experience. Additionally, one review mentions the proximity of a nuclear power plant, which might be a consideration for some visitors.
In terms of services, Mount Nebo Campground is described as "clean family and pet friendly." This suggests that local users traveling with children and pets are welcome. The availability of restrooms is mentioned, although one reviewer found them less than ideal. The restrooms were located "away from the campground next to the pool, and at the back of the inside of a bathhouse building that houses both the men's and women's restrooms." This location might be inconvenient for some campers, especially those with mobility issues or those camped further away. The cleanliness of the restrooms was noted positively by one reviewer, but the limited capacity, with only "two toilet stalls and one shower" in the women's restroom and "one shower two toilets one urinal and one sink" in the men's, could be an issue when the campground is busy. One reviewer also mentioned the absence of showers in the women's restroom, which was later clarified by another review stating there was one shower with only a curtain for privacy, which made a solo female traveler feel unsafe. Another significant service-related issue raised was the difficulty in selecting a campsite due to the lack of an available campground map on the reservation site. This made it "impossible to locate a map" to choose a preferred site, resulting in one camper being placed next to a noisy playground.
Several features of Mount Nebo Campground are mentioned in the reviews. The playground, while a positive for families with children, was noted for its noise and activity extending well after dark, potentially impacting the experience of nearby campers. The disc golf course is another feature catering to families and mountain bike enthusiasts. The "stone patio overlooking the valley" stands out as a scenic feature for all visitors to enjoy. The trails and scenic drives are also key features, offering opportunities for exploration and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. However, a significant drawback mentioned by multiple reviewers is the lack of privacy between campsites. One reviewer explicitly stated, "No sites have any privacy." Shade is also limited, with one camper noting that their site had no shade until late afternoon. The availability of cabins is mentioned, with one reviewer noting that they "look amazing," but there was a "2 night minimum to book," which might not suit all local users looking for a short "camping near me" getaway.
Currently, the provided information does not include any specific promotional details for Mount Nebo Campground. Local users interested in "camping near me" at this location might want to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers: (479) 229-3655 or the mobile number +1 479-229-3655 to inquire about any seasonal discounts, local resident rates, or special offers. Given that Mount Nebo State Park is an Arkansas State Park, information about potential promotions or annual passes might also be available on the official Arkansas State Parks website. Local users planning to stay in the cabins should specifically inquire about any minimum stay requirements and pricing. It's also advisable to ask about the availability of a campground map and photos of individual campsites to aid in the selection process, addressing the issue raised by one of the reviewers.
The reviews of Mount Nebo Campground present a mixed picture for local users seeking "camping near me." The stunning natural environment with beautiful trails and scenic views, along with its family and pet-friendly nature, are significant positives. However, the lack of campsite privacy, the inconvenient and somewhat concerning restroom facilities (especially for solo female travelers), the difficulty in selecting a campsite without a map, and the potential for noise from the playground are important drawbacks to consider. The presence of nearby residential areas might also impact the overall state park experience for some.
For local users planning a "camping near me" trip to Mount Nebo Campground, it is crucial to be aware of these factors. If privacy is a high priority, this might not be the ideal location. Solo female travelers should take the restroom situation into account. Families with young children might appreciate the proximity to the playground but should be prepared for potential noise. All users would benefit from contacting the campground directly to inquire about campsite maps and availability to make a more informed selection. Despite its drawbacks, the natural beauty of Mount Nebo State Park and the campground's accessibility might still make it a worthwhile option for some local campers, particularly those prioritizing scenic views and hiking opportunities.
In conclusion, Mount Nebo Campground offers a mountaintop "camping near me" experience with beautiful scenery and family-friendly features. Local users can enjoy stunning views, hiking trails, and a disc golf course. However, potential drawbacks include a lack of privacy between campsites, inconvenient and potentially concerning restroom facilities, the absence of a campground map for site selection, and the proximity of residential areas. While clean and pet-friendly, these considerations are important for local residents to weigh when deciding if Mount Nebo Campground is the right choice for their next outdoor adventure. Contacting the campground directly for more information and to address concerns is highly recommended.

Mount Nebo Campground Reviews
It's a neat park but I found it impossible to locate a map of the campground so I could choose a site I'd be happy with. Ended up right next to the playground (site 25) which stayed noisy and busy well after dark. No sites have any privacy. A few have shade but mine didn't until late afternoon. Arkansas State Parks could really stand to update their reservation site to include maps and photos of their camp sites and cabins. I wasn't super thrilled about the restrooms here either. They were located away from the campground next to the pool, and at the back of the inside of a bathhouse building that houses both the men's and women's restrooms. As a female traveling alone, I didn't feel safe. There were 2 toilet stalls and one shower. The shower did not have a door, only a curtain, also a little scary for a solo traveler. They were very clean though. The trails and scenic drives here were beautiful. Many options for loops. Very peaceful and incredible sunset and sunrise views. Really loved the stone patio overlooking the valley. BTW there is a nuclear power plant nearby. The cabins here look amazing, but there was a 2 night minimum to book.
Mar 30, 2025 · L GClean family and pet friendly campground.Disc campground is definitely geared toward children and mountain bike riders. The restroom is very small but clean and luckily we were there when the campground was not full due to sketchy weather.Men's bathroom only has one shower two toilets one urinal and one sink so if the campground was busy this could be an issue. We also noticed that the area looks like a suburb instead of a state park.We were a little shocked when we got on top of the mountain and it was nothing but houses everywhere. For us it worked good we're motorcycle camping and was able to get a perfect spot.
May 11, 2024 · John SheltonHighly recommend this beautiful and unique park. Right on top of the mountain with amazing views all around. Stayed in the campground and enjoyed the weekend with no complaints. Everyone on staff was very nice and accommodating with everything being very clean. The park interpreter, Andrea, did the activities for the kids but everyone can participate and is very knowledgeable and extremely patient with the kids.
Sep 02, 2024 · Lyle GrantLooks like cowboys on the mountain. Wonderful place and only wonderful people visit here! Prepare and plan for Mt. Nebo weather as it can be fast changing and exciting. 😃 The bike trails are some of the finest around. Remember come here and leave with only memories!
May 27, 2023 · LAURA NThe views are beautiful from this campground. There's a few spots that are nice, but most are small. No privacy. The bathroom is a little hike, but very clean. It even has some good soap! There is electricity and water though my water didn't work. You could even camp here free. There were about 12 people that had taken a campsite for the day. There were some just car camping in the parking lot by the bathroom/pool area. The restrooms are very clean. It had some good quality soap!I stayed a few nights because it was cheap for Arkansas residents, and I wanted to charge all of my devices.I left a day early since it was full and noisy with some guy who felt like the entire campground needed to hear his taste in music.I would stay again but only during the week.I seen the ranger once while I was there. They should drive around a little more often.
